Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Rosero looked again and again, hesitating to speak.

He truly felt that ’Aislin’ was overly focused on that Gilbert.

Every time he probed, it seemed to result in a somewhat shocking reaction.

But there was another concern in his mind: the relationship between ’Aislin’ and Gilbert was notoriously bad.

Moreover, when she managed to get Gilbert out of Ruth’s central area, it was he who personally helped... Otherwise, even if Ruth was too busy, he would have felt something.

Thus, Rosero suspected that this lady was using Gilbert to bait him.

If he harbored ill intentions toward ’Aislin’ and sought to plot against her, then Gilbert would be an excellent point of entry.

Especially when their relationship was clearly so unharmonious, yet they could closely cooperate, it made people even more suspicious.

Rosero pondered for a few seconds and decisively decided to leave the matter alone.

Whatever ’Aislin’ verbally instructed him, he would only do that.

He would absolutely not entertain any clever schemes.

He had survived for so many years by being cautious and would never put himself forward as a scapegoat.

What if ’Aislin’ wanted to see who would make a move against Gilbert?

She didn’t care if that guy lived or died.

If she truly cared about Gilbert’s life, she wouldn’t constantly mention him... Ruth, to say the least, if they really wanted to deal with him, it certainly wouldn’t be because of Aislin.

Yet, that Oliva, with whom she had the most complex relationship, inexplicably lost presence.

Heh~ If Gilbert was someone who needed her protection, then what about Oliva, who had lived with her longer?

Either her words were false, or she had never been genuine; anyway, Gilbert Hainarson didn’t seem like someone she cared about.

Rosero suddenly blinked hard, struggling to swallow back all those distracting thoughts... He couldn’t help it; overthinking had become ingrained in his bones.

He had to regain the survival laws of the palace... He must ensure that when listening to these nonsensical and supposedly suggestive words, he only perceived the surface and never displayed an expression of having another opinion.

Sigh... This was the greatest suffering for him, relying on others’ favor for survival.

Rosero earnestly encouraged himself that as long as he could endure this major event, he would essentially possess the strength to venture out and do something.

For Demons, Toril was actually a good place.

Worlds like this small one were certainly nice, but small worlds were very easy to become battlefields for the two major forces.

The world controlled by Devils would surely attract Demons to come smelling opportunities.

Rosero didn’t want to just walk out the door and be harmed by a Demon Lord.

As for seeking a new world in the Stellar Realm, if he had such courage, how could he be lurking in Glaysia’s palace for so many years?

Therefore, his goal was naturally Toril, a world well-suited for diverse existence.

Once he established sufficient military exploits in Toril, he could exchange it for suitable territory in Hell.

Combined with the minor connection with Glaysia, he might endure long enough to become a Grand Duke.

Rosero did not possess the ambition to control an entire Hell, so he would be satisfied as long as he could ensure he wasn’t easily thrown into the Blood War battlefield.

After enduring for so many years, he finally saw a chance to emerge and would never let curiosity or ambition lead to ruin!

No matter what ’Aislin’ wanted to probe, Rosero would not harbor any hostility toward her.

If she truly intended to stir trouble, she should go find Glaysia.

Rosero would only do what he was supposed to... isn’t he just supposed to torment Delphus?

He had countless ways to make that guy cough up most of his wealth.

And then... Rosero lowered his head in thought; he better drag Delphus to find that Energy Mine!

He felt ’Aislin’s’ restless intentions made him a little afraid... Who would make a move against their biggest support before standing firm?

Even if she was your greatest enemy, it’s the same.

Normally, people, no, normally Devils, should, like him, survive to the end, even if living stealthily, right?

During this period, Rosero wondered countless times about the critical question of ’Who exactly had Glaysia sliced their soul’.

If not for Demons having no souls, no, it should be that Demons fused with their flesh cannot be made into Soul Crystals, Rosero would have suspected which demon slice she used!

’Aislin’ glanced at Rosero, who looked like his soul was about to escape, and nodded in satisfaction: It turned out Glaysia hadn’t discovered the problem with her soul.

Otherwise, Rosero wouldn’t be showing such a dying expression.

This guy was always slick; unless there was a direct order from Glaysia, he would typically avoid what he saw as high-level conflicts.

So, clearly, Glaysia hadn’t paid special attention to her yet.

That’s good.

As for whether Gilbert will run into trouble because of her testing... does she care about Gilbert’s life or death?

What a joke.

Didn’t she make Gilbert’s presence particularly prominent from the very beginning?

That guy, sharp and slick, who knows how many times he’s secretly helped Aislin... Heh, although she can’t see what those two are up to, they must be up to something.

She doesn’t need evidence; as long as she discovers that Aislin’s soul’s strength has not decreased but increased, wouldn’t she know?

As for the more likely Ruth, there’s nothing she can do to that old man.

Aislin is also an astonishing oddball. She believes Gilbert can definitely protect himself, but if ’Aislin’ schemes something against Ruth, she would immediately turn hostile, afraid that ’Aislin’ would cause Ruth even the slightest harm.

If Gilbert is really helping her, then it’s like feeding all that goodwill to the dogs!

Since there’s nowhere else to vent, ’Aislin’ naturally takes Gilbert as a convenient target.

As for Oliva... ’Aislin’ couldn’t convince herself to show even a hint of fondness for that guy.

It’s too humiliating.

If Glaysia heard such rumors and then saw what Oliva was really like, she probably wouldn’t even think about it, she’d just smack this shameful succubus queen’s avatar to death before considering anything else.

The kind of existence she sincerely falls for would have either an exceptionally beautiful face or a radiant soul, and both would be even better.

Oliva, who can’t even come close, is really not presentable!

She can’t directly show hostility towards Oliva, and Aislin wouldn’t agree either!

Calculations aside, taking direct action is another matter entirely.

Gilbert is the only suitable one, good-looking, talented, and his personality—even ’Aislin’ could only say he is a bit odd, rather than too bad.

As for whether Glaysia would fall for it or not, she was only going along with her own convenience and didn’t have any specific goal in mind.

”Then, shall we just wait for Delphus to strike?” Rosero asked hesitantly, ”When do you think it’s most likely?”

”When Great Magician Nicholson’s territory is fully stabilized and connected with Master Ruth’s Main Tower,” ’Aislin’ said with a giggle, ”On that day, our side’s Main Magic Array will also need to be shut down.

And Gilbert’s independent Magic Array, to those who’ve never really encountered it, it can at best withstand a few attacks from a Ninth Ring Mage.”

Rosero was taken aback: ”I know he has a good talent with arrays, but... this strong?”

”You always praised Master Ruth’s great Magic Tower’s Main Magic Array for integrating energy absorption, energy-saving, defensive, and counterattack functions well, didn’t you?

This complex array form is something that Gilbert invented in these years learning the standard arrays.

What do you say about his talents?” ’Aislin’ slightly smiled, ”And besides, when he was still a Fifth Circle Mage and had never dealt with standard runes, he could still use a Magic Array to repel that version of me.”

Rosero showed no hint of emotion... As for that Aislin, when calculating her power, they usually regarded her as mid-level of the Seven Rings.

Crossing two levels, and still using a Magic Array, any mage with a bit more talent and intellect can achieve it.

Only in this world, due to scarce resources, does cross-level combat seem particularly remarkable.

Thus, in his view, Gilbert’s abilities are not yet impressive enough to make Glaysia lower her gaze.

Just a genius in a small world, not one that transcends the limits of the world.

However, though Rosero hopes someone could divert Glaysia’s attention, someone with that kind of unique existence is still improbable: such individuals’ greatest talent is not talent, but turning adversity into fortune.

As someone like him, either you find a way to use all your strength to suppress him before he rises, or... just avoid him altogether.

If you really send him to become a male pet, let him suffer humiliation only to gain greater power, and greater ability later on, the first thing he would do is turn around and kill Rosero?

He would never do something so foolish!

But, if a truly dazzling existence appears, even if Rosero doesn’t do it, there will always be fools who do... and Glaysia would never stand for it.

In short, one sentence: Glaysia is always the greatest disaster.

Rosero smiled: ”So, we just need to wait here and then reach Gilbert’s Magic Tower as fast as possible?

This way, the longer they take to act, the less room there is for objection.

But, that Pet...”

”Don’t bother with Pet.” ’Aislin’ sneered, ”No matter what she wants to use Gilbert for, her main purpose is still testing our Tower of Dark Enigma.

Anyone with a clear head wouldn’t just go against a faction’s enemy with someone they barely know without informing Master Ruth.

Gilbert, he’s not... a brainless fool, even if he doesn’t come looking for me, he’d find the teacher.”

You two really are senior sisters and junior brothers, naturally matched, haven’t even thought through this well.

Rosero suddenly realized.
