Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 647: Chapter 445: The Crying Deer Tavern in Quel’var Town

Hill knew what he needed now was a map.

Then, he figured he should find a way to get to the seaside. Agleya, this avatar who had followed him to Ferun, should not have come in vain.

Perhaps he could establish a name of God before this avatar dissipated!

Dealing with other deities made Hill a bit anxious, but he felt he could manage the Goddess of the Near Seas.

Hill chatted aimlessly with the big tree and ended up receiving only bad news.

This mountain range was very cold, with winter lasting long, and even such tall trees could only stay awake for half a year.

And there were dragons.

Although the big tree could not discern colors, it was at least certain there was more than one.

The dragon lair in the extremely cold northern mountain range made Hill sigh lightly. He couldn’t be in the Naser Mountain Range, could he?

He perked up and carefully questioned the big tree, finally determining his location.

Although he had landed near a dragon lair, these blue dragons had just fought and lost many underlings. There were no Goblins patrolling the peripheral area where Hill was.

Hill remembered this blue dragon family called ’Molremi Bloodline’.

It was the largest lair near the Silvermoon Alliance and originally had six blue dragons.

He remembered that two couples had killed their own father and drove their mother away.

They seemed to have also clashed with the followers of the Goddess Loweta over some matter.

Of course, the most important reason Hill remembered this group of dragons was that they had created the Dragon Vein Earth Elementals.

Boring people always focus on such subtle aspects.

Yet it left some advantages for his current self, at least Hill could confirm his location. Now, he just needed to head south to reach the Silvermoon Alliance.

It seemed that they had finished their battle with Loweta’s monastery, which indeed made things a lot easier for Hill.

Although he was not afraid of those dragons, Hill didn’t like trouble.

Having confirmed his direction, he bid farewell to the big tree that had helped him, gave it a gift, and then headed south without looking back.

In Ferun, was there any place more suitable for Hill than Silvermoon City?

He also remembered the outcome of the blue dragons going mad, which was to attack the Beastmen.

And Silvermoon City, almost a paradise for Mages, of course, if you had money.

If not, one could only hope to be exceptionally talented, as the Supreme Lady Arasdro really liked to help talented young people.

Although Hill didn’t have Ferun money, he had brought many quite pure gold bars.

Just thinking about the knowledge that could be bought with money excited him, making him leap and shuttle through the branches.

As he moved, Hill could feel the faint dragon aura.

Hill felt completely safe.

Ordinary dragons really posed no threat to him; his spirit hadn’t even issued any warnings.

Indeed, encountering an Ancient Red Dragon and two Dragon Kings from the start had skewed his judgment of dragons.

Hill swiftly left the territory of the blue dragons, bypassing the fortress of destruction.

He couldn’t help but take a glance back, but the guards here were still ordinary Goblins.

Finally confirming the Goblins’ height, Hill turned back to look in the direction of the cave.

Although he had heard that any female dragon would do, the disparity was just too great, wasn’t it?

Hill unfolded his Wings of Wind and Thunder and soared into the sky, looking around.

The spot he emerged from was at the edge of the desert; he should head further west.

Sure enough, before long, he saw the first small town.

Hill had not planned to stop, but seeing a large number of Half-Elves in the town below, he couldn’t help being moved and landed directly.

This place was close to the Supreme Forest; perhaps he could hear some news.

However, before landing, he needed to change his Crystal Flower outer garment to a traditional Mage Robe, the kind worn by the Undead Tribe. Although it was convenient, it was too conspicuous here.

Hill just hoped that those Goddesses of Love and Beauty, after seeing a lot of Undead girls in fresh long robes and skirts, would come back and spread the word; otherwise, Hill was no longer used to wearing these bulky Mage Robes.

People of the Silvermoon Alliance were already used to Mages flying back and forth and did not show much curiosity about Hill’s arrival.

Of course, the respect was always there.

The Magical System profession in Ferun had not yet been hit; they were still Mage Masters!

Hill strolled through this town called Quel’var, observing the Professionals of higher levels who seemed to like going to a tavern.

Hill felt the friendly and peaceful atmosphere of this forest town and couldn’t help but follow them into the bustling Crying Deer Tavern.

”Hey~ Stranger, care for a drink?” Hill had just walked in when he received a cheerful greeting.

”I only drink fruit wine,” Hill casually replied, his eyes and hands quick as he seated himself at the last empty table.

This place was mostly filled with Rangers, so no one would mock him for not drinking strong liquor.

Yet, the tavern still erupted with a loud bang, many stomping and raising their glasses.

”Haha! I told you, looking like that, he must be a Half-Elf!” a Half-Elf in Elf Leather Armor cheerfully exclaimed, ”The ones who lost the bet, pay up!”

”He hasn’t admitted it yet! A Mage speaking Elf language is quite normal!” a Human warrior complained.

”Stop struggling, Tayn, his usage is classic Gold Elves language, not the type Mages learn,” the bartender who first approached Hill said, bringing him a cup of pure golden drink on a tray.

”Respected Mage sir, please forgive our trivialities. The summer is about to end, and once the heavy snow seals the mountains, we will have safely passed another year.

They are a bit overly excited.” The bartender smiled and spoke to Hill in Elf language, ”Sir, have you just left the forest? How well do you speak Common Language?”

Hill blinked and slowly replied, ”Not bad. Do you have anything to eat?” He switched to Common Language himself.

”Your way of speaking is too archaic,” the bartender shook his head, ”It’s fine for communicating with Mages, but ordinary people might find it a bit challenging.

Your elders haven’t been out for a while, have they? I remember these were terms favored during the Nesser Era.”

Hill remained silent and nodded: by Ferun’s time reckoning, it seemed the Elven God King and others were indeed ancient antiques.

”Are you planning to go to Silvermoon City?” the bartender cheerfully asked, ”Hold on, I’ll go get you our signature meal from here.”

”Please call me Hill,” Hill thought for a moment and said with a smile to the friendly bartender.

”I’m Lynn,” the bartender answered loudly as he was about to reach the bar, ”A Chanter!”

A follower of the God of Singing, Miliel!

It seems he’s a Bard doubling as a Priest.

Soon, Lynn came out carrying a large iron platter: on the left were two seafood hot dogs, made by mixing seafood with cheese sauce and stuffing it into hot dog buns.

In the middle was a mountain of salty lamb chops.

On the right were sausages and several large meatballs, beneath which was a generous serving of mashed potatoes.

”Try this!” Lynn placed the massive iron platter in front of Hill, ”This is our house signature meal! Even Silvermoon City doesn’t have it! Many come from far just for this!”

From the side came a hearty laugh, ”Lynn! You’re exaggerating! One day when Silvermoon City’s chief chef shows up, you’re done for!”

Hill laughed and pointed to the seat opposite him, ”Join me for a chat! It’s my first time here, and I indeed know nothing. Order whatever you want to drink, it’s on me.”

Lynn nodded in satisfaction and went to pour himself a drink.

Hill could feel it wasn’t any expensive liquor, after all, many Rangers sitting around were drinking it.

”This is Aquavitae,” Lynn said with a smile to Hill, ”The North is too cold! After staying there long, you get used to drinking strong liquor like this. You’re not accustomed yet, don’t let others persuade you to drink it! This drink is really strong, even the Dwarves can be knocked down by it.”

Hill couldn’t help but shake his head with a smile, ”I’m a Mage; I can’t possibly drink strong liquor.”

Then, more raucous laughter erupted around him, some even whistling and stomping their feet.

Hill was a bit perplexed, Mages shouldn’t drink alcohol anyway! Isn’t it the same in any world?

”They’re not laughing at you,” Lynn sighed, ”You look like an academic type, unaware of what wild Mages are like. They say if you don’t drink, you can’t even cast Fire Element Magic.

They’re happy because next time they team up with a Mage for a patrol, they can ridicule those guys.”

Hill blinked, not sure what to say.

It was normal for Mages to secretly drink, but to drink to the extent that even the Rangers looked down on them, that was a bit too debased.

”Mage, why did you come in here?” the Half-Elf who had collected the money earlier hopped over, ”Those guys always get drinks to take away, never wanting to sit inside.”

”But this place was originally for drinking and eating,” Hill stated calmly, ”When you’re hungry, naturally you come inside to eat.”

”Eh~” the Half-Elf laughed, ”Don’t be mad~ It’s just rare for a Mage to want to enter a place where Ranger Warriors hang out. Did your elders never mention anything?”

Hill looked up at him, ”A Mage’s nobility lies within their heart, not in who they dine with.”

He revealed a sharp smile as he gathered a thunderous light on his finger, ”Within range, that is the truth, isn’t it?”

The Half-Elf backed away with a forced smile, ”Sorry, sorry! I won’t disturb your chat anymore.”

”Could you put that thing away?” Lynn asked, holding his drink, afraid to sit down, ”I always feel like it’s going to explode on my face!

Your Mage level must be very high.”

Hill modestly nodded, ”Not bad.”

He picked up a knife and fork and began eating slowly, his posture exuding elegance, which made Lynn sigh, ”Were you brought up entirely under Elf education?”

”No, my paternal side is nobility,” Hill swallowed a bite of sausage before replying, ”Is this venison? It tastes really good.”

”Correct, that’s our specialty here,” Lynn answered with a smile, ”If you like it, buy more, the stuff in Silvermoon City is all spices, the taste of the meat is gone.”

Hill thought for a moment before asking, ”Can I buy it all?”
