Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 622: Chapter 420: There is No Right or Wrong in Racial Wars

Spencer felt his intelligence was being insulted. He had been following William every day, so why hadn’t he noticed anything!

Did Hill know about this?

He pondered for a while, feeling a bit dejected.

If even someone as naive as Hill was aware, did that mean Spencer was truly the clueless one?

Moreover, wouldn’t the God of Nobility change his name to Eternal Enemy of Magical Beasts in the future?

Did he think that magical beasts could have a Racial God but absolutely couldn’t have a unified Beast Nation?

Spencer couldn’t help but ask, ”How did His Majesty the King know?” He paused before asking again, ”Has His Majesty the King always known?”

”Isn’t it quite normal? Compared to the White Wolf God incident, the thorny rose has been much gentler.” William said calmly. ”When the World Tree revived, the way he looked at the magical beasts was already off, not to mention when the Goddess of the Earth awakened. Just by looking at that goddess, it was obvious she didn’t much like humans.

At that time, we, the human deities, were all worried that the goddess might support the magical beasts. Did the magical beasts not understand how important Alice was? Of course we understood! She was the daughter recognized by her grandson!

Sowing discord and causing emotional turmoil were the specialties of that pair.”

”Hill?” Spencer murmured. Since the deities seemed to understand, what about that favored child of nature?

”Even if he didn’t know before the incident, he should understand once something happened to Alice.” William leaned on the arm of the throne and sighed a bit. ”But what could he do?

Even if he awakened the bloodline of the Earth Bear, Hill still considered himself human!

Between magical beasts and humans, he wouldn’t choose the magical beasts.

Otherwise, with Hill’s aversion to trouble, why wouldn’t he continue staying in my royal palace?

He only wanted to see the knowledge of other worlds, not really to deal with the nobles and mages of other worlds.

What’s the difference with Teraxil?

Greedy and extraordinarily greedy?

He wouldn’t allow Alice to have friendly contact with us, even if that cat couldn’t understand it at all.

Anyway, I kept silent when Arturas was doing bad deeds, because the most likely trouble in the Monster Nation was Alice!

As long as those magical beasts were blinded by interests, the worst result would be the loss of the sun, moon, sea, and earth’s friendliness towards the magical beasts, not to mention Adrian and the others with the Alchemist Master’s inheritance in their Mage Tower.

Only fools would think that the Sea God, who had been competing with Alice for years, would ignore her misfortune.

For Hill, Agleya wouldn’t just stand by and watch someone hurt that cat.

Those harboring hostility towards the magical beasts knew that if Alice gave up on the Monster Nation, these magical beasts wouldn’t dare to be so rampant and untouchable for at least a few thousand years.

What’s really surprising is that Arturas took action so quickly.

But I noticed some hints; Hill understood well that nothing in Teraxil could escape my notice.”

William shrugged, ”Actually, Hill should understand too. Arturas just accelerated what was bound to happen in the Monster Nation. These were things Alice would have to face sooner or later.

Otherwise, why would Hill add so many protections for his little white cat if not to prevent her from getting emotionally hurt and losing her life one day?

Those two might’ve done something good after all. If they had waited for hundreds of years, that leopard might not be as devoted to Alice as he is now!

Look at the gods of so many worlds; they’re either lifelong loners or playboys. Those who focus on one relationship at a time are rare noble souls!”

Spencer couldn’t help but sigh, ”The fact that Hill is still so friendly towards you really shows his rectitude.”

”Because he knows that if Merkel establishes a powerful enough Beast Nation, sooner or later it will become a great enemy of humans.” William’s voice turned sharp, ”So, he won’t help Merkel build a nation, nor will he stop humans from striking against the Monster Nation.

His only dissatisfaction is that the target was Alice.

But when Alice married Merkel with all of Hill’s backing, it was destined to be a stormy affair for her.

If not for the Earth Deity System, perhaps the human deities could have turned a blind eye!

But Teraxil clearly belonged to the Goddess of the Earth! Even if we deities don’t fear her, we wouldn’t want magical beasts to become her direct subordinates.

If they really rose to power, would there be any place for humans?”

Spencer sighed softly.

He looked up at the black leopard. ”So, does Merkel know all of this?”

”Right now, he’s overwhelmed by his emotions and doesn’t have much time to reflect.

After coming out of seclusion, the leopard went on a rampage, killing those who sought death, then frantically searched for Alice’s whereabouts.

Once he confirmed that Alice had left Teraxil, he gave up completely on becoming the Beast King again, even dissipating his already-formed divinity.”

William couldn’t help but laugh, ”You probably don’t know how much he sacrificed to get past Agleya’s blockade to reach the Star Gate.

That Sea God ignored even her temple in the great whirlpool. The entire area around the Star Gate was filled with her Moon Elves from her Divine Kingdom.

Agleya didn’t care about his struggles; Alice’s sorrow was reason enough for her to go all out against Merkel.

In this whole affair, the only ones likely to be totally oblivious are those two daughters of Hill.

Still, if I keep this leopard locked up for a while longer, he might come to his senses.”

Spencer looked helplessly at the gloating William. ”Won’t he hate you more?”

”I wasn’t the one who acted.” William replied coldly, ”With Merkel’s intelligence, he wouldn’t be foolish enough to think that I, a human deity, would help him, a magical beast.

This time, Arturas handled things much better than last time—he exercised great restraint, causing no significant negative consequences.

As for Hill, even if he was displeased, as long as Alice wasn’t in any danger, he would turn a blind eye.

This is a racial struggle!”

Spencer sighed again. When it came to racial survival, even deities of the kind alignment would act without hesitation, and no one could accuse them of being ruthless in their methods.

The White Wolf God incident could still be discussed, but this time, there were no actions that crossed the line.

The fact that such a simple act of provocation could succeed only proved that these magical beasts were already thinking along these lines and would eventually target Alice.

The magical beasts’ greed for long lives always surpassed their rationality.

”Is this leopard’s release approved by His Majesty the God of Time and Space?” Spencer couldn’t help but ask William, as the contract between the undead tribe and the magical beasts required the gods of time and space to bear witness.

”Merkel nearly killed half of the legendary-ranked magical beasts that had once fought alongside him, including two demigods.” William glanced at the cage above, ”His faith among the magical beasts collapsed entirely. He’ll never be able to become the Beast King again.

Having gone to such lengths, it would be best if we took a step back. Otherwise, once he figures things out, keeping him in Teraxil would be a hassle.

Killing him won’t be that easy.

If there’s genuine danger, he’d flee back to Hill’s valley. Who would dare chase him there? A branch of the World Tree is standing there!”

Spencer nodded. With Alice around, Merkel still had some hope. If that path were completely cut off, this leopard could indeed become a real problem.

At the very least, he was genuinely powerful, and dealing with an earth-system demigod in Teraxil, where deities couldn’t intervene, wouldn’t be easy.

”In any case, Hill will be the one with headaches in the future.” William concluded indifferently, ”As long as the little white cat doesn’t give up, Hill, no matter how annoyed he is with this leopard, will keep him by his side.”

Spencer couldn’t help but shake his head. He still remembered Hill’s initial rage followed by his immediate acceptance.

Merkel chasing after Alice wasn’t a bad thing for the humans of Teraxil, but it might be a headache for Hill.

Unfortunately, the one currently troubled wasn’t Hill but List.

For the first time, he felt that the Tower Spirit acting human-like wasn’t any good; it would have been better if he had remained as blunt as before, directly communicating everything to Hill.

He stood in front of Hill’s tightly closed laboratory door, unsure whether he should press the emergency bell array.

From what the undead tribe implied, William planned to keep that stupid leopard locked away until all battles were over. The timeline indeed seemed generous.

However, List genuinely couldn’t gauge Hill’s attitude towards the matter this time.

He always felt that Hill’s stance on the leopard was somewhat ambiguous.

Hill hadn’t even ordered the undead tribe to send messages to have the leopard killed!

Even if Alice might not want Merkel dead, at the very least, Hill would have put out a bounty, making all the culprits in the Monster Nation fall under the undead tribe’s blade.

After all, it was those magical beasts who struck first!

Although Hill usually appeared gentle, it didn’t mean he was a pushover. Once provoked, his retaliation was ruthless and without hesitation.

List hesitated outside Hill’s door, attentively listening for any movement inside.

If Hill’s research on these pseudo-artifacts succeeded, maybe his mood regarding the leopard’s appearance would improve?

Inside the laboratory, Hill was unaware of the events outside.

After examining the pair of curved blades, he shifted his attention to the dagger.

The curved blades had achieved their demon-slaying effect through some added extraordinary materials. The base material and the alchemy array were nothing special.

The material seemed derived from some unique creature, possibly even the powder from a dragon’s claw.

In contrast, the dagger turned out to be naturally formed from a dragon’s fang!

Hill was completely immersed in studying the few naturally formed arrays within the dragon fang. Whatever happened outside could not disturb him!
