Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1579: Chapter 799: Moments of Filming

Lew Yuan has been hosting for a long time.

He has hosted over a hundred shows, and almost everyone across China knows him.

But even at this point, he often feels anxious.

In this field, you’re either extremely confident or constantly anxious and worried that you’re not good enough.

Lew Yuan has a bit of both; he is both confident and anxious.

Each time he receives praise, he still feels a bit embarrassed. Of course, he also feels happy and proud at the same time. Lew Yuan hasn’t become indifferent to others’ encouragement as he gained experience — those who are genuinely worried tend to always care about whether they’ve truly done well.

Zhou Yun’s words touched him deeply.

”Xiao Yun really warmed my heart.” Lew Yuan clasped his hands together. ”Thank you for the encouragement, Xiao Yun.”

Zhou Yun smiled.

”Xiao Yun, when will you finish filming ’Killing Song’?” Lew Yuan suddenly asked.

”It should be around March next year. I signed for 100 days of shooting, but the specific timeline still depends on the on-site shooting situation,” Zhou Yun said. ”What’s up, Brother Lew?”

Lew Yuan said, ”I have a friend, he’s a new director who got some funding for his project at a film festival, but the funds aren’t quite enough. I heard from your agent Zhou Lan that you have ideas about supporting some new directors’ work, so I wanted to arrange a time to see if you could meet him and talk about his project. Although I’m recommending him based on friendship, I’ve read his script, and while I’ve never made a film, I’ve seen quite a few as a viewer. I find it to be a very exciting story.”

Zhou Yun immediately nodded and said, ”Of course, we can. But isn’t he supposed to be abroad in the next couple of days?”

”He’s in the country.”

”If he’s here, let’s find some time in the next couple of days to meet. No need to wait until I’m done shooting next year to meet, that would be too long. Since I’m not leaving until the tenth, let’s meet in the next few days and chat.” Zhou Yun replied quickly. ”I really have wanted to find some good scripts to invest in and support new directors. But, as you know, after the ’Above the Dust’ incident, I’ve become wary of trusting people easily.”

Lew Yuan: ”I understand.”

”So, if it’s introduced by someone I know, I can feel a bit more secure. I feel like I have a trust issue, like once bitten by a snake, twice shy. I hope I can slowly adjust this.” Zhou Yun sighed softly.

”We will encounter some not-so-kind people, but don’t let them change our perspective of the world,” Lew Yuan said earnestly. ”When I was young, I got swindled too, became paranoid, and thought everyone wanted to swindle me. But later, I realized that mindset wasn’t right. It completely affected my normal interactions and my mood. If one day you find you can’t trust anyone anymore, you’ll find that feeling particularly uncomfortable.”

Zhou Yun nodded and said, ”Yes, Brother Lew, I know you’re absolutely right. But even though I understand the principles, it’s hard to follow through; perhaps the influence can only be resolved over time.”

After dinner, on the way back, Lew Yuan said he’d have his friend send the script to her email once he’s back.

Zhou Yun gave Lew Yuan her email.

When they arrived at the hotel, the script had already been sent to her inbox.

Song Chi had a couple of phone calls to make, so Zhou Yun read the script summary alone in her room.

The script was titled ’Child of Prophecy.’

The most interesting aspect of the protagonist, Wu Liqun, is that he differs from protagonists of similar genres.

Acquires a superpower and starts saving the world—a story format that’s quite common. However, Wu Liqun is not a child or teenager immaturely gaining superpowers, nor a frustrated middle-aged person needing superpowers to change his life.

The beginning of the script keeps emphasizing his ordinary nature, his close and wonderful relationships with colleagues and family. Hence, he’s a protagonist without inner trauma or childhood shadows.

So, whenever he gains unusual benefits not following the norms of life, before and after acquiring foreknowledge, he fears them.
