Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 643: Chapter 441: Back to Star Gate, William’s Little Trouble

Hill was fully aware that the beastmen planned to wait until the numbers of magical beasts could form a sweeping disaster across the continent before they took action. They hadn’t expected the existence of the peculiar God of Nobility among humans.

In the Ferun Great Land, even within the chaotic God System, matters that might incite racial wars were approached with caution, acted upon only with concrete evidence.

Not many deities would, merely on an uneasy feeling, directly sabotage their former allies.

For their own benefit, they were relatively more credible.

But the God of Nobility in Teraxil, likely a classic example of once bitten, twice shy, would jump at every stir of the breeze.

Hill sighed gently, retrieved his plan, and crossed out the strategy to completely destroy the connection between the Divine Kingdom of the God of Nobility and the Goddess of Love through exploiting the former’s weaknesses.

What a pity, the fulcrum he had taken so long to find!

List had already used puppets to pack everything intended to be taken, leaving only Hill’s window, the array in the camp, and the obsidian floor.

These tasks Hill had to complete himself.

Upon receiving the notice, Hill glanced at the crowd still discussing below and released a small spaceship to float outside the Magic Tower.

After asking Marsha to notify Alice to bring her life golems on board first, Hill then secured Marsha’s core casket inside a pendant.

Then he descended to the lower level himself, collected List’s core, and left only a basic low-level Tower Spirit in charge of operating the Magic Tower.

Actually, he had wanted to leave a Mid-level Tower Spirit, but the Hogan Family hadn’t been favorable enough towards him.

Hill was never generous towards those he disliked.

Hill glanced at the Crystal Stones remaining in the core area and found that List had already secured all the high-level crystals, leaving only the most basic kind. He estimated that if Mage Hogan was careful, this Magic Tower could also continue to operate for several decades.

This situation matched when the original array completely failed, and the Magic Tower became exposed.

It seems List also disliked the Hogan Family; otherwise, he wouldn’t have collected even the partially used high-level crystals.

Hill finished the last bit of business amidst the screams of the group who had just noticed the ground suddenly lacked three feet, and flew back to the ship.

He still brought along the noisy undead who were following him, assuming they might want to enjoy a sightseeing trip on the way back.

However, these few seemed to have little interest in the people of Ferun, just wanting to comfortably accompany Hill on the ship.

After inquiring, Hill discovered that William had already issued a rendezvous order.

Another month and the Star Gate would open. If anyone did not follow the main group to leave this world now, they would have to wait another three months.

The Undead Tribe had no intention of forgoing the journey to a new world.

They somewhat treated Felunryel as a preview to entering Ferun, disdaining how chaotic this world was.

Most people planned to wait for those among the plot afficionados to produce a simple guide rather than remembering which deity was responsible for what themselves.

Mainly because the divinities of Ferun were numerous and quite similar, they found it somewhat complicated to differentiate them.

With a smile on his face, Hill listened to the undead discussing the complex relationships between the Ferun deities as the white sailboat steered directly towards the Star Gate.

The people of Ferun seemed already accustomed to rebuilding upon ruins.

Hill traveled southward, witnessing many ordinary people reconstructing their homes under the command of various priests and knights.

Indeed, the Red Dragon’s earthquake had almost demolished the structures of this world.

The only good fortune was that the physical capabilities of this world’s population were generally strong and the buildings not very tall, so there were many injuries but the stench of death was not overwhelming.

Hill discovered an interesting fact; the people of Ferun maintained a unified front with all the visiting deities.

In every reconstructed city, subordinates of basically all deities would be present, even the followers of the two Goddesses of Love and Beauty insisted on having at least one believer in every city.

Hill couldn’t help but smile; this world was indeed very suitable for evangelism.

After all, the various races of Felunryel were long accustomed to worshipping deities. Even if not devout, they were able to offer a generalized faith.

The deities above might not be in a rush, but their believers, faced with competitors, would surely strive hard; nobody wanted to embarrass their Main God under the watchful eyes of All Gods.

The massive Star Gate soon appeared before Hill.

Only then did he understand why the Undead immediately came into conflict with the deities of this world.

The Undead would detour, likely because they were called by the Star Gate.

And to reach the Star Gate, passing through the Spring Country was the quickest route.

Though affluent, this country was not large, resembling a grand canyon.

Hill also learned from the Undead why the Spring Country of the so-called ’Foolish Goddess’ was fraught with danger yet inhabited by many; this despised goddess, though weak, ensured never-ending spring within her domain and fragrant flowers and fruits.

It was a place where plant growth rules had already been broken. Although one might get kidnapped and eaten by an Evil God, one would never starve to death.

Moreover, ordinary people could not escape either, as the surroundings of this country had already been occupied by those Evil Gods.

Even when the population of the Spring Country had fallen below the danger line, the subordinates of those Evil Gods would still buy slaves and throw them in.

Despite so much time having passed, the Undead Tribe still harbored grudges, not only towards those man-eating Evil Gods but also towards the Goddess of Spring who, knowing full well that the Evil Gods wanted to use her powers to turn humans into food, feigned ignorance and complied.

They could not understand how such a being could become a deity, even a False God should require faith to achieve that status, shouldn’t she?

Hill smiled helplessly, as long as it wasn’t themselves being eaten, there would always be someone willing to offer faith to this goddess to avoid starvation.

The spaceship landed steadily in the center of the camp square.

William had already opened all the Defensive Magic Arrays to Hill.

The Undead Tribe joyfully leaped off the spaceship to meet their friends.

But Alice and Merkel stayed in their room and did not come out.

Thinking it over, Hill decided to retrieve Marsha’s core box from his room to let the Tower Spirit, who was more familiar with Alice, take charge.

Alice seemed not to want the Undead Tribe to know she had become human and kept avoiding those few people.

As for Merkel, remembering the leopard skin that had already been treated, Hill knew he would not be coming out anytime soon.

Hill’s sword was not so easy to endure; without ten days or half a month, the patch of flesh carved from the back would not heal.

Now that leopard could only be wrapped in bandages, unable to move at all.

”Mr. Hill! Long time no see,” Spencer was already smiling below Hill’s ship.

Hill flew down directly, ”Hello, Mr. Spencer. Long time no see, how have you been recently?”

”Getting by,” a trace of bitterness showed on Spencer’s face.

It was too obvious, Hill could not help but glance at this pretentious knight, ”Is there something wrong?”

This kind of noble communication strategy, how could Spencer apply it to him?

”His Majesty the King has a bit of trouble,” Spencer put away that facade and said with a bitter smile, ”But I don’t know what stance Mr. Hill will take, I can only try to probe a little.

Although His Majesty only feels that Miss Alice hasn’t encountered any danger, it’s indeed excessive not to say anything to Mr. Hill.”

It seemed Spencer already knew what had happened, but from his attitude, William’s involvement was at most failure to report or helping the God of Nobility reach into the Royal City of the Magical Beasts.

And William must have shown some regret; as Spencer said, he felt that he should at least apologize to Hill afterward, it wasn’t a matter merely settled by William having protected Alice.

If they were merely allies, that would have sufficed, but he and Hill had always enjoyed a pleasant relationship, it shouldn’t be handled so abruptly.

However, what Hill found unusual was, if William really thought so, he wouldn’t have delegated the responsibility to Spencer; he would have talked to Hill himself.

”How serious is His Majesty the King’s trouble?” Hill asked quietly.

Seeing that Hill had fully grasped his implication, Spencer smiled relievedly, ”This world has brought significant gains to His Majesty the King, but also great expenses.

We need to return to Teraxil to recuperate for a while.

The rest of the world, the Undead Tribe is already very familiar with the process, only the avatars of the core Divine Artifact need to follow.”

Hill nodded, not continuing the topic, ”Does His Majesty the King have some free time now?”

He needed to make sure if the trouble William was facing was so severe that he couldn’t even show his face.

”Mr. Hill has returned, no matter how busy His Majesty is, he will find time to meet,” Spencer smiled politely, ”Recently, there have been many visitors from the Toril World, and His Majesty the King has been busy receiving them.”

Hill glanced at a tall knight passing by; the Scales emblem on the Warhammer on his armor was shining brightly.

He regarded Hill, who was being greeted by Spencer, with curiosity and nodded very politely.

A Holy Knight of Tyr?

Hill curiously regarded Spencer, now bearing a noble demeanor.

”Justice and judgment,” Spencer unchangingly said, ”have much in common with fairness and rectitude, yet are also profoundly contradictory.

Ever since knowing the justice His Majesty the King advocates, these individuals who see themselves as judges have been persistently seeking discussions with His Majesty.

Thankfully, there are many Divine Envoys coming here, which keeps His Majesty too busy to entertain them.

Otherwise, His Majesty the King would probably sneak away, as he currently has little interest in debating with them.”

Hill almost laughed out loud; even a deity just needs to stick to their divinity, it’s unlikely they would personally delve into studying doctrines and principles.

Following Spencer’s lead, Hill entered a pristine small palace where William was waiting inside for him.
