Surviving The Fourth Calamity

No one could understand the current joy that overwhelmed Hill.

Upon realizing the precarious situation Draculus was in, to the point where even Ruth had to issue the gravest warning in the calmest tone, his eyes widened larger than ever.

Laisa, who never dared to look up, couldn’t detect it from his attempt to stay calm, but Carpenter and Russell, who were no longer as afraid of Hilbert, saw it clearly.

That’s why the two of them had no intention of dealing with the level 5 Mage who obviously had something to say and a favor to ask, and just wanted to quickly send her out of their house.

Otherwise, Carpenter, who was in charge of daily chores, wouldn’t have been so blunt.

Now Russell wore a distressed expression as he watched the teacher pacing incessantly on the platform, unsure of what to say.

He didn’t even know where to start to dissuade him.

Hilbert was truly thrilled.

Originally feeling down because of his past incompetence which forced him to reveal his identity to seek Draculus’ guidance, Hill was in quite a bad mood.

Of course, he wasn’t afraid to reveal his identity, but...everything he had done before felt like a slap to his own face.

Especially the airship, which he found so ugly he couldn’t bear to look at it again.

That alone could cause Draculus to mock him for thousands of years in front of Fran!

Hill just hoped to catch more leverage against Draculus before revealing his identity.

Ideally, leverage that would make Draculus unwilling to mention anything that happened in this world.

Losing face doesn’t matter as long as the opponent is worse off than Hill.

But, who let Hill fail at learning?

What exactly Glaysia did to turn Aislin into her current state is really important.

Hill vaguely felt that the importance of this matter even surpassed the inexplicable appearance and disappearance of that entity related to Lansendel.

It’s even more likely that there is some connection between these two events.

So, Hill knew he absolutely couldn’t drag this matter out for too long.

Ideally, he should clear things up with Draculus when he just arrives at the Sia Tower, before starting to construct the main Magic Tower of Kamente Tower.

Some things, knowing early, can make a big difference.

Which also meant that Hilbert’s previous efforts were all in vain...all his anger and dissatisfaction stemmed from this.

Delivering himself to be ridiculed is simply unimaginable for Hill.

Luckily, fate still favored him.

Even though he deeply resented whose hidden hand might be behind all this, Hill’s grudge had eased considerably.

Although this might also be part of someone’s scheme...Hill still willingly took the bait.

At least this time, there’s definitely someone worse off than him.

Ha~

Asmodeus delivered that slap really well~

”Teacher, why are you smiling like that?” Carpenter, who rushed back, looked astonished as he pulled Russell, who stood stiffly by the door, out the door. ”What Laisa said wasn’t that unusual, was it?

How could I not tell what’s so funny about it?

No matter how miserable Prutt’s death was, it shouldn’t make the teacher so happy, right?

Neither of us have...”

Russell looked steadily at Carpenter, then raised an eyebrow at his sister...Although it took a longer time, Carpenter seemed to realize their teacher was no longer Gilbert.

She probably had some suspicions before, and everything that happened recently confirmed her guess.

Carpenter gave her brother, who was questioning her with his eyes, a huge eye roll...Although Russell occasionally hinted at her with words, no one would easily believe such a thing just from fragments without absolute certainty!

She only figured it out after discovering the result and working it out backwards.

Moreover, these two never intended to keep it hidden from her: every time Gilbert created a strange object, he would suddenly alter a particular line to be slightly inferior.

After careful observation, Carpenter noticed he did this to maintain consistency with a previous decision.

Even though her own skills weren’t as precise, her eyes could tell which was better.

If Gilbert didn’t have a special reason, why would he choose the inferior result?

In some ways, Carpenter was a bit like Gilbert himself.

For instance, she was also a practitioner: once Carpenter mastered a technique, she would keep applying it.

She actually knew she was a bit rigid like this...Only by changing techniques in response to different creations could the most perfect work be produced.

Art is never about fixed lines.

Just like her illusion techniques.

Only when they can change with every angle, and even produce some sort of disharmony, can those trapped by them truly find no way out.

Instead of creating a perfect scene that always looks perfect from every perspective.

In this world, where is there such a perfect landscape?

The most important thing is, how could the people in the landscape always have the same face, the same personality?

Carpenter has actually realized her own limitations.

Of course, she also knows that right now, she doesn’t have the strength to consider such matters.

But on the day she realized her limitations, Carpenter finally understood what had always been bothering her: everything Master Gilbert did turned her dreams into the reality she was still striving to achieve.

Though she suffered a blow, he was her teacher.

Carpenter could only comfort herself; after all, he was her teacher, and the stronger the better.

However, after confirming that her teacher was definitely not Gilbert Hainarson, Carpenter could understand certain things: like how their teacher was undeniably attentive to the Hainarson Family, yet showed no concern.

It’s like completing a task, where only the outcome matters, regardless of the process.

Carpenter knew her teacher’s character a bit, so she could easily understand that there was certainly some agreement between her teacher and Gilbert.

So, it’s impossible for their teacher to rejoice over the tragic misfortune of Prutt, who schemed against the Hainarson Family.

Thinking it over, Carpenter realized that only the white-robed female mage descending from the sky had such value.

”Did someone that the teacher knows fall from above?” she hesitantly asked, ”How does the teacher know it’s her?”

”Archmage Ruth’s transmission seems pointless, doesn’t it?”

”There are definitely things we don’t know, but the teacher and Archmage Ruth know very well,” Russell nodded at her, ”Perhaps a sentence, a word, contains everything.”

For example, the beauty who comes stepping on moonlight.

Hilbert, hearing the conversation of the two children outside the door, squinted and smiled.

The only point in Ruth’s statement was this sentence.

Both of them certainly knew the little affection Aislin once had for Rommel.

And when Aislin brought up Rosero, she would praise him as a beauty under the moonlight, with a unique temperament.

So, there’s no need to say much.

Ruth’s hint was clear to Hilbert: someone with Aislin’s taste, like Glaysia, had fallen by Rommel’s side and favored him greatly.

Kamente Tower was powerless.

This matter might affect the future of the Tower of Dark Enigma, so Hilbert had better welcome the arrival of those from Kamente Tower... Seeing the initial development is always more accurate than the adjusted version later on.

Ruth hoped Gilbert could make a judgment from his own perspective.

Of course, Hil will certainly personally go and see.

For the first time in his life, he felt as if ’time suddenly slowed down’.

-----------------

Awaiting eagerly, Hil finally saw the slow arrival of Kamente Tower’s convoy at Sia Tower.

If the Tower of Dark Enigma had fully mobilized to welcome the last wave of colleagues, then the upper echelons of Sia Tower had virtually emptied themselves, leaving many uninformed people with confusion on their faces, lots of them looking around.

Hilbert observed slightly, and the only ones who didn’t come were Fengo and Delphus.

This wasn’t surprising.

If Glaysia was willing to make a public appearance, Fengo, always watching, would probably emerge suddenly.

As for others guessing who that might be, it’s only natural.

Glaysia was always proud of her beauty.

If there wasn’t someone she approved of, she would wear a specially made veil to obscure her appearance, but she would never easily change her image.

Let alone this time she did.

In Kamente Tower’s team, those truly belonging to him were estimated to be less than a third.

The rest, even if previously unaffiliated, during that battle chasing the giant dragon, would surely end up in someone’s embrace.

It’s worth noting even his formal student Prutt was moved... for others, the situation can only be more chaotic.

And there are matters that Kamente Tower cannot and dares not prevent.

Thus, Hil has no doubt about where Glaysia is and what she is up to that can escape the eyes of Sia Tower’s upper echelon.

They don’t have Fengo’s confidence.

Rather than being overly attentive and offensive, those raised by devils surely fear being judged by someone who thinks their attitude isn’t respectful enough.

Hil might not understand their approach, but when connected to those second-rate characters in novels he read before, he seems to find some resonance.

Then, all his diverging thoughts focused on the large airship now slightly visible: gradient of white and gray-blue at the base, and lavender fields at the bottom.

The airship’s pattern originally harmonious, yet abruptly a bright moon was added in the white clouds above.

With Hil’s keen eyes, he could clearly identify the differences between two painters.

The moon, meant to be a supporting character, but this time boldly exhibited an air of ’I am the best in the world’.
