Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 625: Chapter 423 Dragon Baby’s Large Playground

Seeing that Hill was merely venting some frustration, List finally let go of his somewhat anxious heart.

If Hill were really to go to a world like Ferun, it would be better for him to stay in the Orderly Good faction.

That place is too chaotic, and sticking to the Orderly Good can help Hill decline many messy invitations.

Being considered old-fashioned is better than being invited to strange parties.

As for the Evil Faction, even when facing the Evil God, he did not think Hill would fail to escape.

List knew what Hill had obtained from the Elven God King, and he even suspected that it was Coron who instructed the Elven God King to hand it over; otherwise, how could he bear to part with it!

The Undead Tribe had stayed with Hill for a few days, and since the Goddess of Winter still hadn’t appeared, they were beginning to falter.

After some of the leaders had made inquiries, List promptly helped them spread the word.

Changing the weather to make it snow was not something Hill would be stingy about.

Moreover, the Undead Tribe and William were not exactly acting as one at Hill’s place.

Hill, of course, wouldn’t change his mind; since he had promised, he would not go back on his word.

Hill, in his study, watched a grand and noisy event unfold with Alice.

A festival led by the Undead Tribe always slid towards an unbelievably ridiculous direction in the end.

Even they themselves had not imagined such an outcome at the beginning.

Indeed, many of the Undead had a sense of beauty; those large ice sculptures were even comparable to those he had seen in the City of Ice and Snow.

There were also those starships that mimicked the starry sky of their world, making Hill marvel.

However, beauty and grandeur could never top absurdity in the Undead’s world.

Once absurdity began, it couldn’t stop; only something even more absurd could overcome it.

Hill and Alice almost laughed until their bellies hurt.

The delightful celebration of ice sculptures lasted for three days before the Undead prepared to head for the Star Gate.

Hill didn’t hold them back; he sent Alice back to her pendant and then returned to continue his experiments.

Since William was clearly not appearing in public, there was no Teleportation Array available; the Undead had to trek the long distance, and some would prefer to stay behind to take on smaller tasks. Hill needed only a channel for calling help when facing a major boss.

For the short term, no problems should arise at Hill’s place.

The Alchemy Potions that Hill had placed in the store a while ago were all bought by the Undead, and List occasionally sent over some of Hill’s practice Legendary Equipment.

With sufficient benefits, if an enemy Hill couldn’t defeat appeared, more Undead would come to the rescue.

And incidentally, List could also collect some Crystal Stones to support the Magic Tower.

In just a few days, though much money was spent on buying books, the Magic Tower still accumulated mountains of Elemental Crystals.

After all, the Crystal Stones the Undead earned from selling books eventually ended up back in List’s hands.

It was unknown how many attribute-less Elemental Crystals the God of Time and Space had mined; was that entire starry sky formed from ore?

At least, the Undead Tribe never seemed to lack these things.

In these days of welcoming and seeing off, List suddenly realized something: with or without these reasons, Hill would still go to Ferun.

The Floating City was like honey hanging before a bear’s nose; sooner or later, he would be drawn by the scent.

It’s just that the recent events made Hill, who was always somewhat hesitant, make up his mind.

Or maybe, through the battles with these False Gods, Hill had gained a better understanding of his own strength.

For many years, always interacting with beings stronger than himself, Hill had no way to ascertain if he could survive in the chaotic Ferun Great Land.

If it were Fran, he probably would have set off on his own long ago.

But the true Hill, who prefers to be thoroughly prepared, has never done anything rash from his childhood to this day.

Always creating contingency plans is an old habit he had; where others might exaggerate situations by a third, those in construction like them might exaggerate tenfold and still not fully cover the troubles they might encounter.

After Hill separated the sharp Runes and Demonslayer Runes from Dragon Fang, he stepped out of the laboratory.

There were two Rune Arrays, not particularly complete; his abilities were not enough to discern patterns from the incomplete runes.

He had to give up temporarily.

As the door opened, List had already appeared outside, ”Sir, your experiment seems to be going smoothly, congratulations.”

”It’s fairly successful, the most basic task has been completed. Anything new recently?”

”A large part of the Undead left, and recently the battles at the Star Gate area have been very fierce; almost two-thirds of the deities in this world are involved,” List replied. ”The deities not yet involved, I’ve marked them out. Would you like to take a look?”

”Is there any particularly interesting existence?”

”There’s a God of Strategy who oddly did not follow the God of Battle into combat, which theoretically shouldn’t happen.”

Hill paused for a moment. That Goddess of War—the Red Knight?

”Which nation is she from?” Hill went straight back to his study, pulled out a map of this world.

Selecting a set of strategy chess, also known as international chess, Hill placed a knight chess piece on the Divine Kingdom List had indicated.

It was beside the largest mountain range in Felunryel.

Her nation was next to the God of Slaughter; the two were constantly at war and rarely expanded outward.

”The God of Slaughter did not go to the Star Gate, did he?” Hill asked, looking up.

”Yes,” List watched as Hill opened the chess box and floated the pieces onto the deities who had not yet joined the battle.

Then, as if he remembered something, he marked the nations of the deities who had already died at Hill’s hand.

A peculiar curve appeared on the map.

Hill took out a pen and drew lines toward the highest peak of the mountain range.

He then grabbed the Dragon Fang and pulled out a broken rune he did not understand, using beams of light.

If the Nation of the Red Knight, located in the middle of the southern side of the mountain range, was placed centrally, the same rune appeared on the map.

Hill removed the excess lines from the map, clearing the corresponding lines on the northern side of the mountain range as well.

A new rune appeared.

”What does that mean?” List couldn’t help but ask.

”Guardian bloodline,” Hill said with a strange laugh.

He could hardly control his thoughts recalling the wild speculations of the Undead Tribe.

Indeed, does only chaos understand chaos?

”I recall sir once speculated it was a method used by an Evil Dragon to curry favor with the Chromatic Dragon God?” List spoke slowly.

”This world has lasted a long time, it’s almost going to collapse into the Abyss,” Hill said as calmly as possible, ”perhaps even the Dragon Queen has come to watch,

leaving behind an egg and plenty of food.”

No wonder the Evil Gods of this world devour humans.

If humanity has grown accustomed to it, and their devouring doesn’t matter to other nations, then what else could be the fate of this world?

Before plunging into the Abyss from the endless hatred of humans, ordinary creatures will likely have been devoured.

And then directly send their beloved children to the nine layers of hell, back to their true mothers.

The eventual fate of those False Gods could also be imagined.

What a delicious snack, just right for a family of three to tease their appetites with False Gods, like those bothersome deities of Ferun with similar temperaments, and to celebrate a moment of reunion.

Hill finally understood why Coron wanted to blow this world up, previously just a testing ground, he remained silent to avoid direct conflict with the Chromatic Dragon Queen.

But as a being of the Kind Alignment, he could not bear to see so many lives lost in his silence.

Yet he didn’t want the Chromatic Dragon Queen to seek revenge on his people, so he used this oblique method.

As long as Coron did not act himself, the Chromatic Dragon Queen would hesitate to provoke him first.

Fear always exists only among those of equal strength.

Hill silently marked the Land of Exploration impersonated by Bane and Valkin’s City of Commerce as well.

He couldn’t help but laugh.

Bane was alright; his position was almost surrounded by strong Divine Powers. If something really happened, he could just escape.

Moreover, as the God of Exploration never makes a sound but only observes his neighbors, there’s no need for him to come here personally.

He could just sacrifice this bit of Divine Soul.

His strong defenses would instead cause the Evil Dragon to spare him.

As for that City of Commerce, it appeared extremely safe, located to the left of the mountain range, beyond which was the ocean.

Both from the land and the sea, this city could connect to the entire world.

She even dared to name it the City of Coin, why not call it the City of Gifts?

The location of Valkin was almost where an Evil Dragon could find her as soon as it was born.

And the glittering, splendorous city couldn’t even be described adequately by its bustling level of riches.

For the Dragon Race, this must be the most generous birth gift!

Every day, Little Dragon watching that city would surely eat and sleep zealously, right?

To receive a present from its own father sooner would be better.

”Look, the Dragon Ball,” Hill said with a laugh, placing a pearl on the map where the City of Coin was located.

Instantly, List understood Hill’s implication; the Dragon Ball was an intrinsic part of a dragon, something it could always swallow back.

”Valkin, is she foolish?” he murmured, ”Is cooperating with an Evil Dragon really much better than making a deal with a Demon?”

”At least she won’t be locked up and tormented,” Hill thought for a moment before continuing, ”and although it’s like drinking poison to quench thirst, her Divine Power has still held up.

Otherwise, she would have been completely ruined by the time she escaped from the Demon.

Over the years, Valkin might have established new worship in Ferun, so even if she loses her followers here, she wouldn’t necessarily succumb.

As long as she remains a deity, there’s still hope she’ll regain her power.”

”That’s probably unlikely, unless she goes back to the Abyss to find Six Fingers again,” List suddenly retorted. ”Besides, she must be considered an enemy by most of the Dragon Race, right?

She’s really brave, truly fitting for someone reckless enough to ask a Demon for a pathway.”

Hill couldn’t help but laugh, even though he agreed, he still stopped List from continuing.
