Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 614: Chapter 412: The Sudden Appearance of the God of Orcs

The battle of the Undead Tribe ended very quickly.

Before they even returned, Hill knew the outcome was victory.

After all, the Undead Knights beneath his tower had already put down their shields and started dividing up territories. They were holding paintbrushes of various colors, marking out fan-shaped areas on the ground beneath the tower.

Hill glanced at their outermost boundary, and, with a flick of his finger, he dragged the remaining bones of Anbur’s corpse to the bottom of the largest tree.

Hill saw ’Snow Cloud Peak,’ and as a mage, he didn’t rush over to hack at the boss. It seemed that in his eyes, the deity who ambushed Hill wasn’t much of a big boss.

Compared to going back to fight monsters, the encampment needed him more.

He was sitting on the back seat of a Magical Beast elephant, observing the outermost boundary of the encampment, while his close companion, a fox, kept sniffing and muttering something to him.

The knight in front of him was also leaning over to discuss with them, and Hill felt the face was quite familiar, probably a commander from the Giant Elephant Legion.

Hill asked List, ”Can you speak directly to Snow Cloud Peak? If you can, ask him where they plan to put the main gate of the encampment.”

List nodded, ”Just a projection is fine for that location.”

He appeared on the elephant that Snow Cloud Peak was sitting on quite quickly. The elephant didn’t react, but ’Snow Cloud Peak’ and his fox were startled.

The fox quickly jumped back two steps, completely ignoring its companion who almost fell off the elephant’s back in fright.

When List returned, Hill mockingly asked, ”What are those two scheming? They don’t seem to be in good spirits!”

”They’re planning to conquer Winterland first and are discussing whether there’s a hidden reason why you didn’t kill the Goddess of Winter,” said List, unable to suppress a smile. ”When I got there, they were speculating about what the Goddess of Winter looks like and whether she’s more beautiful and enchanting than the Elf Queen.”

Hill couldn’t help but roll his eyes; since becoming Legendary, he really hadn’t indulged in such juvenile behavior, but this time he couldn’t help it.

The Undead Tribe was supposed to gossip about their own affairs, weren’t they? When did they start making up stories about the love lives of NPCs too? Hill didn’t hope to have this special attention among the Undead Tribe.

These bizarre tales would be better left to William.

Ever since Spencer swore a lifelong oath of allegiance to William as a Legendary Knight, they had a special substation of their own.

Although on their own forum, William would always ban similar articles, it couldn’t stop them from flowing to other places to read.

Hill could only be glad that the content made up about him was still within the range of the feminine. Even if he was named a Great Fairy of ice and snow, he was quite content.

List informed Hill, ”They are still looking for the location, seems like they’re calculating the number of families and then drawing lots for positions.”

”What do you mean?” Hill said, baffled. ”Haven’t all those knights already claimed their family’s territory? Are they going to do work for other families? What a joke, unless there’s money involved.”

”They’re just guessing that the main gate would be to the south, so they claimed that spot first. It’s mainly the larger families betting on where the gate will be.”

”You should be very familiar with the habits of the Undead Tribe; once a family is strong, they tend to be quite arrogant in their ways.”

”So drawing lots was the only solution, but they also found a new entertainment, which is to see who doesn’t have to move.

Actually, the most troublesome part is drawing the line, but which family doesn’t have a worker to manage these things?

Their drawing seems to involve two types; the top 10 on the merit list get to draw for positions near the gate.

After all, even if a smaller family draws a spot next to the main gate, they would have to give it up for lack of defense.”

”The families with fewer people just draw lots for a position casually; nobody wants to be next to those larger families. Those who are unlucky just have to accept their fate.”

Hill nodded helplessly, knowing all too well that people who play PvP are not known for good tempers.

’Snow Cloud Peak’ below seemed to have finally settled on the location of the main gate, standing on the elephant and waving energetically towards the Magic Tower.

Hill didn’t know if he was seen, but still nodded in response.

As he lifted his hand, adorned with the Crystal Flower Ring, a huge ten-meter-high, two-meter-wide obsidian wall rose from the ground.

’Snow Cloud Peak’ stood at the only gap, looking around curiously. After touching the wall and confirming the materials used, he gave a big thumbs up toward the Magic Tower, seemingly very pleased.

Then he directed the remaining Undead Tribe to deploy various Alchemy Huts.

Although there were hundreds of thousands of individuals, probably a little over a hundred huts could accommodate them all.

Hill could tell their placement of the huts had become regularized; although the sizes varied, which hut was where and what profession was using it, they all knew by heart.

The Undead Tribe seemed to have become accustomed to this method of stationing, and specialized camp management even emerged.

When Hill saw from afar that people had already flown back, the camp had already been neatly organized, with only the construction of the main gate remaining.

’Snow Cloud Peak’ stood at the entrance and called down dozens of people from the flying mages, likely their alchemy specialists.

Seeing the Undead Tribe beginning to repair the camp, Hill returned to his bedroom since everyone else was busy; he didn’t want to disturb them. He could leave the remaining tasks to List, and by the time Hill would wake up tomorrow morning, all he would need to do was listen to the final summary.

Having not had a proper rest for a long time, what he wanted most now was to get a good night’s sleep.

Moreover, with his spirit being too tense these past few days, Hill felt the need for a bath.

As for Alice, who had realized she indeed couldn’t go out, had already fallen asleep on the sofa.

When Hill woke up in the morning, he truly felt refreshed and couldn’t help but stretch himself with a big yawn.

No matter how convenient the Cleansing Spell was, he couldn’t stand it; perhaps he would never forget those days after walking around the construction site, madly longing for a bath.

Walking into the living room and seeing the table full of delicacies and Alice sitting upright on a high chair next to it, Hill asked cheerfully, ”Good morning.”

”Good morning, Hill,” said Alice without lifting her head, eyes glued to the bowl of creamy chicken porridge in front of her, ”May I start eating?”

”Of course, please go ahead~” Hill also sat down and started eating.

After eating his fill on a sunny morning, even the prospect of receiving a report from List about enemies targeting him didn’t dampen Hill’s good spirits.

”The assailant is the God of Assassination of the orcs,” said List, which was a direct blow to Hill.

”Orcs? How could it be? Aren’t those guys down in the far south? Without the protection of a chief god, aren’t they only able to shrink onto the large island down south?

Although it sounds funny, I remember that under the leadership of the Three Gods of Justice, humans are utterly unafraid of orcs.”

When the Chief Orc God, Gewoosh, is absent, the other orc deities are just a mess, easily driven out of the continent by humans.

Far from fulfilling the ideas of the figure behind the scenes, orc infighting, without the strong oppression of their chief god, wasn’t even a challenge for humans of not high level to drive them out.

Speaking of which, the mastermind in the shadows actually set up all the races.

The reason this world so firmly believes in the creation myths of deities is also related to their ancestors directly appearing in this world.

The gods created children of various races and let them grow up robustly under their care.

Hill, feeling nauseated, could see that clearly, this scoundrel took away children of various races through despicable means, raising them from infancy under different beliefs, naturally breeding these incarnations of the laws.

No wonder the deities of this world are so weak; they haven’t truly been recognized by the world and could only end up as puppets to the laws.

In a normal world, it is only false gods who become divinities using this method and then seek genuine faith to get back on the right track.

Take these earliest inhabitants; he actually also instilled hatred among the races, like between dwarves and orcs, elves and orcs.

But Coron quickly realized it and rescued the elves who had been secreted to this world, probably even confronting the mastermind.

The Main God of the Dwarves is somewhat laissez-faire with his followers, and many dwarves in this world belong to the Evil System, clearly abducted from the Abyss or underground.

So, these dwarves are mostly in mines or caverns, struggling with cave-dwelling races like gnolls. There’s basically no room for humans to live in those places.

As for the elves, Coron also rescued the Dark Night Elves.

The relationship among the elves is actually quite complex. There are followers of Coron among the Dark Night Elves, not to mention many who follow his own daughter.

Even if the dark-skinned Dark Night Elves hate their pale-skinned relatives on the surface to death, that is their own business. If there really were a group of orcs, which they consider lowly, abusing elves in front of them, they would certainly wipe out both parties.

If any scheme needed those orcs, the Dark Night Elves would surely exterminate them afterward.

For them, breaking a deal is nothing unusual.

Given this environment, how could Hill dare to believe that the orc god, hated by humans, dwarves, and most other races, could traverse the entire continent to come here and assassinate him?

”It was brought over by the King of the Desert,” List explained, ”With the help of Anbur from the sea, and most other deities heading toward the Undead Tribe, he could come in.”

”The Human Main God has also joined the battle?” Hill was surprised, ”On what grounds did the Three Gods of Justice declare war on the Undead Tribe? Because they got rid of Lady Venom, who devoured humans?”

”No, because of a request from the Goddess of Gold Coins, they believe that the Undead Tribe will collapse the economic foundation of the whole world,” List answered with a smile, ”And also, the Three Gods of Justice want to avenge the God of Travel, who was innocently killed. He just wanted to protect his followers and didn’t do anything wrong.”

”The real Three Gods of Justice must be rolling in their graves; they’re actually very rule-abiding,” Hill couldn’t help but laugh, ”Doesn’t it sound like those stories of the Three Blind or Three Fools?”
