Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 621: Chapter 419: Nothing Happens Without a Reason

”Your Majesty, that’s a bit much!”

Spencer could only intervene to stop his bored king from passing the time with the panther.

The black panther in the cage instantly lost all its strength and collapsed with a whimper.

”Hey now~” William shrugged helplessly. ”If you can’t endure this, what will you do in front of Hill?

That guy is full of suppressed rage!

To be honest, Hill is really a good kid. Even though he looked like a suppressed volcano during that time, he didn’t erupt on any outsiders!

But that’s not good news for you.

Anger, when not expressed at the time, becomes more terrifying the longer it’s suppressed.

Why were you so stupid?

How could you lose such an adorable wife like Alice?”

Merkel ignored him, merely turning his direction to point his rear at William.

William realized the panther would definitely not pay him any more attention, so he shrugged and slumped on the throne. ”That guy Coron! I never intended to offend the Three Gods of Death!

What does the matter in Ferun have to do with me?”

”The Undead Tribe has been discussing recently that the endpoint of this multi-world travel might be the Toril Universe where Ferun Great Land is located. Otherwise, we wouldn’t enter a world that disseminates so much knowledge about the deities.” Spencer took out a flask and poured a cup of wine for the extremely dissatisfied William. ”What does Your Majesty think?”

”How could that be? Unless I’m stronger than Coron, why would I go to that world to ask for trouble?” William said decisively. ”Besides, I plan to achieve godhood with justice and fairness, and the deities of justice in Ferun would definitely have some conflicts with me.

Even the orderly good deities wouldn’t think my presence is a good thing.”

”But what if all they want is just the Undead Tribe?” Spencer asked calmly.

”The World Will of Teraxil permits the Undead Tribe to these small worlds because they will eventually return, albeit after a delay in reclaiming that elemental energy.

But to Toril, coming back is a pipe dream~

The will of the World Tree wouldn’t allow that.” William took a sip of wine. ”Damn it, I can’t even leave the wine out in the open. Why am I so miserable?”

”Didn’t the Father of Elves replenish all the elemental depletion?” Spencer asked, puzzled.

William couldn’t help but chuckle strangely. ”That’s the cost! Dear cousin, who sells things at cost price!”

After thinking for a while, Spencer realized that the elemental bodies the Undead Tribe discards upon returning to Teraxil would be the compensation Teraxil receives.

But if these elemental bodies reach the Toril World, they would never return, and Teraxil wouldn’t agree.

As deities originating from Teraxil, neither the God of Time and Space nor William would go against their own world.

”What if Coron paid a high enough price?” Spencer asked, unable to resist.

”Money makes the Devil turn the mill.” William downed his glass of wine in one gulp. ”Damn it, tell the Undead Tribe that the bounty for the poison-type false god has increased!”

”With money, the Devil would not just turn the mill, but even become the ground wheat.” Spencer couldn’t help but retort.

William paused for a moment before bursting into laughter. Although they weren’t talking about the same thing, there was no contradiction at all!

The suspended black panther couldn’t help but twitch its ears. It seemed that the Undead Tribe would travel through more than one world?

Would Hill follow as well?

He resisted the urge to sigh, unwilling to give the lonely human king below the chance to mock him.

Returning to Teraxil, he could show Alice the corpses of those fools. Although Alice might not like such a cruel scene, Merkel believed that Alice would at least soften up a bit after seeing that he had completely lost the divinity of the King of Magical Beasts.

He never thought that a moment of neglect would lead to such a result.

Maybe he was indeed too foolish, puffed up by endless flattery, believing that all magical beasts had already bowed to him.

But Merkel really didn’t expect it. He had always shown such importance to Alice!

Those magical beasts, especially the leopards that had followed him for so long, a portion even coming from Hill Valley! Why did they think he would give up on Alice just to become a god?

After killing the magical beasts that had followed him in battles, he indeed lost the loyalty and worship of most magical beasts, becoming merely a demigod incapable of condensing divinity.

But so what?

He had always placed his ambition alongside Alice!

When Alice was initially displeased because of Agleya’s appearance, he vowed to give Alice the qualification to compete with Agleya in the starry sky, and those magical beasts had been present!

Merkel never thought that magical beasts were so short-sighted and greedy, seeing only the immediate benefit and not considering whether they even had the qualification to seize it!

What right did he have to look down on humans?

If it were humans, even if they were envious of Alice’s position, they wouldn’t act so foolishly and would at least observe the King’s attitude towards the Queen before causing trouble.

But the magical beasts? They just naturally assumed that as long as Alice left, her place would be taken by a stronger, more beautiful beast.

They never considered whether their king was willing!

They truly still acted with the mind of wild beasts, brains completely fed to the dogs.

A moment of arrogance cost him his lover. His strength was merely an illusion, the magical beasts had not truly submitted to him. He had never understood why the White Wolf King ruled the magical beasts with such a brutal approach, but now he finally did.

For these magical beasts who only submitted to strength, Merkel’s demeanor was too gentle, lacking sufficient deterrence.

But the root cause was his being carried away by flattery. Otherwise, how could he have left Alice alone outside!

What Monster Nation? Alice was far more important to him!

Followers gathered around him because of his strength were of no consequence if lost!

Merkel rested his head on his left front paw, silently whimpering.

He never laid on his right paw because that was Alice’s favorite spot to lean on.

Merkel paid no attention to the human king below, who had opened the isolation array of the cage. When that guy spoke of serious matters, he never allowed him to listen.

If it were before, Merkel would have been very concerned about the humans’ actions, but at that moment, he couldn’t care less about the misfortune his magical beasts might face in hundreds or thousands of years.

”Is he crying?” Spencer couldn’t help but ask when he saw William resealing the cage.

Although the black panther’s cries were silent, the sadness was still detected by the emotionally sensitive guardian knight.

”He deserves it.” William smiled. ”Merkel is a panther very familiar with humans, having learned much in Hill Valley, which made establishing his nation so easy.

But he overrated the intelligence of the magical beasts.

Why do you think he thought it was fine to leave Alice unattended?

If it were human nobles, when they saw Alice, they would definitely not see her as merely a cat, but rather the terrifying power standing behind her.

But those magical beasts only saw a small white cat with healing power and no offensive capability.

Magical beasts only look at the immediate. Merkel wanted them to see hundreds of years into the future, how impossible is that!

Most magical beasts have no memory for past lessons.

Besides, they could at least see the benefits of Merkel ascending to divinity in a few years.

Unfortunately, they forgot that Earth System magical beasts would remain under the Goddess of the Earth even if they became the Beast King.

This is also because the Earth Deity System has just revived and doesn’t yet have enough influence on the earth. Otherwise, even in a hundred years, no magical beast would be so foolish.

As for Agleya, with so many deities around, how could the Sea God flood the continent!”

”Weren’t the magical beasts in Hill Valley quite smart?” Spencer asked slowly.

”A place that can turn rabbits into magical beasts...” William sighed quietly. ”Perhaps only Hill’s territory in all of Teraxil; even the Earth Bear’s domain couldn’t compare.

Haven’t you noticed? The magical beasts contracted with the Undead Tribe, none from Hill Valley, have annulled the contracts. Only those from outside are unwilling to follow the Undead Tribe to other worlds for adventures.

If they are communal magical beasts with a common leader, no matter where they came from, they didn’t leave. Their leaders all originated from Hill Valley.”

Spencer glanced outside. Indeed, the Undead Tribe’s giant elephants, buffaloes, and even the Wild Boar Legion were still intact.

He couldn’t help but glance at the panther again. Was it because he had long been in contact with those smart magical beasts from Hill Valley that he thought his subordinates were of similar caliber?

”Didn’t he also have many subordinates from Hill Valley?” Spencer suddenly remembered.

”Leopards are animals with heavy suspicion.” William said coldly. ”They only trust their kind, so they didn’t think losing Alice would cause Merkel much pain.

In their eyes, aren’t female panthers beautiful? Why would he insist on a cat!”

Spencer couldn’t quite understand it, but he knew that William actually cared about this matter.

”Now, magical beasts probably won’t become enemies of humanity for at least a thousand years.” William said softly, revealing a smile.

Spencer paused for a moment. From William’s words, he sensed something. Did William think that if the Monster Nation were under Merkel’s rule, it would become a threat to humanity within a thousand years, perhaps just a few centuries?

”Your Majesty?” He hesitantly asked.

”It’s nothing to do with me.” William shook his head. ”My divinity limits many things I can do, but you must know, the God of Nobility and his woman have a lot of free time!”

Understanding what William implied, Spencer couldn’t help but gasp.
