Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1560: Chapter 792

”Thanks for making the trip so late at night,” Zhou Yun said.

Cao Jun laughed and said, ”It’s no trouble. Want me to take you straight home?”

Zhou Yun nodded and said, ”Just go straight back, that’s fine.”

Cao Jun said okay.

They drove back along the way they came.

Who would’ve thought that even at this hour, the road back would still be a bit jammed.

”Why’s the traffic so bad today?” Zhou Yun asked.

Cao Jun said, ”Who knows.”

It had been a long time since Zhou Yun last saw Cao Jun.

All this time, he’d been in Beijing helping the studio train a security team of their own.

This was mainly because of Zhou Yun’s needs.

After running into danger several times, Zhou Yun and Zhou Lan couldn’t help becoming wary.

Zhou Yun asked, ”Brother Cao, you’ve worked hard these days. I heard you’ve taken on a few people and are training them.”

Cao Jun said, ”It just so happens you can use them on this trip to Australia. You’ve run into some dangerous situations on several of your overseas trips. Even though I’m not entirely satisfied with their current level of training, we’ll still put them into use first. I’ll lead the team personally.”

Zhou Yun smiled, nodded, and said, ”Thank you.”

According to Zhou Lan’s plan, for the first three years, the studio would give Cao Jun three million a year in funding to build a team responsible for Zhou Yun’s security.

If Zhou Yun wasn’t going abroad, they could be reassigned to help other artists.

On top of that three million, Cao Jun himself could now earn an annual salary of nearly a million.

On the market, that counted as a very high price.

But Zhou Lan and Zhou Yun were determined to do it this way.

Zhou Lan said to him, ”Cao Jun, you, me, Xiaoju—the three of us were the first ones to follow Xiao Yun. We’re Xiao Yun’s most solid and most trustworthy team. Xiao Yun has always said, if she doesn’t make money, that’s that, but if she does, she definitely won’t shortchange us. Now that I’ve started my own studio and separated from Chengqian, I feel the same way. I trust you, but it’s hard for me to trust other people. As for Xiao Yun’s travel safety, aside from handing it over to you, I wouldn’t feel at ease with anyone else. You know what I mean?”

Cao Jun immediately replied, ”Don’t worry, I understand.”

Zhou Lan went on, ”I don’t want to sell you dreams or anything, but this studio of ours is only going to grow bigger. Of course, even if it doesn’t work out in the end, Xiao Yun herself will still need this team. Right now, our security on each trip is handled by the event organizer or the production company. Honestly, that’s really unsettling, especially overseas—without our own people, if something happens, apart from calling the police, you can’t do anything. And not every call to the police is effective. We really need you. So we’re giving you a base salary of eight hundred thousand, and on top of that you’ll get a bonus at the end of every year.”

Cao Jun had never imagined that one day he’d be earning this kind of income.

He’d come out of the army.

He had skills, but in peacetime like this, there weren’t many places he could put them to use.

He’d joined Chengqian in the first place because the pay for working for artists was much higher than being an auxiliary police officer or a security guard.

Honestly, when Cao Jun was first assigned to Zhou Yun as her driver, he never imagined that one day this little girl would reach where she is now.

Nor had he imagined that in just a few short years, his annual income would break a million.

...

The next day, Zhou Yun had lunch with Director Kang Xin.

Kang Xin was still full of energy and in an excellent mood.

”I just finished writing the script for a project I’ve been wanting to shoot for a long time,” Kang Xin said. ”Originally there was a role I wanted to ask you to play, but after thinking it over, I changed her into a younger girl. It works a bit better in this show.”

Zhou Yun nodded and said, ”It’s fine. However it works best for the show, that’s how it should be.”

This past year, Kang Xin hadn’t taken a break at all. First he did the post-production editing for One Day, and after that he directed a main-melody TV drama about rural poverty alleviation. Then he kept on writing scripts, and besides that, he also served as executive producer for two web dramas, basically backing new directors.

Zhou Yun truly admired Kang Xin. He was already at such an age that ”highly respected” would be an understatement, and even so, his creative energy was still astonishing!

It’s undeniable that a person’s creative power tends to decline with age; only a very few people can escape that rule.

Director Kang Xin was clearly one of them.
