Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Lansendel quickly introduced Amanata to the fundamental laws of this world.

Amanata’s eyes focused on the lifeless shell that had been lying on the ground without any response: ”If I still can’t calm down, is that over there your contingency plan?”

”It’s already over.” Lansendel replied with a smile.

Amanata was momentarily stunned.

Then he turned and shouted to Kashus, who was still entangled with the Netherwater Goddess behind him: ”Kashus, we have no chance of success; there’s no need to continue.”

Lansendel’s face showed no trace of surprise.

Unlike Celene, who was staring blankly at the grand spectacle.

Also unlike Hill, who was sitting on the sofa, dumbfounded.

Shaer let out a cold laugh: ”You wouldn’t actually believe that Kashus could become friends with someone who can witness themselves in a life-or-death struggle and remain indifferent?

Both of them are notoriously selfish and arrogant.

Unless there is some real camaraderie... Kashus alone, could he have maintained an alliance with a guy dead for so many years until now?

If you really believe Amanata doesn’t care about Kashus’s fate, then you are just being foolish.”

Hill didn’t believe that... he saw Amanata’s occasional glance toward the rear battlefield.

He just thought Amanata spoke that way because Kashus was clearly not in a weak position.

Kashus and that Netherwater Goddess, even though they’ve lived for almost the same number of years, their foundations are no different, so he certainly must be slightly stronger than the Netherwater Goddess... after all, he is the only Elemental God absorbing the most faith.

Of course, he absorbs this faith mainly to leave his mark in various worlds, but it has indeed made him considerably stronger... he is also the only Elemental God with avatars in several different worlds.

And general Elemental Deities, like the Earth Elemental God Valley Lanba who once played with Hill, all prefer to descend with their true forms.

If they just wish to interact with followers or take a glance at the mundane, they tend to use some elemental form... for example, Valley Lanba uses a small stone sphere marked with numerous elemental symbols.

The Netherwater Goddess truly is a kind of existence without any Faith Power.

Elements might not require faith, but they do need to absorb various similar elemental atmospheres to become stronger.

After all, the variations among elements, there are many kinds, even they themselves aren’t clear... the differences in the universe naturally cause elemental creatures to be different.

And understanding each different element can make these Elemental Gods stronger.

The Netherwater Goddess resides at the lowest level of the Elemental Realm, closest to the Styx, which is quite fitting, since ”Netherwater” indicates her inclination.

But in the Styx, everything progresses slowly.

Including the transformation of elements.

So the elemental atmospheres she absorbs must be minimal.

And the reason she can now fight so vividly on the Sun against Kashus is firstly because she came in her true form, and secondly... Styx must have promised her certain benefits.

But it also has to do with Kashus clearly watching the weather.

He wants to teach this Netherwater Elemental God a lesson, but... it must be after this fight and benefits are gained.

Therefore, Hill wasn’t surprised by the tacit understanding between Amanata and Kashus.

He just thought that the end of this battle wasn’t determined by Amanata.

Kashus is now stronger than Amanata, not listening to the Sun God’s words is normal.

Hill really didn’t expect, even though he internally believed Lansendel’s words, and could say Amanata actually realized that he was ninety-nine percent wasting effort this time, but still, he left a bit of room for himself.

This is because he only knew the negative aspects of Amanata, some internal things about this guy, Hill really didn’t know and hadn’t thought to understand.

However, judging from Lansendel’s calm expression, this Lord of Dawn is quite knowledgeable.

Moreover, Lansendel is very certain that even though Kashus can completely suppress Amanata in terms of strength, between the two, the one who calls the shots is still Amanata.

Tsk, it’s good that the one fighting understands everything.

Hill remains mindful of himself... he is always only able to see what others show, and he often overlooks hidden things.

So, involving himself less and making fewer moves, observing and thinking more should be his actions during this journey.

Especially in the battles between deities, sometimes you don’t know why they fight or why they stop... the complexities in between are immense.

So, the only one here who knows nothing and is shocked by the sudden change on the giant screen is Selene.

The Silvermoon Maiden muttered, ”Amanata, really, what he says and what he does have no connection at all!

Truly impressive!”

”You don’t really believe those stories demeaning him, do you!” Shaer said impatiently, ”Look at Hill, he’s merely surprised that Amanata is still so persistent!

And you... actually believe he has a bad relationship with Kashus?

Back during the Naicer Empire, he could control those Archmages’ faith in him, how could he be a true fool!

He was just greedy and selfish, wanting too much.

And it’s not that he has no principles; he just doesn’t apply his principles to the Toril Gods.

He did so many things, yet his faction did not shift. Do you know why?”

”Why does he not like Toril so much!” Selene said with an utterly confused look, ”Without Toril, there is no him!”

Shaer abruptly lost her composure: ”You ask me?

Your face, Selene!”

”Yoo-hoo~ Flying~” Selene suddenly drew a circle in front of the giant screen, then turned and flew towards another screen... Athena and the Double-headed Baboon’s battle seemed to be nearing its end.

”Oh my~ Why do I feel something seems off?” Selene pointed at Athena’s face full of righteous beauty with a serious demeanor, ”She seems to be fighting hard, but during key moments... doesn’t land a heavy hit, right?

Hmm? Hill...”

Hill gave a helpless glance at Shaer’s cold expression, then bitterly smiled and responded as the Lady of the Night sat back down, clearly choosing to ignore her foolish sister once more, ”Cyric seems to know Apollo.”

Though his combat capabilities don’t match his sister, Apollo’s wit is second to none.

Moreover, unlike Artemis and Athena, he hasn’t vowed to stand at the forefront of Zeus, forever safeguarding their father... To make these two daughters swear such an oath, Zeus even killed Hera, who he had never managed to bring himself to finish off.

Artemis and Apollo might detest Hera’s ruthless heart, but they equally disdain Zeus’s irresponsible behavior!

Who wants a father like him?

Even Athena, hasn’t her life been quite miserable... Hill now starts questioning the true reason behind the death of Paris, Triton’s shell daughter.

Given Athena’s current temperament, she surely isn’t one to forget a friend who died saving her by just tossing aside a middle name.

Thus, Hill can even vaguely deduce why Triton managed to break away from the Ocean God’s micro-universe, which Poseidon couldn’t leave, and establish himself near a place like Aesces, not far from Toril.

Since Mount Olympia fell into the Heavenly Mountain, adding another layer to this infinite plane of positive energy, the Olympian Pantheon has mainly seen Athena in charge.

Even though the acceptance of Mount Olympia merely stemmed from the God of Order’s interest in their unique law form, nonetheless, on the surface, the Greek Gods became official members of the Heavenly Mountain.

With Athena’s intelligence, she surely connects with some folks.

Yet, Hill really never expected why Apollo would seem to have a good rapport with Cyric?

Indeed, though one appears atop clouds in the sky and the other hides behind a towering tree, there seems to be interaction between the two.

Apollo’s reactions were subtler, yet crouching on the cloud edge, knowing that neither the deities below nor the devils could see him... The white clouds of the Heavenly Mountain naturally block various spy spells; only those with sharp enough eyes can spot him atop the clouds.

Though, it’s still hard to see his expression.

Luckily, once Shaer noticed him, she immediately split her camera into an extension... although still quite far, the magnification function is impressive.

At least, for Hill, it’s quite sufficient.

Selene actually isn’t unable to see, she just focuses on one thing at a time.

Wait... Hill suddenly remembered... what is Selene’s true form up to?

Shaer and Lansendel haven’t entered the Heavenly Mountain, choosing to wait below for the biggest spectacle... or rather, unless the topmost layer possessed by the God of Order is really struck down by Asmodier, they uphold their principle of ’watching the excitement from a distance’, observing from afar.

Being in the lowest layer of the Heavenly Mountain is out of concern for those old folks turning frenzied and sealing the Heavenly Mountain entirely... Though comparable to the Abyss and Hell in terms of energy planes, fate was unkind, as it emerged too late; not only was its will fully erased, but even the Plane Boss accompanying its birth was turned into obedient angels, ultimately expelled from the Heavenly Mountain.

Therefore, this tower-like box of the Heavenly Mountain can indeed be wholly shut.

Once closed, reopening it proves challenging... because Asmodier surely won’t help them open the door.

Other deities might choose to leave, but the Gods of Order can only endure at the topmost layer... If the Heavenly Mountain fails to absorb external positive energy to replenish its loss, it will start consuming the planes below.

Until only the initial small tower remains.
