Surviving The Fourth Calamity

”Miss Aislin, is there something you need from me?” Rosero in his flowing white robe looked up with a smile at the female mage descending like a red cloud from the sky.

Then, he casually turned his head to glance at the distant auxiliary tower... He was sensitive to the appreciative gazes from women.

However, being familiar with this area of Ruth, he knew what kind of people were there: a bunch of immature young girls.

Of course, if it weren’t for this moment, he wouldn’t mind showing off his excellence and capability.

But at this moment, Rosero would absolutely refrain from unwanted actions.

As a Duke of Demons who was trusted by Glaysia and followed her from hell, Rosero understood his mistress well.

If it were just her, she might applaud seeing Rosero use his charms and sweet words to seduce a group of foolishly naive girls.

But at this moment, Rosero had to deal with two.

Especially the ’Aislin’ in front of him.

Glaysia really paid attention to her, yet her attitude was peculiar.

Although this was also a part of herself, she occasionally showed jealousy... Rosero, who had some understanding of the deities, really suspected this doppelgänger had messed up again.

It could be understood.

If even Glaysia could do so, such a powerful existence as Asmodeus wouldn’t only have one true doppelgänger available.

At other times, when Asmodeus appeared, it was actually an illusion.

Only when he needed to battle someone, would he swap the illusion for the doppelgänger’s position... Clearly, the doppelgänger didn’t possess the terrifying and powerful strength of the main body.

This was just a doppelgänger. Even the Lord of Hell wouldn’t want him to risk any chance of being ambushed. It’s understandable, how difficult it would be to let a devil have the abilities of a deity.

Let alone, an incarnation that is almost another perspective of the main person.

Once Rosero understood this, he knew that despite obtaining Glaysia’s trust and being given the task to interact with this ’Aislin’ like the doppelgänger, he absolutely couldn’t appear too intimate with her.

This was why he only stayed by ’Aislin’s’ side constantly when she first entered Sia Tower, and then when everyone understood that her status was basically equal to his, and not to be easily provoked, he immediately returned to the White Tower.

Rosero was very clear, by doing this, though Glaysia seemed to think he was neglecting ’Aislin’, she was actually quite satisfied.

Although Glaysia rarely felt jealousy, once she did, it would surely be more terrifying than anyone else’s.

Conversely, he might also earn ’Aislin’s’ displeasure.

However, for now, this lady seemed to have her own little thoughts. Even if she might feel he isn’t meeting her expectations, she preferred Rosero not to tail her closely.

Having served Glaysia for so many years, Rosero could certainly sense that ’Aislin’ had her own secrets.

This Princess of Hell never knew how to hide her emotions.

’Aislin’ indeed tried hard to make herself more like herself... but her means were too crude, so crude that Rosero had to choose not to look at her to make it believable that he noticed nothing.

It was really difficult for him.

But Rosero knew that a doppelgänger like ’Aislin’ must have been made using a piece of Glaysia’s soul.

Even if ’Aislin’ was up to something, she wouldn’t aim to kill Glaysia, at most she was fighting for some autonomy, or rather, the confidence not to be retracted at any moment.

Even if she failed, she would merely return to Glaysia’s soul.

But if this piece of soul was dissatisfied with Rosero, once reclaimed, it could affect Glaysia’s emotions.

Rosero would have to be insane to get involved in Glaysia’s internal soul battle.

Whatever she intended, playing dumb was his only path to survival.

Yet he also had to ensure not to let ’Aislin’ think he was looking down on her soul... the Duke of Demons, living was indeed hard!

Thus, even with a slight interest in the purity revealed by the glances from the girls in the adjacent auxiliary tower, Rosero quickly suppressed his thoughts and didn’t dare to even tilt his head in that direction.

If by any chance ’Aislin’ felt he despised her for being a doppelgänger, favoring instead the youthful and beautiful girls with independent souls, he would not need to think about what comes next.

He would be done for immediately.

After all, it seemed ’Aislin’ and Glaysia were capable of communicating across space... like today, although ’Aislin’ hadn’t sent people to the White Tower, Glaysia had directly instructed him to seek out Aislin: she had something for him to do.

Rosero looked at the red-clad woman in front of him with his gentlest gaze, ”Beautiful Aislin, please give your commands.

Rosero is ready to give anything for you at any time.”

’Aislin’ slightly curled her lips, ”It’s no big deal.”

She was actually quite understanding of Rosero.

Though this fellow was indeed loyal to Glaysia, he was one of the rare ones who stayed the longest within that Succubus Queen’s palace, coming from the devil lineage.

But the reason for his longevity was his never meddling in others’ affairs, only earning what he should.

And, he didn’t care whether he could obtain greater benefits from Glaysia... for Glaysia, the benefits gained from serving her were far lesser than those reaped from being favored by her.

Furthermore, the disparity was too vast.

Otherwise, her loves would not lose their equilibrium due to falling out of favor abruptly.

Many thought before entering the Royal Palace that just securing some gain was sufficient. Could it be worse than before?

However, after being elevated to enjoy the most resplendent and luxurious life imaginable, a fall to merely a reasonable lifestyle was impossible for most to come out of.

And those who managed, like Rosero, must have had a desire strongly enough to suppress that terrifying chasm.

’Aislin’ in Glaysia’s past form couldn’t comprehend these, but after inheriting Aislin’s memories, she seemed to understand a bit.

Although Aislin lived freely, she hadn’t started from such a high position.

She too had navigated tumultuous roads, enduring countless setbacks.

So, Aislin could understand Rosero’s method of ’not speaking unless involved.’

Though Aislin had some secrets buried deep within her soul, ones even she found hard to reach... Though she wasn’t entirely unable to explore, the countless, dense soul claws locked Aislin’s soul, blocking the path there too.

’Aislin’ too couldn’t directly reach into that narrowly occupied deep soul spot without touching any of the small claws.

If Aislin might choose to blow up her soul anytime, causing ’Aislin’ to crash under Glaysia’s nose, ’Aislin’ had no choice but to let her retain that bit of secrecy.

Anyway, it was merely related to Ruth, or perhaps the top secrets of the Tower of Dark Enigma.

But what did that have to do with her?

’Aislin’s’ greatest hope was to remain alive, rather than for Glaysia’s reign.

Moreover, for her who knew many secrets, from the start, the Archmages had chosen the wrong direction, posing essentially no threat.

Their every struggle harmed only their own world.

Heh~

Managing to persevere for this long was already testament enough to this world’s indomitable will.

Further, Aislin didn’t have the capability to read into her memory... and even if she did, what would come of it?

No matter how exemplary her performance in front of Ruth, she withheld her true secret!

Already having acquired the vast majority of Aislin’s memories and emotions, ’Aislin’ ceased to care about what little she retained.

Moreover, she was somewhat satisfied...

Those desires Glaysia couldn’t comprehend nor feel, she ’Aislin’ had attained!

If after completing in this world, she could still preserve her existence, then, transitioning to a demon form upon return to hell, she would never fare worse than those Grand Dukes!

Only through understanding the origins and departs of desire can a devil command it, resonating with the energy of the nine layers of hell.

Thus, the more fundamental the devil, the more ruthless, living like a puppet.

They originally possessed no emotions, driven solely by desires to ignite emotional waves.

Slowly leading Rosero into her auxiliary tower, ’Aislin’ revealed a pleased smile... Her auxiliary tower was, in fact, Ruth’s side’s most defensively powerful one.

If it hadn’t been for Aislin’s resolute refusal to let her allow Rosero to inscribe the array, only accepting some transcendent resources and then inviting Ruth to craft...

Forget it, it could also be understood.

Tch~ Understand what?

If she wished, she could communicate messages to Glaysia anytime.

Did they really think relying on that measly threat could suppress her?

Had she not had her own little thoughts...

Turning to Rosero, ’Aislin’ evenly recited Gilbert’s invitation.

This time, Rosero was genuinely astonished, ”What? You said Gilbert told you, the assets of Delphus, truly, are they so vast?”

”Pet said, she wants Gilbert to cooperate with her.” ’Aislin’ chuckled, ”You should understand better than us whether her words are true.”
