Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 613: Chapter 411 Ambush! Another ambush!

Hill knew that if he were really backed into a corner, there were many things he would still do, understanding that you sing according to the local custom.

He might as well think of himself as someone studying medicine. What’s wrong with scientific experiments!

But since he wasn’t specialized in that field, Hill didn’t force himself to change his slightly obsessive-compulsive habits.

He believed in his own strength and knew that even if he gave up that line of research, he wouldn’t lag behind others.

Hill was never someone who demanded perfection from himself. He tolerated and liked his flaws, even if some might think him somewhat hypocritical.

Not troubling himself was his life philosophy. Being able to live such a life made him feel very fortunate, as his long life allowed Hill to slow down his pace.

Of course, if fate decreed it, he wouldn’t struggle too much against it.

His absence of self-trouble was predicated on the assumption that his life was passable.

Hill didn’t dwell on it any longer, as he had observed the outside world all day long.

Even after the Goddess of Winter couldn’t return, he had changed the weather back to heavy snowfall.

Heavy snow indeed concealed all traces, but Hill only cared about the moment those traces appeared; the Tower Spirit would not find it troublesome to keep a constant watch over the outside.

List, even while pouring him tea, could observe every direction of the Magic Tower.

Hill had no intention of leaving the Magic Tower. In this world, there was more than one deity specialized in assassination or stealth.

However, this Hunter was clearly designed after a prototype; typically, that was synonymous with being useless, so it was thrown out to test the waters.

Of course, even the weakest deity was beyond mortal comprehension, and if it were the God of Hunting here, Hill would have to be very cautious.

But it wasn’t too dangerous.

Among the four gods of Berserkers, the only one Hill needed to watch out for was Los. As long as Hill didn’t kill him directly, letting that true god of fury seek a comeback would suffice.

No matter how complex the relationships displayed by these deities, no matter how much they schemed against each other, Hill wouldn’t believe that the multitude of gods wasn’t unified.

All of their actions, from beginning to end, were filled with the will of one being—the mastermind who had concocted this world from behind the scenes.

The current struggle was only because the one behind the scenes willed it to be so. Once he wanted them to cooperate, they might suddenly find each other not so detestable.

However, that entity was currently being watched by the deities from the outside and didn’t dare to act openly.

As soon as he used the World Rules to carry out such a disruptive action, he would surely be caught by that exposed thread.

But Hill was somewhat doubtful about who really wanted the Divine Artifact ring.

If that one simply arranged for a few deities associated with the Shadow Series to come here, Hill might be in trouble; his skull was hard, but that didn’t mean he had to be stubborn.

Hill knew when he felt he was in danger, he had to trust his intuition.

So, Hill firmly awaited reinforcements from the Undead Tribe.

He didn’t wait long, but it took more than seven days.

It seemed the Goddess of Winter hadn’t lied to him—the gods of this world had banded together to attack the Undead Tribe.

When Hill deactivated the Defensive Magic Array, allowing hundreds of thousands of the Undead Tribe to charge directly to the vicinity of the Magic Tower, he couldn’t help but frown; it was the sensation of a looming danger finally being lifted.

List appeared beside him, ”There are three presences spying in secret. The Undead Tribe came directly across the snowfield; there are obvious signs of evasion in three places.

But I haven’t detected any high-level beings there recently.”

With Anbur’s corpse present, quite a few Magical Beasts from around Hill’s Domain had quietly visited. Once they realized that the master of the Magic Tower didn’t mind, they quickly snatched some of the flesh and left.

Hill had instructed List to notify him only if any Magical Beast suddenly ascended to Demigod status, so during this period, List had been tracking and monitoring the nearby Magical Beasts.

In the past, List confined his exploration efforts within the domain’s borders to reduce trouble. But with the Goddess of Winter still underground, searching for a way back to the surface, there shouldn’t be anyone else coming to point fingers at the expansion of the Magic Tower.

List welcomed the Undead Tribe who had come from afar. He floated in the air, solemnly thanking the Undead Tribe for their arrival.

Holding Alice in his arms, Hill stood by the second-floor crystal window and gave a gentle bow.

The Undead Tribe erupted in excitement.

Many who had come here had participated in the initial battle to establish the Undead Tribe’s city. Holding the white cat, Hill had been the best impression for many when they first entered the game.

So much time had passed, and they had left Teraxil to embark on new expansions of the lore. Although they already knew Hill was present, they never thought they would see this scene again.

Hill, clad in a Mage Robe and holding a lovely white cat.

He had matured a lot, but the golden hair that draped over his shoulders and the round green eyes were still so familiar.

Hill also remembered, and he opened a window, holding Alice in one arm just like before, he leaned out and waved down below.

The Undead Tribe cheered happily, and the high-pitched voice of a girl floated up: ”Look! The beautiful boy holding a cat!”

Hill frowned slightly, as the Ring of Winter instantly summoned an Ice Wall, and his small fan quickly unfolded to shield him.

A long arrow shot explosively from afar, shattering the Ice Wall in an instant, heading straight for Hill’s head, but was blocked by his Crystal Fan.

Hill sighed in relief and helplessly gestured to the Undead Tribe below, then closed the window—the outside world was indeed dangerous!

He had clearly felt that there was no longer any danger nearby.

Unexpectedly, there were still long arrows being shot from such a distant place, how much hatred must someone have for him!

Hill was somewhat baffled; shouldn’t that strength be directed at William instead?

”Ah! The Undead have gone mad,” said Alice, who Hill was holding, as she poked her little head out, ”It should be safe, actually. Can I follow you down to have a look?”

The reenactment of the scene interrupted by the Undead, they were nearly exploding with rage now, as a large number of Mages charged into the sky, rushing towards the direction from which the arrow came.

Hill had thought that they would not be able to find the source, but then he spotted some Space-Time Warlocks using their deathly move—random teleportation.

This was a skill exclusive to Legendary Level Space-Time Warlocks, but generally, nobody used it.

Unless they wanted to test just how unlucky their life could get.

Hill suspected that William had insisted on granting this skill, the God of Time and Space probably didn’t want to, but couldn’t argue with William who often adventured outside.

But he probably didn’t want to watch every stupid thing the Undead did every day, so he set the probability of random teleportation to beside the strongest Red Named Boss in the vicinity.

However, Hill thought the God of Time and Space had been tricked by William; the Undead must love the ability of this skill.

Normally, if they don’t need to walk, they don’t, and what could win people’s hearts more than teleporting straight to a Boss when they want to find one!

Especially the Space-Time Warlocks, who are mostly part of large families, with few operating solo.

Like now, when they needed to find the strongest nearby enemy, such teleportation was really powerful. Hill could already hear someone cheering, ”We caught one! Hurry up! All the Clan Leaders, join the Ink Brush group, mark it on the map!”

Hill patted Alice’s little head, ”Stop dreaming. The guy behind this is definitely an Evil God. Unless you want to be turned into a cat meat hot pot, you better behave.”

Alice meowed dejectedly, her paws clutching the Mithril Sphere, as she listlessly pressed her head against Hill’s shoulder: ”I hate these sneaky bastards the most! My Qiuqiu really wants to smash his head, meow~”

Hill ignored the little white cat’s whining and simply brushed her fur.

He would never let Alice out of the Magic Tower, for the Undead only caught one among them, but List had observed at least three enemies eyeing them eagerly.

He was well aware, to have these deities target Hill was simple, just plant the desire for Divine Artifacts in their hearts.

Given the level of Alchemy in this world, even the weapons in the hands of these deities couldn’t compare to a few of Hill’s Demi-God Artifacts.

Yet, with the Undead so bold as to come directly toward him, Hill wondered how many more daring deities were left outside.

Those deities who had banded together to intercept them were certainly gone or on the way to being gone.

Hill’s domain might have only welcomed a few hundred thousand Undead, but within them, at least two hundred thousand were of Legendary Level.

The reason they chose to come to this world’s northernmost part to save Hill wasn’t just because of William’s mission and their fondness for Hill.

Hill would never place his importance above the experiences of the Undead.

Even with a hundred times more confidence, he would never become that conceited; it could only mean that most of the big Bosses were gone, and the rewards here at Hill’s location were about the same as elsewhere.

If it was just a slight difference from the experience with the large team, Hill believed that some of the Undead would still choose to come save him.

Hill placed Alice on the large sofa at the top floor, and he stood in front of the window. He was eager to know who was so ruthless, who couldn’t leave without lingering outside so determinedly.

Although the force of that arrow wasn’t enough to break through Hill’s defenses, the strange glow flickering on its tip was clearly a potent poison.

List had already sealed away the long arrow, and even though Hill was curious to study what kind of poison it was, List promptly stopped him.

He felt that Hill shouldn’t risk his life just because as a Nature Warlock, it was difficult for him to be poisoned; the Alchemy Laboratory of the Magic Tower was not that well-equipped. If Hill really wanted to know what the poison was, it would be better to study it slowly after getting back home.

Hill would not just head home like that; he always had a feeling that once he went back, it would be difficult to come out again.

Though he didn’t know why, Hill decided that he definitely wanted to play... travel enough before returning.

Not all of the Undead rushed towards the incident; the Defensive Knights and Paladins basically all stayed behind, and there were also some Priests who did not leave.

They formed around Hill’s Magic Tower, standing in a very orderly defensive formation.
