Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 634: Chapter 432: The Laughter Brought by a Long-Lost Acquaintance

Hill could only watch helplessly as the enthusiastic puppy scampered away.

He now had a new mission, to consult Hill and gather information related to Ferun.

Although the Undead Tribe also had members who enjoyed delving into stories and would check their forum for data when they had time, that was not for now—during a war, who has the energy to waste on forums!

All entertainment starts only after reaching full level; otherwise, it’s not fun but studying or doing homework.

If they really had such a research spirit, they might as well focus on their studies instead of playing games!

Anyway, they all knew that Hill had a photographic memory and was inquiring about the Ferun Pantheon from the Undead Tribe, so all they had to do was ask him.

If there’s nothing else to do, aren’t Experience Packs tempting?

Even though the people from Ferun had taken all the bosses away, countless minor mobs were still waiting for them!

All with red names, the Undead Tribe had been extremely happy recently.

In the absence of the big bosses, they began a grand killing spree.

As for those Evil Gods, they were too preoccupied to care about the Undead Tribe. They are now desperately fighting to protect their little masters.

Otherwise, if something happened to the egg in the volcano, they would probably find it hard to die. From the very beginning, their Divine Souls never fully belonged to them; the Evil Dragon lurking behind the scenes could manipulate their souls as it pleased without them able to resist.

If their minions died, they were just expendable anyway.

The False Gods are now too busy saving themselves. Even if the Undead Tribe was killing mobs right under their noses, these False Gods could turn a blind eye.

Hill didn’t mind clearing up their doubts; he too wanted to know what was happening there.

However, Hill discovered something.

The imitation of the Storm God had not appeared up until now.

Hill was very familiar with his own power. If it took him 7 days to retrieve something from the Underdark, it would be due to his incompetence.

But at this point, with no news at all, it could only mean there was some conspiracy.

Logically, he should have returned to guard the central volcano by now!

Hill pondered deeply for a while, looking at the Ring of Winter on his hand and frowning.

The true Lord of Rage, also a powerful force in the Ferun Pantheon, could not possibly be unaware of the events in this world.

Logically, with his apocalyptic temper, he should have charged into this world at the first opportunity to crush the Evil Dragon with one blow.

But he remained absent.

Even though the Three Gods of Justice had been invited by William and could come directly through the Star Gate, and their summoned comrades belonged to the Forces of Justice or Neutral Faction, they would not publicly refuse Talos seeking revenge.

Despite their profound grievances, the Deities of Ferun would tacitly cooperate with each other when necessary—even those of good and evil.

Especially when it comes to dealing with foreign deities and dragons, neither good nor evil are particularly fond of cooperating with Evil Dragons.

In fact, even those good dragons, the Metal Dragons included, covet gold and silver jewelry. They just choose a more sustainable approach, selling themselves for a good price.

After all, they are dragons, incapable of understanding human predicaments.

After Hill had received the Ring of Winter, he took a close look at the background of the Froster Maiden, the Forger, and was naturally wary of the Berserker’s divinity.

Even though the Ring of Winter that Hill possessed was not the original artifact, it would be odd if Evil Gods were reasonable.

This Lord of Storms, Talos, who is also known as the Berserker, would definitely not miss an opportunity for revenge. But his presence was always accompanied by thunder and storms, not this silent absence.

Could he be aiming to catch his attention?

For Talos, who has always wanted to claim the Divinity of the Winter Maiden for himself, the Ring of Winter, sharing the same power source as Olypher, indeed has value for exploitation.

Hill hesitated for a moment, then without hesitation fortified the camp with Arrays protective against the Wind and Thunder Element.

Although he was a bit weaker in the Thunder Element, Hill was confident he wouldn’t lose to an incarnation when it came to the Wind Series.

Especially if he just used Arrays for defence, even Talos in his True Form might not break through easily.

It’s just a matter of spending a few Crystal Stones and Wind and Thunder Element materials!

Hill felt he wouldn’t lack such resources.

Luckily, the Undead Tribe had once carved Arrays into the entire camp, all of them fundamental.

Hill just had to modify them slightly; most of the Runes could be directly reused, saving a lot of trouble.

The battle over there seemed to be going well. Hill could overhear the Undead Tribe, who were always flattering him, chatting during his occasional breaks.

Having cleared out the attacking False Gods, they were now planning to clean up the City of Coin first.

Hill curiously asked the God of Exploration about it, and it took a while for the Undead Tribe to tell him that when those people from Ferun arrived, the God of Exploration suddenly launched an attack on a large Undead army unit and was ultimately killed by them.

It seems that Bane had already sensed something was amiss and fled early. He was just here to watch the fun and had no intention of directly confronting the Evil Dragon and the Three Gods of Justice.

Even against his eternal enemies, Bane currently did not possess the ability to wage full-scale war against the Forces of Justice, and there was even less need to do so for someone else’s child, as his own son was expendable to him.

Looking at the Tyranny God and then at Valkin, who had been rashly rescued by her friend, Hill could only sigh for her.

If the Goddess of Wealth continues this way, she will either fall completely or become evil.

She indeed has always been ambitious and hardworking, but she always strives in the wrong direction. If she thinks something is worth a gamble, then she will surely lose everything.

The only one who would pay the price to save her is Lyril, the Goddess of Joy. Valkin’s other collaborators certainly did not value her that much.

Ferun is too chaotic, they fail to see the significance of unified Coin.

In this world, Valkin’s scheming is not necessarily wrong; if there were several more worlds like this, she could indeed return to Intermediate Divine Power relying on her divinity as the Creator of currency, and she might even touch the edge of greater Divine Power.

However, she chose the wrong partners.

Hill thought for a long time about why Valkin always chose to deal with the Chaotic Faction.

In fact, the key point is that in a chaotic world, it is impossible for anything to exist in order.

They do not have the concept of a fair trade at all.

Therefore, the Chaotic Faction’s deities have absolutely no interest in Valkin’s Divinity.

But the Orderly Camp, whether Kind Neutral or evil, actually infringes on the Goddess of Wealth’s divine authority, and her lowly Divine Power can hardly resist.

How could she, who was once so ambitious in her quest for great Divine Power, endure the possibility of not even being able to keep her Lower Rank Divine Power?

Valkin is also fighting for her own survival; it’s just that her judgment is always off.

Moreover, working with the Evil Faction means any backup plans could go wrong, and she is very likely to mess them up.

When she started out, she made one correct choice, but then she slid downhill and could never find her way again.

Hill was stunned for a moment. Why did this character sketch seem so familiar to him?

Hill suddenly burst into laughter, covering his forehead and laughing nonstop.

”Sir?” List appeared at Hill’s side.

After Hill connected all the Arrays to the Magic Tower, List could once again appear in every corner of the camp just as before.

He had originally been calculating how many Crystal Stones would be needed to maintain such a vast Array. However, unexpectedly, he found the master of the house squatting in the corner, foolishly laughing at the wall.

”It’s nothing, I just remembered an old acquaintance.” Hill stretched lazily, ”In a different world, even someone as foolish as Olivia seems quite endearing to me!”

List was puzzled as to why Hill would suddenly think of that unfortunate Female Priest.

Although, for some reason, her path to atonement was successful, and she eventually became the Bishop of a small city on the side of Central City, Olivia has always been the long-standing butt of jokes in Teraxil.

In those misfortunate stories, the female protagonists with ’blind eyes,’ mostly would be named something-via.

Adrian went through a lot of effort to rescue his family name, persuading people to tell their stories by mentioning only the given name and not the family name as much as possible.

The result was that Olivia became even more notorious.

Otherwise, given Olivia’s achievements in building churches in Central City and outside the Abyssal Gate, she wouldn’t have had to hide in a small, obscure city where not many people go, and she wouldn’t even want to go back to Saral.

She could only wait for time to make everyone forget her past follies.

”Why would sir think of Miss Olivia?” Despite himself, List could not help asking. It was rare for Hill to be so cheerful, ”Did the Undead Tribe pass on another joke?”

”No, it’s about Valkin.” Hill smiled, ”The Gods of Ferun went off to Gold Farming in the City of Coin. The people of the Goddess of Joy went too.”

List checked his Core and understood Hill’s implication: ”Was she duped again? Is she trapped in the City of Coin and unable to return to Ferun?” ”It seems so,” Hill shook his head with resignation, ”Bane ran away, but she didn’t react. She was probably only completely trapped after the Undead Tribe came in, so she’s still alive.”

”Still alive!” List said without care, ”A scourge for a thousand years, she might as well die sooner.”

Hill chuckled and lowered his head, knowing why List harbored such hatred towards Valkin.

Valkin herself was an unethical merchant, seeing wealth and forgetting fidelity, betrayal of allies was her nature.

To save her own life, what did it matter to betray a Mage from another world?

Using Hill’s information to buy herself time was exactly what she would do.

Hill stood up and dusted off his hands; the Array was complete, now he had to consider how to deal with the Goddess of Wealth if he reached Ferun.

Hill was well aware that deities like Valkin, when facing those they had wronged, only wished for their early death and liberation.

But, Hill scoffed coldly, mere Lower Rank Divine Power. Not seeking trouble did not mean he was afraid of it.
