Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 612: Chapter 410: Hill Confirms He Really Isn’t a Mage

Hill glanced at the sky, noting that dawn was about to break.

”The moment the first light of dawn appears, attack the Goddess of Winter,” he instructed Alice. ”Just one hit will do, it doesn’t matter if she dies or not.”

”There are no attack spells left in Qiuqiu,” Alice said somewhat embarrassedly. ”I think I used too many earlier, I got too excited. I’ll be more careful next time.”

”It’s okay, there’s the painting,” Hill pointed at the enormous painting hanging behind him. ”It will attack along with you.”

Generally speaking, to become a divine artifact, it must possess significant spirituality and the capacity to think independently.

However, most divine artifacts are not interested in communicating with the outside world.

But if someone they disapprove of dares to touch them, it usually only creates a disaster.

Hill’s holy relic painting was quite amiable; if Hill had any reasonable requests, it would comply.

This was probably because the divine power that created it was quite fond of Hill.

The Ring of Winter in Hill’s possession, however, was not so accommodating. Although it was polite to Hill, it required Hill’s own operation; like today, if he just told the painting it would attack on its own, that simply wouldn’t happen with the ring.

That would be a different price entirely.

As for the Supreme God Talisman, these single-function artifacts rarely have any flow of thought. Even if they possess spirituality, they show no signs of it, and since Hill never uses it, not even against evil devils, it has long been dissatisfied.

Alice nodded in agreement, she harbored some hostility towards the Goddess of Winter as well.

Possibly because Agleya also controlled part of Teraxil’s Ice Law and was actively trying to occupy it all.

If Teraxil couldn’t produce an Ice Deity before her success, then it would depend on whether Agleya would assign a Divine Subordinate later.

Alice, in fact, had already considered all the deities conflicting with Agleya’s divinity as enemies.

On the other hand, Hill, who had long been aware of their existence, didn’t see anything amiss.

However, what Hill found most perplexing was the nature of the relationship between Alice and Agleya, whether it was good or bad; they clearly fought every time they met and often argued even from a distance.

Not interfering with each other in serious matters was Hill’s only hope for them, but it seemed that wasn’t quite the case now.

Hill sighed lightly, deciding that his straightforward male thinking was best left aside; the relationships between women were too complex, whether mature or not.

Hill quietly waited; the Meteor Shower had ended, and the two below seemed to have resumed their close relationship, attacking Hill’s Defensive Magic Array once more.

But the Goddess of Winter, Ouna, was no longer close to the King of Storms, Los. Instead, she was hacking feebly from a distance of ten meters.

Hill felt she had finally realized that if she truly managed to snatch the Ring of Winter, Los would not likely hand the ring over to her.

While possessing only the Wind and Thunder Divinities, Los still chose to seize a part of the Goddess of Winter’s divinity, which Hill suspected to be something like cold wind.

If he had the Ring of Winter, which could control ice and snow, would Los not also snatch the Ice Divinity?

Los and his true form, Talos, were identical, both possessing endless greed.

Nothing could surpass the power he sought to control.

Los, however, was attacking earnestly, his hammer blazing with lightning, far more serious than before the Hunter was killed.

At least List felt a bit of pressure and checked the remaining Crystal Stones once more.

Perhaps before the Defensive Magic Array was shattered, these evil gods really thought Hill would step out to check.

After all, the body of Anbur lay at the edge of the Magic Array, and many would be tempted to check their trophy up close.

Unfortunately, Hill had long suspected that his enemies had infiltrated his array; there was no way he would foolishly walk into his own death.

To knowingly display one’s power despite danger is a folly of evil gods; a normal Mage wouldn’t bother.

Waiting several days for the dust to settle before stepping out of the Magic Tower for inspection was the Mage’s way of handling things.

However, if it were the Hunter, Hill didn’t think he would be easily defeated.

Although a normal Legendary Mage’s body wasn’t as strong as a Legendary Knight’s, it was still on par with a Sky Knight.

But without training in martial skills, a strong body was of no use.

Just like Adrian who used to complain about Mages being frail; in reality, he was much stronger than a normal knight.

The strength of an elemental body can be understood just by considering the Undead Tribe, who don’t differentiate professions when brawling.

Hill believed they had sent the Hunter after him, probably mistaking him for a regular Legendary Mage.

But now, Hill’s skin was so thick that even a Legendary Level weapon would not leave a mark if it just slashed at him. The Hunter, who clearly intended to assassinate Hill with his claws, would likely end up shattering several nails without any other result.

Hill slowly traced back the source of the information about the mastermind behind the scenes, which clearly came from the previous world, and they were unaware that Hill was a Magician.

The physical constitution of Magicians was inherently stronger than that of Mages, and a Hunter would be even more cautious around Magicians.

With his tendency to flee thousands of miles at the first sign of trouble, it was unlikely that he would risk venturing into a Defensive Magic Array.

Alice suddenly sat up straight; Hill glanced at the sky and, as expected, the night sky was already beginning to lighten.

Hill felt that Alice was getting closer to the sun and was extremely sensitive to the sunrise and sunset.

He gripped the amulet tightly and stared intently at Los below.

Alice looked up, took a similar amulet from around her neck with her mouth, and pressed it against the window with the tip of her claws.

She enjoyed the brisk feeling of swinging the sphere with her claws, not because she couldn’t manipulate it with spiritual power.

At the break of dawn, the crystal-clear Crystal Ball behind Alice smashed directly towards the Goddess of Winter.

The rapidly spinning Mithril Sphere smashed onto the top of her head almost instantaneously, and the Goddess of Winter screamed and quickly retreated.

Hill suppressed his urge to laugh and aimed the amulet at Los, who looked back in panic.

The Goddess of Winter still focused most of her defensive power on her face, not expecting Alice to target her forehead this time.

Los did react to Hill’s attack, but even when he fully employed the Thunder Shield and transformed himself into a giant of lightning, it was futile; the Supreme God Talisman was a probabilistic Divine Artifact. Once hit, no amount of defense would work.

Seeing Los being dragged underground while screaming, the Goddess of Winter, with a small part of her head missing, turned and quickly ran. Unfortunately, she was still paralyzed on the ground by a Holy Relic Painting that was lying in wait with a Strike Evil attack.

”Should we finish her off?” Alice’s Mithril Sphere danced in the air, and her eager look made Hill a bit worried.

If it were the Alice of the past, she definitely wouldn’t have thought of taking the opportunity to eliminate all enemies. During the time she was out with Merkel, she really changed a lot.

Hill sometimes understood why Merkel had confidently gone into seclusion this time; although Alice had become quite lazy under Hill’s care, it was evident that she had learned many tactics over the years and her heart had hardened.

Some men always have a problem with self-perception, even if they are a male Leopard, they cannot escape this split: when women are not strong enough, they want them to learn to be independent. Once women truly become powerful, they naturally retract the loving care they once showed.

What really made them tender were helpless and adorable women who knew nothing.

Even if that toughness was just a pretense of strength for him.

Hill smiled, ”For the sake of the Ring of Winter, let’s not make the Frost Maiden outside look too embarrassed.

The existence of Los has already significantly embarrassed her; let’s not be too harsh.”

Alice nodded, the amulet on her fingertip shimmering slightly. The Winter Maiden was also dragged underground, and by the time she managed to struggle out, the world should almost have reached an outcome.

”Sir, what about that corpse outside?” List asked softly.

Hill glanced over, where Anbur lay, early reduced to a mess by meteorites burning with flames. If it weren’t for the fact that her surroundings were engulfed in seawater even in her demise, that place would have completely burnt to ashes long ago.

”What about that fake leopard?” Alice asked.

”That’s the spoils of the Murderous Vine; he has already gone underneath the Magic Tower to find a place to absorb.” List bent down to answer.

”Leave it alone, give a chance to the wild beasts outside,” Hill replied indifferently, ”since it’s already cooked.

Even if there are remains, those big trees can absorb them as well.”

He raised his hand, summoning a breeze, sending a large number of Sunflower seeds over, and used much of his strength to invoke Nature’s Blessing.

Although the nearby flowers and trees defied natural laws, instantly growing in the icy wilderness with lush green leaves and bright flowers.

But the Sea God, despite being a False God, emitted Divine Power sufficient to ensure these plants no longer fear the cold.

Hill planted some Thorn bushes there, making it impossible to see anything from the Magic Tower, no matter what happens.

He had no intention of handling Anbur’s body, as what was destroyed was just an incarnation of the Law; the Law itself was fine. If the other party was powerful enough, it could easily condense an almost identical entity again.

Therefore, Hill would rather let the body be eaten by wild beasts than consider taking it back for research.

Alice relaxed and lay down on the sofa, feeling she had done very well today and deserved to reward herself with some relaxation.

Hill turned to List and said, ”No wonder grandfather always felt I wasn’t a real Alchemist; I indeed have a big difference from Mages.

List couldn’t help but laugh.

The adventurous spirit of Adrian was stronger than Hill’s, and if Fran were here, he definitely wouldn’t allow himself to abandon a deity’s body, even if there were repercussions, he would prefer to research it.

Hill was a spoiled child; he simply did not want to utilize the body for research.
