Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 604: Chapter 402: Is it a Testing Ground or an Amusement Park?

Hearing Hill’s straightforward consent to accept any book, several members of the Undead Tribe showed their pleasure, indicating that they indeed had collected quite a few books.

Five people came in total, and although only two were from the Black Rose, it seemed they had learned from the lessons of the past world, and now everyone in this alliance was scrambling for books.

After all, William only wanted the online version, so handing down these used ones to Hill was certainly a good deal.

The ’Old Age Striking King’ quickly summoned puppets and cleared out the crystal cards.

The other members of the Undead Tribe hurriedly gathered around those puppets to sell the books from their own bags, as this lady would not wait for them long, and it was best to act swiftly to avoid scolding.

The Undead Tribesmen said their goodbyes to Hill one by one, then donned their thick coats, departed the Illusion Array, and entered the thick snowfall, calling forth an Alchemical Sled to speed away.

Hill was somewhat stunned as he watched the sled; he had forgotten that such a thing could be used.

Right, in this world’s skies, there were giant flying Magical Beasts.

If it was a large spaceship, it might be safer, but the small ones, the scent of crystal stones they emitted, might seem like a conveniently delivered feast to the behemoths.

Although the Undead Tribe did not fear these giant beasts, there was no need to attract trouble while traveling.

Hill packed up the books he had just bought and cheerfully headed toward his Magic Tower; this long winter seemed particularly suitable for making a sled for fun!

During Hill’s pleasant sled-making time, the Undead Tribe visited a few more times, and Hill happily collected various books.

They would occasionally bring some news; although it was suspected that the God of Travel might have been tricked, for the Undead Tribe, who were already enemies, there was no real point in explaining.

The main thing was they could fight, and with such a good Experience Pack, none of the Undead Tribe would easily give up unless the other side surrendered.

Hill inquired a little about the Bawudong Family and the maternal clan of Mage Santos.

Mage Santos’s mother’s merchant family had quietly disappeared decades ago.

It could be imagined, once Mage Santos died amidst those schemes, the family that received his greatest care naturally declined.

However, according to the records, they had left the control of the Bawudong Family long ago, and while Mage Santos was still alive, he had already helped them move to another place.

So, it was just a natural loss of many advantages they had gained because there was a Level 17 Mage as their patron, not a complete extinction.

That was sufficient. Mage Santos didn’t have much affection for his mother’s family, after all, it was his birth mother who had been sacrificed and abandoned.

Although out of guilt, he was given the chance to become a Mage, he had repaid them far more.

But after that, he never had any more dealings with the family, otherwise he wouldn’t have been so poor.

Sometimes, Hill felt he might have been attracted to Mage Santos’s Magic Tower by some sort of similar magnetic field.

If Mage Santos was still alive, their ideas would likely align quite well.

As for the Bawudong Family, being devout followers of the God of Travel, they naturally went into the battlefield; how many survived, the Undead Tribe did not know.

The Undead Tribe wouldn’t bother to keep track of who died at their hands, but the Tevalon People who surrendered and then passed the oil painting test, who now handled these miscellaneous tasks behind the Undead, recorded all the deceased Nobles and High-level Professionals.

That illegitimate son, who might have orchestrated the Santos tragedy, also turned to ash along with the Temple’s defensive forces in a recent battle.

Known as the great Bawudong Priest, of course, he was recorded.

Only then did Hill understand why Count Reyes appeared so weak; after all, the influence of the Bawudong Family did not extend to the northern territories of Tevalon.

That Bawudong Great Priest had actually chosen the Northern Diocese; Santos’s death wasn’t in vain.

Reyes’s priests were all managed by this Bawudong Great Priest, and if he became a Cardinal, he would legitimately control the entire Northern Diocese.

In the Temple’s rumors, it was said that in less than ten years, this Bawudong Great Priest would don the purple sash and officially become a Cardinal.

Hill suspected that he sold Santos at a good price, and even obtained many valuable items from the now-legendary culprit.

Hill couldn’t understand the deep hatred an illegitimate child had for a legitimate one, nor did he think that without Mage Santos’s mother, his own mother—a mere farmer’s daughter—would be legitimately elevated, right?

Hill found it hard to grasp what these twisted minds were thinking; he quickly put the matter out of his mind. As for the Mage who trapped Santos and became legendary, since he was so entangled with the Church, it was impossible for him to survive alone in Tevalon.

Becoming an enemy of the Undead, even Deities would fall, not to mention a Pseudo-Legend who hadn’t even grasped the edge of the true Law.

If Mage Santos knew, he would probably be quite happy.

Speaking of which, there really is a Grim Reaper in this world.

Every time Hill saw those divine names, he thought the hidden mastermind was quite bold.

The Three Gods of Justice became his enforcers for cleansing the world, and he even dared to create the Grim Reaper.

Although it was under the guise of guarding the Styx, the Divinity clearly stated death.

However, in this world, there were no Undead appearing, and Hill suspected that he simply couldn’t make it happen.

The domain of Necromancy is not something anyone can meddle with.

Hill felt that there must be a Grim Reaper in this world, if only for the Wall of the Faithless.

The teachings of any Deities would state that those without faith, after death, their souls would be hung upon the Wall of the Faithless, wailing as they are washed by the Water of the Styx, until they completely turned into the Undead fish of the Styx, never to be reborn as humans again.

But, if one devoutly believed in a Deity, their soul would enjoy three thousand years in the Divine Kingdom after death, and then they would enter the Styx to be reborn, starting a new life under the protection of the Deities once more.

As for those with a pantheon of beliefs, upon death they would naturally be reborn immediately, with no three thousand years of blissful days in the Divine Kingdom.

Although this was somewhat different from the legends in Ferun, it was largely similar.

Although every Deity’s doctrine sounded very moving, the Undead Tribe was entirely indifferent.

Hill could sense the peculiar seductiveness in these teachings, but with the firmness of his soul, such temptation couldn’t shake him at all.

Still, he could feel that peculiar sensation.

The Undead really were just looking without seeing. Their souls were still in their own homeland beyond who knows how many Crystal Walls, and with this level of allure, even breaking out of this world seemed difficult.

Hill was organizing various books in the Magic Tower, especially those stories that hinted at the outward Deities, which he arranged solemnly, storing the tale of each Deity on a bookshelf restively.

Once this world was completely cleansed, he felt that the Father of Elves, Coron, would be very interested in these chronicles of the Deities.

That one actually quite enjoyed spreading gossip and reading jokes.

These stories could make Coron laugh under the sea of stars for days and nights.

As long as there were any differences, Hill would carefully review those books. He believed there was definitely something wrong with the Goddess of Wealth, the biography of the Goddess of Gold Coins being far too grandiose.

A mastermind who dared to oppose the Three Gods of Justice would certainly not overlook the Goddess of Wealth who had been molested and humiliated by the Abyssal Demons for over a decade; that story was far more eye-catching than the tales of the Three Gods of Justice’s unwashed stinky socks of thousands of years.

The experience of the blonde beauty Valkin had always been a story worth gossiping about in the Stellar Realm, even across the Crystal Walls.

Though most of it served as a warning to friends, definitely not to have any dealings with Demons.

Without any dealings, how could there be such a white-washed, innocent Divinity that had stayed firm from start to finish in this world? Surely, the Goddess of Wealth must have seen it with her own eyes.

If someone really wanted to usurp the divinity of the Goddess of Wealth, there wouldn’t be just one Goddess of Gold Coins from start to finish.

One would also have to create a sufficiently unfortunate predecessor to become the next successor.

Usurpation has a process, unless one wishes to use the same Name of God as the predecessor.

It might be possible for other Deities, but no one would want to continue using the name Valkin.

Hill began to check one by one, which Deities had a good relationship with Valkin and had been present in this world from start to finish.

As for Valkin herself, she didn’t yet have the capability to accomplish such a formidable feat.

Moreover, if it were Valkin, Coron would have taken direct action to suppress her long ago; the Goddess of Wealth didn’t have the capital to trouble the Father of Elves.

This was a huge project!

In the end, Hill even began to think that the thoughts of the Undead Tribe were somewhat plausible; this was merely a playground.

And it wasn’t just the Ferun Pantheon.

The Egyptian Pharaoh Pantheon was also here! Even the World Tree Pantheon was present.

He disassembled the Divinity of these pantheons thoroughly, isolating those with similar meanings.

But these Deities were all under the same Law; no wonder they would cause a God War so frequently.

The more intense the Law, those Deities would find their own competitors across the whole world to battle to the death.

Especially the Deities of the Evil Faction.

They didn’t care if their actions might kill their own worshippers; worshippers could be found later, but those who competed with them for their possessions had to be eliminated first.

The most rapid changes in the history were among the Deities of the Evil Faction; those who lasted more than three thousand years were absolute powerhouses.

Hill pulled out a silver-gray satin cloth measuring 5 meters wide and 20 meters long and began to draw relational lines according to the different Laws.

Despite being a foolish method, only through this could he find a clue in the chaotic mess.

And Valkin, who had been present from the beginning to the end, could also lend quite a bit of help; she had many alliances, and most Deities allowed her to enter.

But some Deities, rather than welcoming Valkin’s currency system, would choose to let their worshippers live primitive lives bartering goods, maintaining the original state of their existence.
