Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 606: Chapter 404: Marching South and North, the Conquest Journey of the Undead Tribe

Hill had endured for a while until a group from the Black Rose came running to sell books, and only then did he leave the Magic Tower to greet them at the store.

He wanted to know the specific effects of the web, whether it could directly trap a demigod, and how much damage it could do to one.

Hill had long figured out that the false gods of this world were about as strong as some of the more powerful demigods of Teraxil, like the old sea turtle.

Therefore, if this web were brought to Teraxil, it could cause very frightening consequences.

Don’t be fooled by the way the Undead Tribe was strictly following the rules in Teraxil now, but if one day they decided to leave, causing a massacre would be very common.

Even though William responded quickly, the Undead Tribe could still trap several demigod beasts.

Hill was very worried that they would turn their attention to the Earth Bear, which was known to be the most powerful among magical beasts.

So, he had to prepare for the worst-case scenario and find a solution if any problems arose.

Moreover, he also wanted to know what the Undead Tribe meant by flying chess and whether it was different from what he knew in his previous world.

The result was that Hill received an alchemical toy made by the Undead Tribe.

The ’Perfect Bald’ generously gifted Hill a small box containing a fantastical version of flying chess, modified by an undead alchemist.

He also straightforwardly explained the effect of the web to Hill: It was similar to the original spider web but included an assessment of strength and endurance. Hill felt reassured upon hearing the values of the assessment, as even the legendary Earth Bear had no problem with it, and a newborn cub already had strength comparable to a Sky Knight.

Hill tried to calm his curiosity and chatted with them for a while, listening to their tragic story of ’Snow Cloud Peak’ where their priest met a tragic fate and their future plans of attack.

The Undead Tribe had always been lingering in the North, hoping to see if the Goddess of Winter would emerge to avenge the Goddess of Spring as they believed the four seasonal goddesses were related.

However, the Goddess of Spring was artificially created, and her foolish actions probably had to do with a complete lack of proper settings.

The divinity related to spring was largely under the control of several goddesses of the Elf Deity System and the Goddess of the Earth, and the mastermind clearly did not dare to provoke them.

Nonetheless, the elves seemed to be involved, but Coron directly grabbed them and dealt with it.

Hill believed Coron knew who was behind it but did not see them as an adversary, as they had similar strength. Therefore, the Father of Elves merely issued a warning before leaving.

Nonetheless, he still held some grievances; otherwise, he wouldn’t have brought the Undead Tribe over.

Often, in the world of deities, as long as they didn’t clash directly, all kinds of scheming were permissible.

Any event that would provoke direct divine power confrontation would make them restrain themselves a bit.

After all, what they were contending for was the sovereignty of the world, not its destruction.

Just like Shaer, many evil gods were dissatisfied with her ambition to destroy the entire world; after all, she wanted total annihilation except for herself.

No deity would agree to that.

Hill fully understood Coron’s intention to seek revenge.

The elves born from the World Tree Seed might resemble elves outwardly but were primarily wood element internally; the rest depended on the seed and who planted them.

Much like the Moon Elves of the past, they were chaotic but mostly lacked the capability for plots and schemes, quite different from the elves.

Without the elves, they might just be a group of primitive indigenous people with a strong yearning for the moon.

The elves taught them about power and struggle.

Elves were born from the blood spilled by Coron during battle. They possessed all kinds of elemental affiliations, and living in forests did not mean they couldn’t use a Fireball Technique.

In fact, elves had very temperamental dispositions. They appeared to not care about anything simply because they lived long and took things lightly.

The chaotic faction wouldn’t just sit and chat; they’d roll up their sleeves and get right to action, rather than resigning themselves to fate.

From the structure of the world’s deities, it could be seen that the mastermind had quite the confidence since there were only a few deities he didn’t dare offend.

This world had no Moon Goddess; the deity responsible for this would know very well who they couldn’t provoke in Ferun.

Whether it was the black moon represented by Shaer or the silver moon represented by Suren, both must not appear.

Suren was only at Intermediate Divine Power now due to her own actions, but if she exerted full force, even a strong divine power would shudder.

If Suren were truly weak, Shaer would have captured and eliminated her long ago.

Moreover, her allies were also very powerful.

Secrets hidden in the darkness were seldom concealed from the Lady of the Night. She chose not to intervene because she hoped these dark schemes would restore the once chaotic state of the world when humanity perished.

But if these schemes ever entangled her, Shaer would teach the schemer a lesson on what true darkness divine power was.

As for the absence of the Sun God, that made sense too.

Being innately able to see through all evil and illuminate darkness, the Power of the Sun’s law enforcer couldn’t be controlled.

Though the mastermind controlling this world could prevent the emergence of a Sun System deity, transforming even the Sun God into a puppet was impossible.

This explained why the Goddess of Spring only knew how to hide in the temple; she likely didn’t even understand what laws she governed.

With such a broad role of bringing spring to the world, she likely didn’t even have a Unique Divine Art.

Whereas the Goddess of Winter, on the other hand, was based on a prototype.

Moreover, the initial Lady Winter wielded powerful strength but had the misfortune of encountering the Main God who stole her divinity.

She was forcibly reduced from Intermediate Divine Power to Lower Rank.

So, if the Goddess of Winter were truly modeled after the real Lady Winter, she would possess great endurance.

Unless the Undead Tribe attacked her homeland, the Goddess of Winter wouldn’t actively intervene.

The Undead Tribe’s plan to clean out the North would likely be thwarted.

However, Hill felt deeply touched despite their ruthless treatment of their enemies, as they were very considerate of their acknowledged friends.

These undead had put much thought into Hill’s safety.

Hill could only smile and reassure the worried Undead Tribe: ”This Magic Tower, which I rebuilt, may appear ordinary on the outside but has very high defensive power, not much different from the Magic Tower in Teraxil Valley.

After all, I am now a Legendary Level magician. Without the Goddess of the Earth in this world, no one can bind me in Earth magic.

Moreover, if there’s any danger, I can quickly change the Magic Tower’s structure; I even carry mithril with me.

Don’t worry, even if the Goddess of Winter herself appears, I can definitely hold on until you come to my rescue.”

’Perfect Bald’ shook his head: ”We can’t return quickly like before using a teleportation array or via death to return to the base; once dead, we can only go back to where the Star Gate is.

That place is closer to the Country of Insects; even at our fastest speed, it would take three days to get there.

And what if someone holds us back in the south?”

Hill manifested his Wings of Wind and Thunder, the large wings interwoven with blue currents and dark thunderlight flickering in the room: ”These wings can make me fly up to 1,000 kilometers instantly. I can escape to where you are.”

The Undead Tribe enviously looked at Hill’s wings; they felt these wings were absolutely cool.

Although many girls preferred pure white wings, most boys liked this kind of thunderlight-surrounded spell effect better.

”That’s good.” ’Perfect Bald’ tugged at his ponytail, ”We are heading south this time when we return. The Country of Insects is surrounded by Evil System nations; even if we don’t want to fight bugs, there are plenty of other places to fight.

We will abandon other countries and head straight for the Secretive Country because that damned Lady Venom is behind many troubles.

Schemes and hidden plots are his specialty. Once he is dead, the Insect God and his Evil Alliance will be in chaos.

Using cannibalism to drag an entire nation down an irreversible path was his idea.

But fortunately, only the Lady Venom went that far; the other evil gods weren’t that foolish.

The people of Venom Nation no longer look human, they are uglier than the ugliest demons, and I suspect even devils don’t want their souls.”

Even after so long, mentioning Venom Nation still enraged the Undead Tribe, as this cannibalistic nation had deeply hurt them.

Hill could only be grateful he hadn’t witnessed any of this firsthand.

The main purpose of the Undead Tribe’s visit this time was to clear out their stock before departure, and set up traps around Hill’s Domain.

Spring was still two months away, and the snow around Hill’s Domain was already two meters deep.

The feeling of being near the Arctic was indeed quite different.

The Undead Tribe busied themselves in the thick snow, and nearly every member who came to sell books at Hill’s place left a mark before departing.

”Alright, we are off.” ’Perfect Bald’ solemnly warned Hill before leaving, ”If you encounter trouble, don’t hold out stubbornly! Mr. Hill.

Don’t worry about causing us any trouble; William paid us handsomely to ensure your safety.

Completing one escort mission allows us to level up by half! So, if anything happens, please don’t hesitate to seek our help.

It benefits us as well, Mr. Hill, please don’t be too polite.”

The black-robed loli with a hint of melancholy finally left with her crew after repeatedly cautioning Hill.

Hill, feeling a bit helpless yet touched, watched them set traps in the snow. Thankfully, they had their own warning methods; otherwise, they might blow themselves up even before the enemy arrived.

After everyone was gone, Hill returned to the Magic Tower and opened the small alchemy box he had been eagerly anticipating for a long time.
