Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 628: Chapter 426 Identical Eyes

Hill couldn’t be bothered with the pretentious Marsha; among his Tower Spirits, she was the one most deeply influenced by the Undead Tribe.

Srei was more indifferent and never chatted idly with the Undead.

Many female mages in Marsha’s Lord’s Mansion, however, were quite chatty, and even work couldn’t stop their mouths.

Or rather, chatting while doing handiwork was the only way they could stick it out there for two hours.

So Marsha was indeed very proficient with women’s needs, but her ability to put on airs had also increased significantly.

Hill then pulled out two unused life golems, modified their intelligence cores to have a female consciousness, and only then did he awaken them and hand them over to Marsha to manage.

Although he didn’t know much about this area, these golems were originally designed to do housework, so most of the knowledge was transferable. Hill merely set a female voice and consciousness, leaving the rest to Marsha to train.

The golems he made weren’t as strong as Fran’s, but they did have a bit of intelligence and could learn new knowledge on their own.

Hill glanced at the expressive Marsha and asked her to take the golems to find Alice.

Marsha, who received the task, finally became serious. She floated in the air and materialized a small notebook, writing a list in it with great ceremony, ”Sir, do you have suitable clothes? A long dress isn’t necessary. I don’t think Miss Alice is suitable for dresses just now.”

”How about mage robes?” Hill asked expressionlessly, ”I have many that I haven’t worn.”

”They need to be especially lightweight, preferably with long pants. Miss Alice might not be used to bare legs. Also, sir’s preferences are mostly in black and white, aren’t they?

Any other colors?” Marsha continued.

Hill furrowed his brow, ”I also have green and blue clothes!”

”Dark green? Blue-black?” Marsha muttered, ”Colors liked by people with no sense of aesthetics.”

”Marsha! Don’t make trouble.

Do you think I’m inconsiderate?

Sir might not wear them, but of course, I would make clothes from various fabrics.

There are some light blue and pale purple robes in the wardrobe, along with white ones; they should suffice for now.

The rest is, of course, your responsibility. Otherwise, why did I awaken you, for practice in lip service?

I’ll find them now.” List floated directly into Hill’s bedroom, having already summoned the particularly intelligent life golem.

Marsha gave a sheepish smile to List. Having been under his supervision since her birth, she was rather afraid of this head of the Tower Spirits.

”Doesn’t the Magic Tower need a space set up for Miss Alice now?” Marsha thought for a moment and then asked, ”I think we could start by putting those books away. Most of them, sir, have already been read, right?

Since we won’t be staying in this world for long, there’s no need for a library level.”

Hill could only nod. After List handed over the clothes to Marsha, he directed ordinary golems to start packing up the books.

”Sir, let’s place the previous Tower Master’s books all on the third floor. The Great Library there can be replaced with special bookshelves, preventing damage to the books.

I’ll also reorganize most areas of the Magic Tower. Marsha is right; we’re likely to leave soon, no?” List thoughtfully said.

After all, he also knew that Hill always felt that the original Mage Santos still had a slim chance of being alive, and he had decided not to take Santos’ belongings when leaving Felunryel.

Moreover, even if this mage was no longer in the world, who could say? Perhaps decades later, a descendant of Santos might come looking for this tower!

He had read some of Santos’ notes in his magical books and had a feeling the mage had left behind a secret lineage outside.

Just after his illegitimate brother suddenly became in charge of the Northern Diocese.

As a fellow noble, Hill could well understand such a fallback plan.

Hill modified most of the magic arrays, leaving only the bloodline sensing array intact.

When Hill planned to leave, he only intended to take down those floor-to-ceiling windows and then seal the Magic Tower completely with obsidian.

The neighboring farm and various auxiliary buildings would also be preserved with magic arrays, leaving enough crystal stones to last over a hundred years.

He would then place Mage Santos’ belongings back, although some items had already been destroyed by Hill, the Magic Tower capable of operating for five hundred years was compensation enough for any losses.

Hill nodded and watched List hurriedly get to work before he sank back into the sofa with a long sigh. ”What a mess this is!”

How would he introduce Alice in the future? Hello everyone, this is my eldest daughter Alice. She didn’t want to continue being a cat, so she transformed into a human!

Hill thought many people would assume he had some peculiar fetish and had used a permanent transformation spell on a cat for no reason.

Moreover, Hill mused with a headache, in the future, Alice would probably be unwilling to stay in the pendant when things came up.

Marsha ignored her nearly collapsing master and took the golems to knock on the bathroom door, ”Miss Alice, it’s Marsha. I’m coming in~”

She entered with the golems, and the bathroom door was tightly shut again.

Hill half-lay on his sofa, his mind completely vacant, not wanting to listen to the various sounds coming from the other side.

Marsha probably had to start teaching from the most basic hygiene practices. Although Alice knew what was going on, many things couldn’t be done without prior experience.

Hill sighed. He truly couldn’t understand why there would be a Spirit of Nature that wanted to become human.

He had always thought that only by becoming deities first, could Alice then possess a human form, and at that point, the Law would guide her on what to do.

Could it be that Alice was too eager to become Hill’s true daughter?

Although he hadn’t seen her form yet, her long golden hair was all too familiar to Hill.

He reached out and cradled his waist-length hair to his chest, examining it closely.

Surrounded by nature, each strand of his hair glimmered with golden light and was completely uncuttable, as if each hair had a shield around it.

Hill had always worried that this was due to the Earth Bear’s legacy, but now he thought it might be the force of nature.

Hair always represented growth.

If Alice just wanted to shift into a human form, her hair should have turned white.

Only by her deeply desiring golden hair as the most beautiful would she transform into her current appearance.

Hill helplessly covered his forehead with a hand, a sense of bleak future overwhelming him. He was still a single dog!

Light footsteps echoed, and Hill quickly sat up and looked toward the bedroom door.

”Miss Alice, step out with your left foot. Yes, the side I’m standing is the left. Now, the right foot. Very good.

Walk as you usually do. A catwalk is a very elegant step, you know~”

A figure in an oversized white mage robe slowly emerged from the door.

It was an extremely cute girl. Her round, small face had a pair of cat-like green eyes, golden long lashes that curled and were thick, her skin white and flawless, with dimples appearing when she smiled at Hill.

She looked like a sweet young girl, about the same age as Agleya now.

At least Hill couldn’t tell the difference.

”Hill~” Alice called out cheerfully, ”Marsha said I look a lot like you~”

Hill almost reached to touch his pointed chin but restrained himself under Marsha’s warning gaze behind Alice.

”Yes, Alice has a pair of green eyes just like mine. Even the contours are the same.” Hill responded with a smile.

Alice joyfully quickened her pace. Although Marsha praised her for walking in a catwalk, it was more like a duck’s waddle.

Hill had to avert his gaze; he mustn’t laugh.

Alice needed encouragement now.

”Sir, you and Miss Alice have a nice chat. I’ll go help List tidy up the rooms downstairs.” Marsha said, taking the golems and leaving briskly.

She left the two of them alone.

”Hill, it turns out a Spirit of Nature can transform into human form too!” Alice paid no attention to the little things. She just passionately wanted to share her feelings with Hill, ”When I discovered I could choose a human form, I was really shocked, but nature told me that all Spirits of Nature can do this~

But most Spirits of Nature don’t know how to transform themselves; they change unconsciously with their instincts.

We usually change into the animal form that left the greatest impression on us during our birth, of course, it has to be a non-violent creature.

It’s odd that I turned into a cat. I can’t recall why, but back then, the deepest memory in my mind was a lazy white cat.

Typically, we would choose creatures from the forest because only in a forest with strong spirituality could a Spirit of Nature be born!

Unless you’re unlucky like me, most Spirits of Nature wouldn’t change their form. They stay as they are from birth~

Also, transforming into a human form requires a significant amount of power to support such a complex body.

Most Spirits of Nature who reach the Legendary or Demigod level feel content with their lives and wouldn’t dream of changing their form.

Otherwise, there wouldn’t be someone like me now~

I’m so happy~”

Alice was a bit overly excited, her words becoming jumbled.

Hill managed to discern her meaning from her enthusiastic but chaotic explanations.

Determination to change combined with immense strength was key to a Spirit of Nature transforming into a human form, but in reality, most Spirits of Nature didn’t find human appearance desirable.

Only Alice, raised by Hill, would transform into a human form out of a desire to be Hill’s true daughter.

Hill watched tenderly as Alice gestured and spoke animatedly, suddenly recalling long ago when Adrian joked that he and Alice had the same eyes.

Back then, Adrian had been teasing him, saying his bear eyes looked like cat eyes.

Yet now, he and Alice had identical eyes.
