Surviving The Fourth Calamity

Chapter 629: Chapter 427: Father’s Love is as Heavy as a Mountain

Alice gently tugged at her own French-braided long hair, bit her lip, and then suddenly raised her head and asked, ”Can I start calling you Hill’s Dad from now on?”

Hill held back a sigh and straightforwardly nodded, ”Of course, you’ve always been my eldest daughter!

But there’s no need to change so deliberately.

Even if you were to call me by my name directly, it’s okay. Look at those Divine Children, don’t they all call the Deities by their names! However you want to call me, Alice, is fine.”

Alice blinked gently, her long eyelashes fluttering, ”But I just want to call you Hill’s Dad!”

She picked up the Mithril Sphere from the sofa, a translucent crystal ball rotating in her delicate hands, and murmured softly, ”Hill’s Dad~”

Hill smiled tenderly at her, allowing Alice to slowly ease her chaotic emotions.

The first time Alice had called him Hill’s Dad was after she came out from the Monster Nation.

Although she had followed her heart’s desire and pursued her love, she hadn’t planned on tying Hill and the Monster Nation into a closer relationship.

Even with the jealousy and envy between her and Agleya, she never thought of asking Hill to visit her in the Monster Nation.

Over the years, she had actually learned some political skills and was no longer the naive and foolish cat who shouted, ’Everything Hill gives me, I’ll give to you.’

Hill quietly watched Alice, who was looking down and playing with the ball. Actually, this was also not bad.

In the future, she could follow him around and see more of the ups and downs of other worlds, the warmth and coldness of human relations; perhaps she could carve out her own path.

”Alice, which path do you plan to choose?” Hill suddenly remembered that now that Alice had taken human form, she could learn Mage spells or Martial Skills.

As she was now, she was more like a Magician with fewer and simpler spells, even if she knew Healing Spells, it was still too few.

Hill directly took out a thick Magic Book, which was the summary of 0 to Ninth Ring spells he had slowly compiled over time.

He had learned quite a bit himself.

Actually, the so-called source of magic on the Ferun Great Land is the center of the world originating from the Law Line.

It’s just that the Goddess of Magic had woven these Law Lines into a Weave, allowing Mages from Ferun to download spells directly from the Weave and cast them directly.

However, they can only cast it once and must download it again for the next use.

If one is in Ferun, even if they are recognized as Archmages like Boen, which is so-called 3-ring Mages, decades of dedication to magic study might allow them to reach the 8th ring, equivalent to the Mage Level.

But they cannot touch the original source of magic. A Mage with talents like Adrian might never reach the 20th Level, and learning Ninth Ring spells could be very difficult.

Both magical heritages have their advantages, but Hill certainly prefers the kind found in Teraxil.

However, even though Ferunryel also uses Ninth Ring spells, it requires Mages to learn the Magic Models themselves.

Although these models become more complex at higher levels, once learned, they can be used.

The Magic Book in Hill’s hands was the summary of all magic models he had compiled tirelessly over several months, and he looked at Alice with expectant eyes, ”How about picking some spells to learn, Alice? It’s just memorizing some spell models, quite easy.

If you get it wrong or use it wrong, don’t worry, at most it causes some disturbance of spiritual power, a minor problem I can easily solve.”

Alice suddenly looked up, staring blankly at Hill, and the Mithril Sphere in her hand ’thudded’ to the floor.

”Hill’s Dad~ no... no need! The Mithril Sphere is really useful!” Alice’s eyes were full of panic as if she had heard something terrifying.

Hill was a bit puzzled, ”You’re already considered a Ninth Ring Mage! You can’t just have those few spells, right?”

Alice’s eyes widened, ”When I was a cat, it worked, and it works as a person too!”

Hill hesitated for a moment but insisted, ”No, Alice, in the past you could get by because no one would think of a cat as an enemy, but it’s different with a human form!

Who would think that a human is a Spirit of Nature?

If something happens to you, I’ll worry, a lot.

I’ll mark the Light Spells and Illusion Spells for you, it’s enough to learn just 20 kinds!

Alice, you’re so smart, it shouldn’t be a problem!”

Tears welled up in Alice’s big eyes, ”I... I’m very dumb, I can’t remember so much!”

She looked fearfully at the book in Hill’s hand, ”All at once is too much, I will go crazy!”

Hill thought for a moment and then suggested, ”Then I’ll first copy a few lower-level Light Series Spells for you.

But even if you don’t study them, you must know a bit about other spells! Otherwise, if you come across a magical enemy, how will you manage if you can’t even tell what they’re using?”

Alice pressed her lips tightly together and was unable to speak for a long time. She suddenly felt that, in Hill’s eyes, humans are not as good as cats.

But she really didn’t know how to stop Hill from being a dedicated father.

”Sir,” List’s arrival saved Alice, ”You can’t switch from a doting old dad to a strict father expecting great achievements overnight. Miss Alice has just taken human form and doesn’t understand a lot of the basics.

Start with level 0 spells! Miss Alice needs to spend most of her time learning life skills.”

Hill paused for a moment before slowly putting down the book in his hand, ”Ah! Right, those things need to be learned first, Alice can read but hasn’t really learned how to write yet!”

The thing about writing, knowing how to write and actually writing are two different matters.

He also needs to start teaching her from the most basic magic runes! Rushing isn’t good, he also needs to think about how to tutor a magician who is behind in certain subjects.

Watching Hill deep in thought, Alice hugged her mithril sphere tighter, this time, her panic was completely different from before.

”Miss Alice,” Marsha appeared as well, ”The lower floor has been prepared; do you want to see if it’s to your liking? If there’s anything you need, I can change it.”

”Ah!” Hill suddenly remembered and pulled out a space ring, transferring various resources from the pendant’s warehouse.

Gold and silver jewelry, elemental crystals, and various potions and food, plus materials from all different systems.

Especially those special fabric weaves and lightweight silk, he himself had no interest in using such flashy fabrics for clothing, but Alice would probably like them.

After Hill filled the large space ring, he handed it to Alice, ”The things in here should be enough for your short-term use, there’s also a bit of money, so if you find something you like, go buy it.”

Alice raised her left hand, ”I have one! The ring Hill’s Dad gave me before can hold a lot. When I left Teraxil, I packed it with a lot of stuff, I even took away half of Merkel’s warehouse!”

Hill chuckled dismissively, ”That must be the treasury of the Monster Nation, right? What good things could they have!

Besides, these are just for temporary use; there’s nothing really good.

Once you’ve chosen your future direction, I’ll tailor-make the appropriate weapons and gear for you.”

Even Saral’s aren’t good enough; the Monster Nation’s are probably not even worth considering, at best just some ordinary loot plundered from the Dwarves.

”Qiuqiu~” Alice lifted her beloved mithril sphere, ”I want to keep using this!”

”I’m not asking you to change weapons, how can you only use one kind!” Hill said unwaveringly, ”In the past, I only let you use the mithril sphere because there weren’t many things your cat paws could utilize. Plus, your two spells weren’t really worth swapping weapons for.

We’re not in a rush now; once you’ve chosen your magical system, I’ll make other weapons to match your new spells.”

”Hill’s Dad! I’ll go take a look at my room,” Alice quickly stood up and followed Marsha, swaying towards the floating stairway, ”I still need to stay for a while!”

As Hill watched Alice enter the floating stairway, List couldn’t help but laugh, ”Sir, aren’t you a bit too eager? Miss Alice’s strength is already quite formidable.

Learning official spells is too difficult for her.”

List swallowed the words both he and Hill knew all too well: Changing from a cat into a human doesn’t necessarily mean an increase in intelligence!

”She can’t afford to be lost in idle thoughts right now,” Hill nodded in satisfaction, ”She’s grown up; it’s about time she learns what study pressure is.”

”Sir, Miss Alice may not be quite suited for the mage’s path,” List said honestly, ”I can’t imagine what it would look like for her to learn spell theory.

No matter which world’s mage you take, they all need to learn this theoretical knowledge!

You can’t possibly still expect Miss Alice to learn alchemy, can you?”

”Let her try learning first, and if she really can’t get it and starts crying, then we can consider those magic-martial combined professions,” Hill leaned back on the sofa, smiling with his eyes closed, ”The biggest advantage of this world is the variety of professions, even if they’re all incomplete versions.

The Undead Tribe sent so many books! They cover everything.

Let Alice read more and if there’s a profession whose skills she picks up instantly, we’ll find a way to look for them later.

However, we’ll wait until she completely despairs of becoming a mage before doing that. What if she’s one of those rare talents specially suited for certain spells?

I remember some people don’t need to study at all; they can memorize spell models that fit them with just one glance.”

List glanced at Hill, thinking that he must be dreaming.

When Hill himself was learning new Earth System spells, sixth-ring spells took him over a dozen hours, and those Earth Series Runes were all engraves in his Mental Sea.

Not to mention Alice, who only knew a few Holy Spells; her so-called Talented Spells in the Ferun Great Land only seem to qualify as spell-like abilities.

List had already decided to look for suitable Holy Martial Skills. As a Spirit of Nature, Alice would probably still prefer to battle evil, but she would also need some defensive and counterattack methods.

When others try to harm her, they won’t care if she’s battling evil or not. No matter the world, learning to protect oneself is the most crucial thing.

Hill watched List leave in a hurry and couldn’t help but smirk, what if Alice had that kind of luck?

Speaking of luck, Alice isn’t much less fortunate than he is!

The only thing is, luck doesn’t affect personal choices.
