Surviving The Fourth Calamity

The rapidly advancing ’Aislin’ flying towards the Gilbert Magic Tower suddenly raised her hand, stopping Rosero who followed behind her.

”Hm? What’s wrong?” Rosero, dressed in a white robe yet faintly blending into the exceptionally bright moonlight, asked gently.

”Delphus seems to have brought out a Mana Giant Crossbow.” ’Aislin’ asked softly, ”Wasn’t it said that these special Strange Objects from the Defense Tower were all destroyed by the Tower Master before his death?”

”Indeed, a father is always different, isn’t he?” Rosero’s tone was unusually meaningful, ”Even if his own child stands on the enemy’s side, that father still leaves him the final protection.”

’Aislin’ completely did not ’understand’ the insinuation in his words.

After all, her concern was about Glaysia’s affairs.

As for whether that Princess of Hell was defying her own father, what did it matter to someone like her, who still had to struggle to survive?

Her stance, perhaps, aligned more with the interests of the Lord of Hell!

Just like Rosero.

They were the ones truly unwilling for Glaysia to turn the world upside down, making Asmodeus descend personally to clean up his daughter’s mess!

’Aislin’ merely pointed at the somewhat sly figure seen from the side: ”Delphus, what exactly is the enmity with the Hainarson Clan?

This item, isn’t it supposed to be used for self-preservation?

Everyone knowing he has this thing, even if by some small chance it saves him this time, who would give him another opportunity to use it?”

Sometimes, daunt as a behavior, has the greatest deterrent before it’s actually employed.

If actually used, and lets observers understand its power and usage, well, eventually someone will think of a solution to counter it.

Delphus’s enemies are not few, and they are all influential families from the Sia Tower... Presumably, at this time, they are all watching closely, even using Strange Object Crystals to record it from start to finish, and then taking it back for repeated playing.

’Aislin’ doesn’t believe Delphus couldn’t think of even this much, otherwise he wouldn’t have hidden it for so many years.

Especially given that his conflict with Pet was quite intense.

Despite having exceptional combat power and a swarm of followers, even including Ninth Ring figures, he didn’t force him to produce such a powerful weapon, so why for a small fry like Gilbert...? ’Aislin’ couldn’t understand.

”The Hainarson Archmage of the Defense Tower was a rather quiet person.” Rosero also searched his memory in some confusion. ”He seldom interacted with outsiders. Gilbert somewhat shared his demeanor.

Except for a select few whom he found agreeable, others scarcely had the chance to step into his Magic Tower.

Enemies surely exist, but consider your attitude towards Gilbert...”

’Aislin’ understood his implied meaning... Even someone like her wouldn’t completely feud with Gilbert, so there was no way Delphus could have any deep grudge with the Hainarson.

If it concerned the Deputy Tower Master of the Defense Tower, the ones they wanted revenge or even total annihilation wouldn’t be the Hainarson.

Gilbert was disliked, but merely that.

In the world of mages, someone like him isn’t easily turned into a deadly enemy by most.

Who doesn’t think partners with boundaries are more worth associating with?

He even classifies his enemies into categories, rather than deeming all must be destroyed.

Just like the current ’Aislin’, though she causes many troubles for Gilbert, in crucial matters, she would find Gilbert more trustworthy... At least during cooperation, he wouldn’t backstab her.

Everything he does is aboveboard, including calculations.

If that Hainarson Archmage had half of Gilbert’s character, he indeed wouldn’t be the most hated figure of the Defense Tower.

No wonder the Hainarson Clan could survive until the end.

-----------------

Hilbert gazed off into the distance.

That woman Aislin still hadn’t come.

This guy surely was stalling, waiting for Delphus to shoot him with an arrow before making a move.

Even if his Magic Tower could withstand the attack of such a giant Strange Object, Gilbert would certainly lose a significant amount of Energy Baryte.

That woman is truly petty, both overtly and covertly.

Hill casually caressed the crystal window before him, but unfortunately, he didn’t care in the slightest.

He even rather hoped Delphus’s attack this time could be legendary, effectively equivalent to the combined strike of six Ninth Ring Archmages... the Defense Tower’s Magic Energy Crossbow is famous, Gilbert certainly wouldn’t be unaware.

Gilbert’s talents for Strange Object creation, Hill didn’t believe they were truly inferior.

Indeed, he couldn’t casually draw the most perfect arc like Hill could.

But after repeated practice, he could achieve curves that never changed, as if they were instinctually part of him.

This was also a kind of talent.

Just, in a world lacking resources, such talent was hard to manifest.

Therefore, it seemed Gilbert was more adept at carving Magic Arrays... and he was indeed very skilled.

After all, most people couldn’t create precisely identical circles and triangles without any discrepancies.

The slightest tremor of the hand and it’s another circle, which is why there’s no completely identical Magic Array reaction.

Therefore, Gilbert is a difficult person to impersonate... Ruth couldn’t possibly be unaware of this characteristic of his.

Luckily, although Hill’s talents are different from his, the outcome is the same.

Since for him, the same circle is the perfect result, then Hill wouldn’t draw any other pattern.

Ruth actually has always had some concerns about Hilbert, but only after reaching the Sia Tower did he completely ignore things on Hilbert’s side... He watched firsthand how his student created those chain arrays.

So, Hill actually wasn’t that satisfied with the array of his Magic Tower.

If it weren’t for someone like Hill, the array made with talent like Gilbert’s would actually be excellent.

But for someone who could carve the array more perfectly, it was always... a bit unsatisfactory to look at.

If Delphus really could force him to add some arrays, Hill thought he could slightly reduce the intensity of his counterattack.

Just crippling it is enough.

It’s just that this thing’s energy-gathering speed is so slow, isn’t it?

Hill looked at that Delphus with some doubt... Having taken it out, what is he pretending for?

Did he think no one knew this thing could be pre-charged?

Wait... could it be that Delphus doesn’t know how to activate the charging mode?

So, did he take it down from the Defense Tower?

This charging mode requires the Main Magic Tower’s permission to activate... Delphus indeed may not know what the Key is.

But, the people at the Sia Tower didn’t notice what he did!

How did he manage that?

-----------------

Although Hilbert found it very prolonged, prolonged enough for him to wander in his thoughts.

But Delphus was quite pleased with his exceptional ability to fully charge the giant strange object in just three minutes.

Despite being somewhat surprised that Gilbert did not launch a surprise attack within those three minutes, considering that Seventh Circle Mage was so inexperienced in battle, Delphus was not concerned.

Heh~

Just a kid who doesn’t dare to show up and clash even when the opponent is preparing a big move, making Delphus feel his seemingly impulsive decision was actually very correct.

He’s not stupid; he surely knows that in this issue, Pet the woman would undoubtedly create a storm, and who knows how many will take the chance to slap him twice.

But Delphus has already prepared to hide in his Magic Tower for a century or two, so he cares even less about whether he would get hurt!

His opportunity is only once.

Only before the Tower of Dark Enigma fully enters and Glaysia formally receives them, is there a chance to strike at the enemies mingled among them.

Delphus is very aware that his unique status in the Sia Tower is due to his consistent display of steadfast loyalty.

Therefore, he shouldn’t blatantly attack once the Tower Master recognizes the other party as one of their own.

However, after testing a few times, he found that Gilbert was not stupid at all.

His intentions of luring that Seventh Circle Mage out of the Sia Tower to ambush later, are unlikely to succeed.

Rather than harboring grudges in times to come, it’s better to risk it at the right time!

Delphus’s every choice is a path off the beaten track, so he’s no longer accustomed to that slow patience.

Huge, black-purple electric bolts, almost invisible to the naked eye, shot out quickly, crossing the nearly hundred meters distance between Delphus and Gilbert, and collided directly with the top of the Magic Tower, flashing with gray-purple light.

In the flash of lightning and roar of thunder, the tremendous boom was deafening.

Hill gently lifted his head and couldn’t help but utter a soft, ”Hm?”

Only then did he remove and then quickly put back his earmuffs, after discovering Delphus’s shooting target.

The top of his Magic Tower had an Elemental Pool, which Hill thought would explode.

However, the damage caused by this attack was much less than he imagined, it didn’t even break through his magic array, and even...

Hill turned to look at the Archmage who wore a face of surprise.

At the top of the Magic Tower, the Puppet Bird Flock that had been circling began to chirp in succession.

Bands of green light shot from the top of the tower towards the bird flock.

Covered in the green light, the Puppet Bird Flock, led by the Flying Eagle, swiftly flew towards Delphus and his followers.

”What’s happening?” the female mage behind Delphus questioned loudly.

”Energy Absorbing Array! Dammit!” Delphus’s green-tinted face echoed with the sky’s green light birds, ”Why even question why! All defensive!”

Rumble! Rumble!

Before his words fell, the Puppet Bird Flock rushed at them like bombers.

The energy on the flock was evidently very strong, and even after the green light faded, they leisurely flew back to the sky.
