Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 615: Chapter 413 Hill Gets a Bounty On His Head

Hill understood why the world used to dislike the Three Gods of Justice so much—where everything is either black or white, blackness breeds hatred, but stubborn whiteness isn’t necessarily lovable either.

Humans have their biases, and while the Three Gods of Justice can demand their followers abide by their own doctrines, they can’t hold others to such high standards.

In a world where everyone is supposedly noble, even their own Church can’t achieve it, yet these three Temples expect complete outsiders, who don’t even believe in them, to act accordingly.

Of course, the deities and followers of the Evil Faction would hate them even more, with most of the rumors disparaging the three originating from their mouths.

Even devils can hardly control the urge to spread scandals about them.

But the Trio of Justice, despite their extreme doctrine, actually fulfilled their divine duties. Whether they were outmatched in battle was a different story.

At least they would give it their all; should they fail, then that was another matter.

Hill, while keeping a respectful distance from such beings, wouldn’t believe those idle rumors either.

Most deities of the Kind Alignment, even if they disliked the trio’s methods, wouldn’t be so displeased as to actually confront them.

The Neutral Faction wouldn’t go that far either; at most, they would add fuel to the fire without igniting it.

So, in this world, as soon as the three awkward Main Gods appeared, anyone with clear sight knew this was the work of an Evil Faction.

The Evil Faction had many such deities capable of orchestrating such events—some Evil Gods of various worlds might have even been replaced by devils, and the Grand Dukes from Hell loved to play such tricks.

However, the greatest strength of the Three Gods of Justice lies in their incessant war against their enemies. Unless completely disabled, even if they couldn’t defeat their foes in the short term, they would seize every opportunity for revenge.

Don’t be fooled by God of Justice and Judgment, Tyr’s, apparent disabilities; one must consider what kind of beings have been able to harm him.

Hill sincerely hoped that the mastermind behind the scenes would soon be exposed. Playing with puppet dolls was indeed entertaining, but unfortunately, it violated portrait rights. The Three Gods of Justice, who liked to reason, would pursue the matter until the end, demanding the wrongdoer’s life as compensation.

Who knows, it might lead to a surprising major event—seeing the Three Gods of Justice and the Destroyer join forces to deal with the same adversary would undoubtedly shock many.

Hill listened with schadenfreude to List’s summary, ”The battle at the Star Gate isn’t over yet. Although the Three Gods have been defeated once, the main forces of the Undead Tribe are still entangled and can’t break free.

As the Main Gods of the humans in this world, they can summon many helpers. Most of these deities are from the Kind and Neutral Alignments; although not from the same god system, they all seem to follow the Gods of Justice.

The Goddess of Gold Coins claims eternal neutrality but hasn’t made a move. She just asks her followers to throw money.”

Hill asked in confusion, ”How do they throw it? Have the followers of other deities go to the Star Gate to die?”

”Exactly,” List said, nodding solemnly to the incredulous Hill. ”It is said that the Coin Church’s accumulation over thousands of years has all been put forth this time. Across the continent, even mercenaries from deserts and oceans are rushing there crazily.

Even with the Undead Tribe’s reputation for being good at warfare, there are always those willing to bet that they won’t be the ones to die.

Most of the people who come over are somewhat connected to evil, so there’s no need to feel sorry for them.

As for their fate, you’ve seen it, sir. So many of the Undead crossed the entire continent and reached us directly. The battle over there has turned into defensive warfare for the Three Gods.

Sir, do you think that His Majesty the King of Saral has already arrived?”

Hill shook his head nonchalantly, ”We don’t care about this; who knows where he’s hiding!

You shouldn’t focus on this matter either. If the Undead uncover something, you have to cover it up.

This world is not like the previous ones. The Lady of the Lost was an anomaly, but the powerful Evil Gods have always been present here.

Seeing all the trouble he’s causing, you can tell he’s not the merciful sort and isn’t afraid of the two backing us.

If something happened to the King, we would be in trouble too.”

The Star Gate would certainly shake at the least, and the God of Time and Space wouldn’t care about completely destroying this passage in order to retrieve William’s soul.

List immediately nodded, ”No problem, sir.” The Tower Spirit definitely didn’t want its curiosity to result in Hill having to detour for hundreds or thousands of years.

It’s one thing for Hill not to want to go back to Teraxil, but being unable to return is entirely another.

”The god of assassination, that Beastman, was actually responding to a bounty,” List sighed. ”The Undead told me that the Pantheon of this world has marked you as a hostile entity. Even a Beastman could take your head and claim the bounty.

All your possessions would belong to the one who kills you.

They even specifically mentioned that you have a Light Artifact and an Ice and Snow Artifact on you.

The Light Artifact was vaguely described as very powerful in striking evil.

However, the Ice and Snow Artifact detailed the Ring of Winter extensively.

Its skills vary slightly from the ring’s, but the descriptions are essentially similar, also noting that all your items can only be used by the Kind Alignment.”

”But no one mentioned a skill that could directly connect to the Sea of Elements.”

”When was the reward posted?” Hill asked keenly.

”I took a close look and indeed it was after the Goddess of Winter came looking for trouble with Sir,” List answered seriously. ”Not long after that, that Los had Anbur find the orc.

It must have been after the Goddess of Winter decided to take action that the Pantheon posted the reward.

The other two are also deities from the Shadow Series. The orc doesn’t know exactly who they are.

Humans have a God of Thievery, halflings and dwarves have their own, but they haven’t faced each other.

I think it’s not a hoax. The Undead Tribe doesn’t know there are two more Peekers, they just asked the orc who else was there, and he mentioned two competitors himself.

It’s likely that those two are really here for the reward.

The two didn’t reveal themselves. The Undead Tribe observed for a while after arriving and left when they saw no opportunity.

Only the orc, the God of Assassination, didn’t give up—one because Los summoned him, the other because they’re very poor, and the Pantheon’s reward is very tempting to him.”

”The Goddess of Gold Coins, huh? But it’s not just her, some things the Goddess of Gold Coins can’t accomplish.

That Hunter, talking about him being both stupid and useless, but he’s also an Evil God, infiltrating my residence so early, the person who gave him information must be extremely trustworthy.

The Rage Pantheon doesn’t have good relations with the Gold Coin faction, aside from the Goddess of Winter, other followers usually don’t like orderly trade.

Even with the World Will’s hints, they wouldn’t collaborate and trust each other like this,” Hill said, raising his head. ”Please have the Undead Tribe check the split-off God of Exploration, somehow I overlooked him.”

List went to carry out the command, and Alice, who had been listening quietly, lightly leapt onto Hill’s lap: ”Is it very troublesome, Hill?”

”Actually, it’s nothing. No wonder the Undead Tribe wanted to clear out Winterland and then station themselves here,” Hill said as he took out a crystal comb specially for Alice and skillfully combed her hair. ”Just let the Life Golems make them some good food, I will work on some special potions these few days. I remember some high-level Magical Plants in the pendant are ready to be harvested.

Can Alice help me collect the materials?”

Alice’s eyes sparkled as she agreed, not even finishing her grooming, she dashed directly into the pendant.

She was very happy to be able to do something for Hill.

Hill held the pendant and sighed, then turned and walked into the Floating Stairway, arriving directly at the Magic Plant garden in the Magic Tower.

The Magical Plants wandering here, after hearing Hill’s description of the outside world, all refused Hill’s request to return to the pendant.

They didn’t find the Magic Tower dangerous, just repeatedly making sure the Undead Tribe really wouldn’t be allowed entrance.

The plants weren’t fond of the Undead who liked to pluck a leaf and run, even though they couldn’t kill them.

The Undead, in truth, held no hostility towards the plants in Hill’s Domain; mostly they just played pranks. According to the agreement with Hill, unless their life was threatened, they couldn’t kill anyone, even the outsiders in Hill Valley.

Once it was clear these fellows were useless to kill, no plant risked being kicked out of the valley to attack them.

But compared to the Magical Beasts that liked to play with the Undead, most Magical Plants preferred a tranquil and composed life rather than being foolishly trifled with.

Shooing those guys away was pointless; the Undead, even when plummeting rapidly through the air, would cheer rather than scream.

Hill looked at the Magical Plants scattered about, finding sunny spots to bask in the sun, and began to doubt his memory.

It was only after summoning List for confirmation that he understood. The Undead hadn’t planned to fight a boss in Hill Valley, but they didn’t refrain from teasing pets and picking flowers.

In any case, even if they seriously annoyed any Magical Beast or Plant and got half-killed, they wouldn’t retaliate.

Hill pinched the bridge of his nose, deciding to pretend he didn’t know about this.

He might as well regard his valley as being overrun by a few hundred silly mongrels. Hill startled for a moment, then shook his head vigorously; he must be crazy to make such a comparison. Those creatures were far more destructive than the Undead.

Hill returned to the top floor and sat by the window, staring blankly at the Undead who were starting their journey to Winterland.

Inside the pendant, Alice, following behind a Life Golem, watched them pick the branches, leaves, and fruits of the Magical Plants, a delicate little basket poised on her head.

The Magical Plants in Hill’s pendant were now the third generation, and most of the time they allowed the Life Golems to deftly snip at them with knives above their heads. But as intelligent beings, they occasionally got moody.

The Life Golems couldn’t handle it then, so it was best to have someone behind who could soothe their moods.

Previously, the high-level Magical Plants and Wood Element took care of these duties, but now it was just Alice.

Therefore, the little white cat didn’t feel at all like she was being sent away by Hill; she happily trotted along.
