Surviving The Fourth Calamity

While Hill was engrossed in his mapping, the Undead Tribe neatly dispatched the God of Travel.

Hill hadn’t expected it to happen so quickly. The God of Travel was supposed to be no less formidable than the King of Insects, who was still holding his own against the Undead Tribe. How could the God of Travel have fallen so easily?

Hill couldn’t help but inquire about the battle with the Undead Tribe.

Surprisingly, the Undead Tribe told Hill that when the deity fell, all his high-level followers suddenly dropped dead.

A good number of the ordinary priests survived, but those who were truly devout perished as well.

Such a thing had never happened when the Undead Tribe had slain deities before.

Hill suspected it was because they had truly killed the deity this time, rather than merely putting him into a type of slumber as in the past. After a few hundred years, he could have been roused by the calls of his followers.

The fates of the other gods killed by the Undead Tribe were not as terrifying as that of the God of Travel, probably because their followers were not as devout.

The deities of the Evil Faction only demanded their followers adhere strictly and fear them, understanding well that aside from a few who were brainwashed, normal people would not dedicate themselves wholly to an evil god.

An evil god lured followers through brainwashing and threats, or by forcing them into a corner where they could never turn back.

It was quite common for the Goddess of Spring to lack followers.

In the words of the Undead Tribe, even the loyal followers who were protected by this goddess inside her Grand Temple quickly surrendered, faster than the followers of evil gods.

The God of Travel was indeed a responsible deity who would intervene when his followers were being extorted or robbed by the Undead Tribe. He was truly integrated with his divinity.

Because of this, the Undead Tribe held some respect for the God of Travel. Even though he was an enemy, they did not dislike him.

This was the most normal enemy they had encountered since entering this world. During the battles, many of the Undead Tribe were moved to tears, although this might have been because many had just come from the Country of Insects.

However, they also felt that during the battle, the God of Travel was on a similar level as the legendary raid bosses set up by William.

He was extremely rigid, not at all like a real person.

Hill had already heard several people mutter that the God of Travel was easier to deal with than the former Dwarven God of Forging.

They simply looked at which side had more people, paying no regard to whether that side had greater destructive capabilities. With flexible deployment of Defensive Knights and Holy Knights, fighting was easy.

The team of priests was something the God of Travel simply ignored.

If it had been the God of Forging, he would have targeted the most vulnerable areas with the fewest people first.

Standing firm and fighting straightforwardly, of course the Undead Tribe used their strongest attacks against the God of Travel, making it easy for those in magic-based professions, so their attitude towards him was quite positive.

Though the God of Travel was defeated, he died honorably in battle, and the Undead Tribe did not engage in any trivial acts to humiliate him.

The God of Secrecy, who might have been instigating a fight between the Undead Tribe and the God of Travel, might even have felt relieved, almost preferring a swift death.

The Undead Tribe happily shared with Hill the grand spectacle of the falling God of Secrecy, leaving Hill speechless, never before so grateful to be aligned with the friendly faction of the Undead Tribe.

Hill hadn’t expected that the fishing nets he once sold to the Undead Tribe would be played to such a new height.

Of course, those items of Hill could only be used to deal with Mage Level enemies at most, not deities.

But in the previous Gerns World, in the Red Moon Kingdom, which he thought yielded nothing for the Undead Tribe, they actually obtained the finest materials.

The web of Rose at the Demigod Level.

They were initially preparing to weave a web across the Gerns World to pull it into Rose’s infinite domain on the sixty-sixth level of the Bottomless Abyss, but then they unexpectedly encountered Shaer.

Rose certainly wouldn’t meet with Shaer; avoiding her was priority.

Many rules she wanted to conquer were somewhat related to Shaer, and who knew whether the Lady of the Night would deal with Rose first upon seeing her.

The giant spiders hastily retreating to the Bottomless Abyss left behind countless webs.

These webs, reputed to be able to bind even deities, were immune to fire, frost, and electric shock damages and could cause persistent injuries.

Of course, if in the Abyss, the webs would also create endless smoke clouds, driving those who entered with insufficient willpower directly into the Chaos of the Bottomless Abyss, from which escape was near impossible, not just for deities but even for demons themselves.

The webs in the outside world weren’t as powerful, but when the Undead Tribe pulled the strands together to weave a large net, it turned into a powerful one-time Divine Artifact.

Hill truly hadn’t expected the Undead Tribe to make use of the spider silk, and he highly admired the first person who thought of it, certainly, those who actually implemented it were incredibly strong.

To weave these spider silks into such a huge web, the Undead Tribe must have paid a hefty price. Even at the Legendary Rank, with much extended health bars, each individual could only stay on the edge of the web for 10 minutes. Staying any longer than 10 minutes meant certain death, as the continuous damage it inflicted was beyond any defense.

Even if the members of the ’Snow Cloud Peak’ Alliance were more obedient to commands, it would still not prevent casualties.

Distraction, however, is a glorious tradition of the Undead Tribe.

Most importantly, this web could only be used once. Once it had devoured flesh, it needed to be completely purified; otherwise, it would use that flesh to summon Demon Spiders.

The Undead Tribe was probably the only group aside from the followers of Rose capable of spinning such webs, their bodies composed not of flesh but of mere light upon death.

However, their decision to deploy such a formidable weapon against the God of Secrecy was something Hill totally understood.

The God of Secrecy, with his black cloak, skeleton-like face, and limbs that hardly resembled those of a human, was not only privy to many private secrets but also clearly favored a sneaky fighting style. Merely grazing him would cause him to hide in the air, and by the time he reappeared, the bit of health he’d lost would have mostly regenerated.

His common tactic was to hide himself and then switch locations to attack the Undead with the shortest health bar, causing great stress for the priests.

If it wasn’t for the fact that the deities of this world couldn’t leave their Grand Temples, the Undead Tribe would never have been able to catch this God of Secrecy.

The video Hill was watching must have been recorded by the Command Group; the throats of ’Snow Cloud Peak’ were screamed hoarse.

This was probably the time the priests got scolded the most, with Old Dog shouting passionately, having completely forgotten that most of those glaring at him from the other side were young ladies.

Many priests habitually prioritized the Defensive Knights over themselves when casting major spells, even though ’Snow Cloud Peak’ periodically shouted for priests to heal themselves first, many still forgot.

It was only after half an hour of scolding that ’Snow Cloud Peak’ finally realized whom he was scolding.

He had almost offended half the female population within the entire Alliance.

If it weren’t for his fox friend, anxious enough to shove his entire head into its gaping mouth, Mr. ’Snow Cloud Peak’ might have continued his fiery tirade for another hour.

When he finally calmed down, his face was nearly blue, possibly also because of the stench from the fox’s breath.

He circled the platform, surveyed the condition of the Priest Legion for a while, then announced a test of the spider web.

Hill could feel that they had more than just two or three webs in their hands; they likely had monopolized the spider silks from the Red Moon Kingdom.

When the God of Secrecy showed up again, he fell straight into the trap.

Since the Undead already knew he would target those with the shortest health bars, they certainly knew how to lure him in.

Timing his appearances perfectly, they just had to take out a spider web and stand in a corner, as merely pulling out the web would cause continuous health loss to those nearby.

When the God of Secrecy appeared, the health bars of that group were almost at one fifth.

But trapping this jumpy fellow directly into a spider web trap made those deaths highly worthwhile.

The moment he was caught, ’Snow Cloud Peak’ immediately started shouting and celebrating enthusiastically, heaping praise on those magnificent performers.

The person recording the video quietly remarked, ”Is this shifting the focus of the struggle?”

Hill couldn’t help but laugh, thankfully drowned out by the boisterous laughter of the Undead around him.

It seems the ending of ’Snow Cloud Peak’s command was delightful; the girls of the Undead Tribe certainly had a bone to pick with him.

The God of Secrecy was merely a False God; had he not been able to hide and regenerate, he would have been captured and killed by the Undead long ago.

After being caught in the web, perhaps as a venting of spite or maybe as a tactical distraction by a commander, they ultimately stabbed the God of Secrecy to death with ordinary attacks that did not involve any skills.

The deity, now merged with the laws, wore a face revealing a sense of ’finally, it’s over’ as he fell.

The Undead probably found it amusing, but Hill completely understood why the God of Travel fought so desperately afterward.

Even other deities, when facing the Undead, did so with all their might.

Watching this, Hill only felt a tingling in his scalp. Although he understood, for the Undead, it was just a game to pass the time, fun and interesting was their only pursuit.

But having become a human of the Fantasy World, Hill once again appreciated why players were regarded as The Fourth Calamity.

It has nothing to do with their inherent goodness or evilness.

Even when Hill warned the Undead that this would provoke the furious resistance of all deities in this world, the Undead were not fearful; in fact, they were even more excited, regardless of being attacked by several gods at once.

To the Undead, this world was extremely entertaining; they even jokingly referred to Felunryel as a ’flying checkerboard’ on their forums.
