Surviving The Fourth Calamity

However, Lansendel smiled slightly... If Shaer wishes to be open in front of her lover, let her be open.

But he had no intention of exposing his own goals.

There were some things he was always puzzled about... For instance, why was Amanata so certain that by relying on a trace of Divine Soul hidden in a cup, he could truly want to become the new Sun God.

Although Lansendel always liked the Sun, what he liked was its radiant light... not the great fireball itself.

Moreover, in the past, the reason he had such thoughts was that he hoped to possess the entire Divine Power of the Sun and arm wrestle with AO.

His target was the Sun God Sect... Only by letting the Sun possess the energy of an entire God System could he have the power not to be used as a pawn by AO.

Just like the Elf Deity System and the Natural Divine System.

At the very least, they possess autonomy.

Unlike the so-called God System of Ferun Great Land... What a joke; as the first ray of light in Toril, he’s only worthy of having a name on Ferun Great Land!

Not to mention those primordial continents, just talking about the Heavenly Court of Shoulong, it can sprawl across the sky and prevent him from gaining even a bit of Faith Power.

Though Lansendel didn’t desperately need this Faith, but... just because he didn’t want it doesn’t mean he should be deprived of his right.

Previously, Lansendel didn’t care, but after Tai Ji’s fall, he understood why his lover was always full of melancholy and kept trying to extend her reach beyond Toril... It was to leave a lifeline for herself.

However, after the failure of the Sun God Sect’s scheming, Lansendel fell completely silent.

Though not entirely resigned, he wouldn’t take action again while AO’s control over Toril remained so stringent.

He is still young; as long as Toril has light, he would not be completely destroyed... so he can afford to wait.

In fact, after Hill gave him a reason, Lansendel also left a lifeline for himself in that world filled with a surreal atmosphere.

There, there is a genuine longing for light.

Even in the blazing deserts, there is a yearning for illumination... After all, at any moment they can change from a blinding desert to an ice plain in the Dark Night.

Moreover, with each inexplicable shift in the environment, darkness and shadow would accompany it.

For a more stable environment, the sky must be filled with light... Even places like Quince wouldn’t leave its people in complete despair.

Every so often, they get a chance to catch their breath.

That was what interested Lansendel at first... it’s light, but without heat.

Thus, the Quinces welcomed him warmly, but they didn’t particularly like the Sun.

Because in their world, light doesn’t always come with the Sun.

This was the first time Lansendel felt that he wasn’t always entangled with the Sun.

Although Lansendel didn’t bring those faiths back to Toril, he did feel the extraordinary power that the frenzied pursuit of a last line of survival by souls tormented by fate can bring.

He had never understood why the deities of the Evil Faction always used force, coercion, and even methods that put their followers in life-threatening situations to gain faith. After all, how can those forced individuals provide sincere faith?

To Lansendel, who was always cherished by his followers and experienced that warm and passionate conviction, such methods seemed insignificant.

But now, he understands a bit more.

The usual, widespread Faith Power in Toril, provided by ten thousand people, isn’t as much as that of one worshipper driven by the brink of death.

The Evil God System simply knows that their followers are generally not good people, so instead of offering benefits for these innately cold-blooded, selfish, and sometimes mentally ill beings to offer their hearts, it’s better to make them afraid to speak of anyone but themselves.

Eventually, as they sink deeper and deeper, they cannot separate from them anymore, marking a successful cultivation.

A portion of such followers, combined with the fear that arises when mortals hear their names, is enough for these deities to live gloriously.

They simply do not care about the cold and chaotic nature of the Faith Power they absorb.

As for Shaer... Shaer does not need faith; she seeks people willing to follow her and do her bidding.

Yet, she never simply dismisses subpar minions.

Although Lansendel understood, he also knew he couldn’t achieve it.

In this regard, he’s still not as good as Amanata.

However, he also didn’t aim to surpass that willingly manipulated fool by AO.

Ha~

Lansendel could tell that since Amanata believed him and understood that the situation was lost, gaining nothing yet clinging on, this guy must have other plans.

That Apollo isn’t purely a Sun God, so Amanata doesn’t consider him a threat... While AO might tempt people into doing outrageous things, he doesn’t lie.

He would only say, ’You absolutely shouldn’t do this, or else such and such will happen’...

And Shaer and Cyric are the ones who often hear this sentence.

Now, perhaps Amanata is added to the list.

Then... who would Apollo, with his body of light, affect the most?
