Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1565: Chapter 794

Zhou Yun also didn’t know why she agreed to an interview invitation from a paparazzo.

This was indeed unusual, and she knew it herself.

But maybe it was in that moment, the stark difference in status between her and Lu Ming, and the perplexed expression Lu Ming showed after she spoke, that made a voice in her mind remind her to be a bit kinder.

If others had better options, they definitely wouldn’t want to do such a reviled job.

Perhaps that’s why she agreed.

Zhou Yun also didn’t know what Lu Ming would prepare. Reflecting on this afterward, she realized that for someone with no interview experience, you couldn’t expect him to conduct a great interview. It’s probably a waste of time. However, since she’d already spoken, Zhou Yun wouldn’t go back on her word. Just as she told Sister Lan, if it fails, it fails.

But even though she comforted herself like this, Zhou Yun still held a sliver of expectation. Maybe there’d be a surprise.

The ad shoot wasn’t in Beijing but in Zhejiang, by the seaside.

When Zhou Yun flew over, she first confirmed the entire ad’s theme and style with the director and photographer, then did a test shoot.

In the evening, the brand invited everyone to dinner at a high-class restaurant.

Zhou Yun initially wanted to decline. But Zhou Lan knocked on her door, saying it’d be best if she attended tonight.

She was stunned and asked, ”Isn’t this brand newly signed?”

Zhou Lan said, ”It’s not about the brand. Mainly, this shoot’s photographer is very reputable. They invited Roger Dale, who’s won the Oscar for Best Cinematography three times. Don’t you want to meet him?”

Zhou Yun asked, ”The photographer who talked with me this afternoon wasn’t Roger Dale.”

”The person onsite this afternoon was just Roger Dale’s assistant, he just arrived at the hotel.” Zhou Lan explained, ”He’ll be shooting tomorrow.”

Zhou Yun nodded.

”Ok, let me tidy up, I’ll go with you.”

Zhou Lan stayed in Zhou Yun’s room, waiting for her to freshen up and apply makeup.

As she took out her phone to handle some pending work messages, Zhou Yun’s voice came from the bathroom.

”Sister Lan, what about Lin Zhiping now that you’re coming with me?”

Zhou Lan: ”What do you mean what about Lin Zhiping?”

”Aren’t you in contact with him? We won’t be back until tomorrow.”

”So what? Do you think we see each other every day? No way, I’m busy, he’s busy, neither of us is just idle.” Zhou Lan said, ”Why are you so focused on me and Lin Zhiping? You eager for me to get married or something?”

”I’m not eager for you to marry, I just fear you’re not proactive enough.” Zhou Yun said, ”Whether you marry or not is your own choice, but you finally met someone you like, yet you’re always passive in relationships, waiting for someone to push you forward. Of course I need to urge you more, so you don’t miss out due to hesitation.”

Zhou Yun’s words cast a shadow on Zhou Lan’s heart.

She’d never considered this issue, not because she wasn’t aware, but because she’d always avoided it.

In fact, in matters of the heart, she truly was passive as Zhou Yun described.

Moreover, as she aged, her mentality became more passive.

”Nonsense, when have I been passive.” Zhou Lan firmly denied, ”If I were passive, I wouldn’t be socializing with those big-wigs at events, cultivating these connections.”

Zhou Yun’s voice continued from the bathroom.

”That’s different, you’re proactive at work but not necessarily in relationships. You waited for that photographer to make the first move, but in the end, when you couldn’t wait any longer, you did, and found you two weren’t suited for each other? Don’t repeat that mistake.”

”Ah, I was just getting to know him. If it’s not suitable, so be it.”

”See, you’re always like this.” Zhou Yun finished washing her face, came out, wiped the water off her face, sat down, opened her makeup bag, and started applying makeup, all while critiquing Zhou Lan, ”Even when you think someone is suitable and you clearly like them, you always think if it’s not right, just let it be. Why act that way? Such a retreating attitude will easily make others feel you’re not serious.”

Zhou Lan rolled her eyes at Zhou Yun, saying, ”Why are you so annoying now?”

Zhou Yun laughed.

”Did I hit the mark?”

Zhou Lan: ”You’re so bothersome.”

”Don’t be bothered, I just want to push you a bit.” Zhou Yun put down the half-drawn eyeliner, turned to face Zhou Lan seriously, and said, ”Don’t be afraid of getting hurt, really, Sister Lan, even if you do get hurt, there’s a sea of work to distract you. But if you miss someone you might really like, or even could be with for a lifetime, that’d be such a pity.”

Zhou Lan: ”It’s not like I’m not in contact.”

”Agreeing to see a movie is one form of contact, proactively messaging him to say you’re in Zhejiang is another form.” Zhou Yun said, ”A person who never initiates messaging me, I would never believe he’s interested in me.”

Zhou Lan: ”...”

Zhou Yun finished her makeup, went back to the bathroom to fix her hair.

Zhou Lan hesitated for a moment, picked up her phone, found the chat with Lin Zhiping, and clicked in.

Their conversation was still from last night.

Lin Zhiping asked if she was free that night for dinner.

She said she had work and wasn’t in Beijing.

Lin Zhiping then asked when she’d be back and suggested rescheduling.

She said it’d be a few days.

Without giving a precise date.

Zhou Yun’s words echoed like a haunting tune in her mind.

Zhou Lan typed a message: I’ll return to Beijing tomorrow.

Sent.

After sending, Zhou Lan acted as if afraid to see Lin Zhiping’s reply, immediately switched off her phone, refusing to look.

Zhou Yun finished her hair, came out, saying, ”I’m ready, let’s go.”

Zhou Lan quickly nodded, eager to find something to do, ”Let’s go.”

The brand had arranged transport.

Once seated in the car, Zhou Lan originally wanted to discuss some matters with Zhou Yun, but Zhou Yun immediately began a phone call with Song Chi, leaving her to grab her own phone.

Replying to messages, one by one.

No reply from Lin Zhiping yet.

Zhou Lan deliberately avoided thinking about it, but deep down felt a bit disappointed.

Has he lost interest in her?

Or as Zhou Yun said, was her previous attitude too detached, passive, causing Lin Zhiping to retreat?
