Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 610: Chapter 408 The Audacious Mastermind Behind the Scenes

Alice’s mithril sphere had stored tens of thousands of magic spells to strike evil in this period of time. She really loved this beautiful crystal ball and enjoyed standing on top of the Magic Tower, using her paw to gently push the ball off and smash it into the ground, creating a deep pit.

Anyway, the Qiuqiu could still be summoned back to continue the push, and the bored Alice could push it off hundreds of times a day.

In order not to be scolded by Hill for neglecting her duties, Alice worked hard to store her only useable attack spell into those facets.

Seeing that she was exhausting her mana every day, Hill didn’t say anymore.

Alice had matured a lot compared to the past; even though she knew it was a waste of time, she would have lazily shirked her responsibilities without any qualms.

This time, to completely eliminate this uncomfortable feeling coming from the Goddess of the Sea, Alice almost instantly released all the spells on the mithril sphere.

Anbur, who had been struggling, couldn’t utter a sound anymore and just collapsed to the ground.

The band of sea water that had enveloped her scattered on the ground in an instant.

”Anbur!” A cry of alarm came through the hurricane, ”Damn it! Let me down!”

The Goddess of Winter really was still alive and well.

Hill silently bowed his head and gently slapped himself.

He had truly underestimated this manipulator behind the scenes, who was able to control the massive storm summoned by Hill. Could it be that Talos had actually been replicated?

How was that possible?

In those deities, he only saw one Desert Storm King, whose most obvious weakness was that he couldn’t leave the desert. Outside of it, he couldn’t even use his divine power!

”Hill?” Alice, who had succeeded with a single hit, retrieved her mithril sphere, and was now cleaning the cute ball in a small pool that List had provided for her.

Although, with the presence of the Power of the Sun, it was impossible for the crystal-like sphere to have any dirt, it seemed that without washing it with water, Alice still felt it was a bit dirty.

She turned her head to look at Hill, who had slapped himself, with full concern in her eyes.

”It’s nothing, I just underestimated the existence behind this world,” Hill said, looking at the emerging figure. He was casting spells to dissipate the typhoon spinning around the Magic Tower.

That huge, dark-skinned figure wearing a turban, who looked very much like a Lamp Genie, made Hill feel a bit panicked.

Hill tried hard to sense the other’s divine power and then realized, dazedly, that it was only slightly stronger than the Goddess of Winter.

He forced himself to recall Talos’s history. Fortunately, since he had acquired the Ring of Winter, he had taken the time to look through the Berserker God System.

Hill let out a light breath, truly grateful for William’s generous forum sharing.

As long as he kept that incident to himself, he could ask the Undead Tribe to provide a transcription using the Transcription Technique.

Although it was just a fleeting glance, Hill still recognized the entity before him—was this the manifestation of the Storm God that had been taken for the main body?

The man who had saved the Goddess of Winter turned to face the Magic Tower: ”I am Los, the King of Storm! Human! No storm can harm me!

You dare harm my subordinate!

I will tear you to shreds!”

Hill frowned as he looked at the Goddess of Winter, who was leaning heavily against Los. She was draped in a thick white robe, her silver-white hair cascading down.

If it weren’t for the existence of the Goddess of Gold Coins, he would have suspected that the mastermind behind this world was Max, the God of Thievery.

Although there were indeed rumors that the Frost Maiden had a very close relationship with Talos, the Storm God, Talos had always been notorious for trying to seize the divinity of the Frost Maiden.

If Olypher, the Frost Maiden, were not left with no other choice, she certainly would not continue to cling to Talos’s servicemen.

In Hill’s memory, among the deities of Ferun, only Max would do something so trivial yet enough to infuriate two deities.

He truly made enemies of the entire world, even his own mother Shaer would act against him.

But it was all his own doing. If it were him, creating trouble across crystal walls and offending all gods would be quite typical.

But what about the Goddess of Gold Coins? They were true enemies!

In the deafening thunder, Hill pushed aside his confusion and observed the King of Storm in front of him closely.

Since he knew that the neighbor was the Goddess of Winter, Hill had, of course, prepared himself for the possibility of encountering an inferior product of the Storm God.

Although it seemed unlikely, it was merely a matter of preparing for thunder. The alchemy equipment he held was sufficient for the task.

Due to the presence of the God of Nobility, William had once entrusted Fran to research numerous methods of absorbing thunder.

Fran, who didn’t really like that noble God of Monarchy, seriously designed several magic arrays.

Now Hill was using one of them, capable of absorbing thunder and converting it into water.

A light rain began to fall within the defensive magic array, and Hill gently used a mix of Tide Dance Moon Welcoming and Water mist spells.

He looked down and felt that the plants on the ground had grown quite a bit again!

”Hill, how do we deal with this guy?” it seemed that her successful ambush of Anbur had emboldened Alice to adopt a more belligerent stance for once.

”We can’t kill this guy,” Hill said softly, ”It’s best to find a way to keep him out for a while. When the Undead Tribe arrives, we’ll still need to survive in this world, so let’s not offend such a powerful being.”

”Who is this? Even a copy shouldn’t be killed?”

”That’s a being of formidable Divine Power,” Hill whispered, ”Coron is also a being of formidable Divine Power. However, this one has an especially bad temper, is violent, impatient, and easily angered, always thinking about chaos and world destruction.”

”How does he compare with Shaer? Shaer also wants to destroy the world, right?” Alice asked softly. Ever since she had experienced Shaer’s power once, the little cat had been quite fearful of her.

”Shaer is stronger,” Hill affirmed with certainty.

Even if Talos himself were present, Hill would dare to say this, for who else but the God of Destruction was born from the first conflict between Shaer and Suren!

He must have inherited more of Shaer’s thinking but was more chaotic.

As for Coron, as long as he remained of the Kind Alignment, his damage would never surpass the likes of Shaer and Talos, even if his Divine Power was stronger than Talos’s. Normal people would fear Talos more.

Because normal people hardly ever do anything that would offend Coron; he doesn’t care much about trivial matters. But it’s different with Talos, who would pursue the death of ordinary people forever over a simple disagreement.

Unless Hill never left the Magic Tower again, or he simply returned to Teraxil. Otherwise, he really didn’t want to offend Talos!

Who knows whether Talos would think that his copy shouldn’t die at the hands of mortals. Hill was no Lich God with the Goddess of Magic backing him.

Hill was still unsure about the level of protection provided by his family’s ancient ancestor, the World Tree that occupied multiple universes.

If he were to be killed, even if the World Tree sought vengeance for him, it would not be worth it!

”But didn’t Hill say the mastermind behind the scenes wouldn’t dare to strike against a being with formidable Divine Power? Other than the Three Gods of Justice, whom the Evil Faction hates the most, there shouldn’t be others!” Alice asked, puzzled.

”So I’m slapping my own face!” Hill said helplessly, ”I forgot that Talos has a deity-like avatar that he always pretends has nothing to do with him.

But in fact, it is him.”

”Isn’t the Divine Power different?” Alice asked with some confusion, ”How could he pretend to be someone else?”

”It’s said that Talos has reincarnated, and this Bell Los is him.

When deities reincarnate, they might not even retain their memories, which can lead to a slight deviation in behavior. Therefore, it can be said that they are not the same person.

But their Divinity is the same.” Hill swept a strand of hair from in front of his eyes to the back of his head, ”Given Talos’s temper, if someone in the same world dared to compete with him for Divinity, it would be strange if he didn’t kill the other party, especially since it’s just a Lower Rank Divine Power giant.

But he has never interfered, so everyone kind of knows it.

It’s just that I didn’t expect it could be played this way!”

”What should we do?” Alice asked anxiously, ”I killed one of his minions; will it cause trouble for Hill?”

”It’s okay.” Hill tapped on the window, having made up his mind, ”He won’t care about the life and death of Anbur. Even the Frost Maiden, who is a relatively obedient subordinate, is of no concern to him, so Anbur, in a way a competitor, is dead anyway.”

”Murderous Vine?” List asked hesitantly.

”The God of Hunting could die a hundred times and he wouldn’t blink an eye,” Hill replied quickly, ”Alliances within the Evil Faction are not that solid. The King of Storm only submissively follows because Talos is strong enough; if given the chance, the God of Hunting wouldn’t hesitate to strike at Talos.”

It took Alice a long time to understand these differences, and she sighed softly: ”The outside world is so complicated, sometimes I really think it would have been better if I had never left Hill’s valley.

But I’m not content to remain a child forever.

Even without Merkel, I would choose to grow up.

I have met all the Spirits of Nature in Teraxil, and those who really choose not to grow up live each day free and happy, but I don’t think I could live like that, lost in such an illusory life.

Those who choose the path of maturity have their own troubles, but they live lives that are relatively more real.

Hill, though there are many unpleasant things, I am still happy, right?”

Hill couldn’t resist walking over to pet the little white cat’s head, as Alice was now contemplating many things.

He smiled gently: ”Of course, as long as I’m here, Alice is happy.

As for the rest, it only depends on whether Alice wants them, just don’t focus all your willpower on those things.

Alice, even in love, you must first love yourself, and then love the other person.”

The top floor of the Magic Tower was filled with warmth.

But outside, Los was stomping in rage; his raging storms had no effect on Hill’s Magic Tower, as the mage inside was very proficient with the Water Element and Wind Element Laws, directly countering them, leaving only Thunder Element Spells available to him.

Yet, this Magic Tower actually absorbed the lightning! What kind of world did this come from, why choose absorption over resistance?

If it were just a Defensive Magic Array that resisted thunder attacks, Los could simply increase the Thunder’s Attack Power, and sooner or later, he would break through.

But with absorption, Los would have to pay a much higher price, and it would also strengthen the Magic Tower; he was so reluctant!
