Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Hill ultimately chose silence.

He always felt that Ruth knew a lot of things.

Hill also understood that Ruth’s mystery likely stemmed from resistance, self-rescue, or even saving the world.

But he knew even more clearly that when someone is forced to find their way in the shadows, they are inevitably entangled by those shadows.

For those who have reached the end of their road, a visitor from the Otherworld is far less important than their own people.

Once Hill’s true identity is discovered...even if they have reservations, in a crisis, the first person they would betray would undoubtedly be Hill.

Moreover, who knows if Asmodeus really remains deceived by their cautiousness?

What if one of their organization’s hidden strong figures is the Lord of Hell himself?

This kind of thing, Asmodeus has always been good at.

Hill always had a feeling that the longer he remained hidden in this world, the more advantageous it would be.

Besides, doesn’t the Tower of Dark Enigma already have an existence that might be targeted as a scapegoat!

He could completely rely on the observations from the side of Drakrus Rommel to deduce the truth of this world.

After all, his first choice was correct...many things, as expected, could only be slightly noticed upon reaching the Sia Tower.

At least, Hill now clearly understands Glaysia’s role: this Princess of Hell, no matter what she tries so hard to do, ultimately is just a joke.

Just like the Silvermoon Divine Power she worked so diligently to condense.

Hill, who is very familiar with the true Power of the Moon, could only shake his head and smile after carefully examining this divine power’s composition.

The Power of the Moon extracted from Moonlight Rose indeed contains some not very favorable willpower.

If you continuously inhale the scent of that rose, or use that rose to make food and clothing, you might gradually be eroded by that willpower, eventually becoming a puppet under Silvermoon’s control.

Of course, in the situation where a certain suspected master, Glaysia, is not planning to do anything, this power will only remain dormant within their bodies.

Only when they attempt rebellion, or have harmful thoughts towards Glaysia, would this power take control instantly.

But this, seems akin to the dark side of Silvermoon, or more directly, like the terrifying control power only Shaer, who commands Shadow Force, possesses.

It’s just that the power Glaysia controls is clearly incomplete, more like a small part that remained connected to the Power of the Dark Moon beside Celene when things were split in two.

It should be the part that was once stolen by the Mist Goddess: mist and lies.

From how Celene can casually throw this power to her subordinates, it’s clear that she doesn’t particularly favor this divinity connected to Shaer’s Power of the Dark Moon.

Her final decision to reclaim it was more out of disgust for that traitor, rather than truly cherishing her own divinity...and she decisively left the part related to lies for the Primordial.

Of course, this isn’t some inexplicable outbreak of sympathy and mercy...Celene merely left a more suitable enemy for that person.

She herself just kills, but the other one, indulges in torturous killing.

However, if this control-related divine power were exceptionally mighty, Celene isn’t foolish; she wouldn’t just toss it around recklessly!

Puppets made from illusion, lies, and mist are very easily rescued.

A little Purple Feather Grass, combined with alcohol...just a minimal amount...mixed with pure Water Elemental Power, can rapidly dissipate the willpower within the moonlight.

And even though Purple Feather Grass is rare, when a plant sprawls across mountains and fields, no matter how sparse its variants are, it’s not difficult to find.

In most of the vacant areas of the Sia Tower, various wild grasses grow...Feather Grass occupies a large share among them.

Of course, the mages are more focused on the various wildflowers blooming among those grasses...for use as dyes.

As for food, the fields they cultivate suffice.

Even for the Sia Town outside, they don’t need to rely on Black Taro for survival.

Though the food is still rough, like black rye, ordinary people can only afford black bread.

But compared to the world outside, they live better than most apprentices, and even some lower-tier mages in small Magic Towers probably can’t live this comfortably.

However, this formula has one rarest ingredient: Pure Water Elemental Power.

Due to the world’s properties, it’s difficult for this world to condense such pure Water Elemental Power; even summoned clear water contains some impurities.

Mages have long grown accustomed to the instability of elemental properties.

Just like the Elemental Pool in their Magic Tower.

In general, only a Master of Strange Objects like Gilbert would bother with the pure power that requires massive energy and an absolutely closed environment to extract.

Of course, a Ninth Ring Mage like Ruth can also do it, but it would waste a lot of mana, and unless necessary, they’d be too lazy to bother.

Moreover, in Sia Tower, it’s even harder to obtain that truly pure elemental power.

One careless mistake, and you’ve let Sia’s Power of the Moon slip by.

And how could Pure Water made with such Power of the Moon possibly possess purifying effects?

But unless people know what’s really going on, they won’t specifically research methods to exclude such power... after all, it doesn’t affect normal usage.

This approach is truly devilish.

The moment Hill figured it out, he couldn’t help but grimace... The Asmodier that appeared in Aesces was definitely not the real him.

Or rather, to conceal his true intentions, the Lord of Hell at that time was a bit overly polite.

Polite to the point of being unlike his true self.

Hill looked at the moon and sighed softly.

This newborn universe, Teraxil, although it has encountered many unfortunate events, was initially shielded by an exceptionally strong boundary membrane, like an eggshell, keeping all exterior malice outside.

As for the World Tree, being one of the earliest life forms to appear in the Fantasy World, it was inherently very sensitive to these matters.

Moreover, he only sent a seed into the newborn universe.

This tree, in the end, will grow into whatever form that reflects the temperament of this new universe.

The growth of trees is forever influenced by the external environment, as it roots here and grows here.

Even though Teraxil has fallen into misfortune, the breath of the Goddess of the Earth already occupies the entire planet, and even the entire universe... The truly fearsome enemies understand who stands behind her.

The scheming is fine, but to truly go to battle with swords and guns, before the interests reach that level, even the maddened Demon Prince won’t act rashly.

But this world is different.

Although possessing equally valuable earth... you can see from this world’s earth managing to completely reject magic yet still retain a trace of remaining consciousness that its inherent qualities are quite good.

Even with a complete sun and moon, Hill can see from the natural alternation of day and night that this world is mature.

But when this world’s existence cautiously extends a probing hand to the outside world, what it attracts is devils, even the most powerful devils.

A world with relatively good luck might encounter cosmic travelers who are very likely to be elves that enjoy wandering the universe.

Not all elves settle in Toril following their own Main God... This kind of elf that left the Elf Deity System from the beginning to travel freely possesses power close to that of a demigod, although their personality is very carefree and liberated, at least they bear no malice.

They might even be drawn by excessive curiosity to help humans of a newborn world contact brand new knowledge beyond the universe.

This is also why, despite elves having so many flaws, most worlds have a good impression of them.

Their communities as long as they don’t exceed a certain number, are actually quite easy to get along with.

And generally, the first outsiders encountered by a world are those Exterior Gods roaming the universe... They harbor significant hostility towards newborn worlds, but as long as there is sufficient power, resisting them is not too difficult.

Even though there might be heavy losses initially, in a way, the appearance of many deities occurs either because the world naturally develops to that stage or emerges during these battles to save the world.

However, this world’s luck was probably negative from the very start.

Negative to the extent that even their initially born Innate Deities had no power to resist and were directly reduced to remains by the Lord of Hell summoned by their own people.

Yes, after Hill carefully calculated the flow of time in this world, he can confirm that Asmodier used some method to have the people of this world complete a terrifying sacrificial ritual, great enough to allow him to enter with all his power.

Otherwise, he couldn’t have appeared so blatantly before the world even entirely emerged from its novice phase.

Therefore, this world, aside from humans, having no other powerful creatures surviving is likely due to this.

Originally, Hill suspected that the disappearance of large animals was due to the elemental shift of this world, but the Red Dragon’s unrestrained life made him instantly change this thought.

Just like Teraxil’s sea turtles, there should always be some powerful creatures that can withstand any harsh environment, even surviving without eating temporarily, that ought to endure such an environment, fit for even ordinary humans.

Hill pressed his forehead: So why did humans emerge so early in this world?

Normal world development usually sees humans, who stir trouble with curiosity and desire, appear only when the world is about mature.

Yet humans here seem to have existed since the birth of deities.

So do they also have a mischievous Moon Goddess?
