Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1590: Chapter 801: About Movies, About People_2

”But you’re not just investing in him, you’re giving him a lot of help, those actors, and people from all walks of life.” Liu Yun lately has been more actively participating in some discussions. Previously, she was mainly silent, but it seems that recently, taking over Zheng Xiaojue’s role in handling some of Zhou Yun’s specific agent work has given her more to think about. ”Sister Xiao Yun, these are things you’ve done for him using your connections and personal favors, not something that can be measured with money.”

”Xiaoyun, sometimes we don’t need to make such comparisons, because some things to me are just a matter of a phone call. But for someone like Liu Qidong who doesn’t know those actors, he might try all he can but still can’t reach them. You know, these days many actors are very well-protected by their teams, and many unknown directors can’t even get a meeting with an actor.” Zhou Yun said, ”What I’m saying is not an exaggeration, you know, like Gu Huaichun, if I didn’t make a call on his behalf, when Gu Huaichun’s agent sees Liu Qidong’s name, they would directly reject him.”

”Yeah, that’s true.” Liu Yun nodded. ”I heard Gu Huaichun has taken a role in Yuehai’s self-produced drama again, a fantasy-themed one.”

Zhou Yun: ”It’s not surprising Yuehai would do that, they need Gu Huaichun to act in one of their big productions every year to make money.”

Liu Yun: ”Sister Xiao Yun, if we invite Gu Huaichun to cameo in a new director’s work, would their company agree?”

”They will.” Zhou Yun nodded, ”I’m the producer, they would have to give some face, and they can’t completely disregard Gu Huaichun’s own wishes.”

Zhou Yun started making calls in the car.

The first person she contacted was Gu Huaichun.

”I’ve found a script that I really like. The script is great, and I’m planning to produce it myself. There’s a role in it, not the lead, but I’d like to invite you to play it. See if you have time.” Zhou Yun said, ”The expected shooting dates are from August to October next year, and your role could be filmed in about a week. Should I send you the script to take a look?”

Gu Huaichun asked, ”Is it a film?”

”Yes, a film.” Zhou Yun said, ”What do you think?”

Gu Huaichun said, ”Sure, send it to me. I’ll take a look at the script first. Who’s the director?”

”A newcomer.” Zhou Yun said, ”Liu Qidong, you probably haven’t heard of him, hasn’t independently directed a film before.”

”Impressive, another new director discovered by you.” Gu Huaichun smiled.

”Not discovered by me, but he heard about my interest and was introduced proactively.” Zhou Yun said, ”I’ve told you before to go and check out projects yourself, and when you find something suitable, take the initiative. With your current standing, you absolutely have the power to find better scripts to work on.”

Gu Huaichun: ”It’s not that simple. Firstly, my so-called standing isn’t as high as you think. Secondly, I don’t even have the autonomy to decide which projects to accept. Any role I want, I have to negotiate with the company. If I let them know I want to produce, they would be even more wary of me running away.”

Zhou Yun: ”If you lay everything out candidly, it would actually save trouble, I really think so. Whatever the case, could they really put you on ice? You’re very popular, with a lot of fans, it’s the best time to negotiate with the company.”

”Alright, alright, stop it, let’s not get tangled up in this topic again.” Gu Huaichun said, ”Let’s leave it at that, send me the script, I’ll look it over, and if there’s no issue, I’ll take it. I’ll handle things with the company, since you’re producing, I should support you.”

”Alright then, I’ll wait for your message, and if you’re not happy with it, let me know earlier so I can find someone else.”

”Turns out you have backups.” Gu Huaichun grumbled.

Zhou Yun: ”You’re my first choice, but if you’re not willing, I can’t exactly beg you to act.”

Gu Huaichun laughed heartily.

”Got it.”

Zhou Yun hung up the phone and sent the script to Gu Huaichun’s email, then called the second person.

”Hello, Xiao Jing.” The second person Zhou Yun contacted was Wang Jing.

Wang Jing asked in surprise, ”Sister Xiao Yun, you were looking for me?”

”Yes, I want to ask you to do a cameo for a film, is that okay?” Zhou Yun said, ”I’ve picked out a script and plan to produce it myself, but the director is new, and the lead will also be an unknown, so I need to invite some friends to help by playing a role.”

As soon as Wang Jing heard this, he immediately said, ”Sure, no problem, just let me know in advance when you need me to come over.”

”Great, thanks, Xiao Jing.”

”But, Sister Xiao Yun, what’s the story about? Why does the protagonist have to be a newcomer?” Wang Jing asked, puzzled.

”The protagonist of the story is a young guy.” Zhou Yun explained.

”Sister Xiao Yun, you’re not starring in it?”

”There’s no role suitable for me, but I’ll also be doing a cameo role.” Zhou Yun said.

Wang Jing: ”I see, alright, let me know when shooting starts, I’ll be ready.”

These two people were the most reliable ones Zhou Yun could invite.

Other people were uncertain.

Zhou Yun didn’t know how many more she could eventually invite, but she had thought it through very clearly that no matter what, she couldn’t have people help for free, and the agreed pay, every cent, had to be given.
