Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1575: Chapter 798: Together in the Frame (2)

”Yeah, the key is to open up the channels; you have so many films to sell.” Zhou Yun said, ”Wasn’t there a ’Daughter Will Not Leave the Hall’ with pretty good reviews before?”

Song Chi: ”’Daughter Will Not Leave the Hall’ has only been sold to Japan and a few Southeast Asian countries so far; it’s not getting traction elsewhere. On the other hand, ’Balcony,’ I never thought this film could make much money, but surprisingly, over thirty countries bought their distribution rights, sold really well. Of course, overall all my projects are profitable, no one lost money, just a matter of how much profit. Our company’s own copyright projects are increasing, the financial pressure is not as intense, and each year, collecting copyright royalties from these projects is quite a substantial income.”

”Yeah.” Zhou Yun said, ”’Mother’ truly achieves this, it will have a lasting presence.”

”Exactly.” Song Chi smiled, ”Sister Hongyu acted really well in this drama, but unfortunately didn’t win any influential awards. I thought this drama would at least help Sister Hongyu bring home a Best Actress award.”

”Sister Hongyu’s status in the worldly society is very high, she has won many awards; her acting skills are universally acknowledged, so it might have been a ’cold reception’.” Zhou Yun now gradually understands this more; she’s facing a similar predicament herself.

Every performance she gives is generally praised as well-acted, but indeed, Zhou Yun has to admit, the evaluations of her are not as high, not as positive as before.

It’s not an issue with her acting; it’s that people have become accustomed to her ’goodness’.

Precisely because they are accustomed to her ’goodness’, unless she performs even better than before, her ’goodness’ in their eyes is merely ’normal performance’.

Same with Zhang Hongyu.

Unless she delivers a performance surpassing her past career, her ’goodness’ is merely ’normal performance’.

”What about ’Jiangyun Platform’?” Zhou Yun asked, ”Sister Lan told me this movie might be released in the Spring Festival season?”

”Yes.” Song Chi said, ”We’re striving for it; the post-production of the movie is completed. I’ve already seen the finished piece, and the effects are beyond my expectations, really good. I’ve already held an internal screening, invited some familiar international film distributors, and they are generally interested and have started discussing prices.”

Zhou Yun: ”This kind of disaster film has a market globally; surely it’ll sell well. But domestically, we haven’t produced a good disaster film yet. Hope it can take on this big task.”

Song Chi nodded, ”Not sure if it can take on the big task, but it can definitely start well. I’m very satisfied with the results, not just saying because I starred in it.”

Zhou Yun nodded, ”Then it must be great.”

Whether a film is good or not, they have a sense of it. Many times, they are just constrained by various reasons, can’t say it, or tend to downplay it.

Song Chi is genuinely proud of the film he made.

”Don’t push yourself too hard.” Zhou Yun gently leaned her head on Song Chi’s shoulder, ”I’ve started to consciously slow down my film-taking pace, you shouldn’t always be joining film sets.”

Song Chi was stunned.

”Now your company has passed the initial stage where it relied solely on you to support it. You should also pay attention to rest.”

Song Chi embraced Zhou Yun’s waist and said, ”Alright, I’ll listen to you.”

For both of them, being top-tier celebrities domestically yet working so intensively is quite rare.

At this level, regardless of working a lot or not, it hardly affects your income – commercial deals, endorsements, shares, these bring in major income, not requiring much of their time.

Of course, on top of that, both Zhou Yun and Song Chi have high film salaries, which is also substantial income, but even if they shoot fewer films, it doesn’t impact them much.

Yet, both shot many films in the past two years for their own reasons.

It’s time for ticket checks.

They were recognized by people at the high-speed rail station; for a moment, many crowded over to witness them, and phones were pulled out for filming.

Zhou Yun and Song Chi were guarded by their assistants, smiling as they headed to the ticket gate.

”Song Chi, Zhou Yun, it’s so rare to see you two together in the same frame,” said a young woman.
