Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1566: Chapter 795: The New Movie

Roger Dale is a very witty and humorous person.

He doesn’t appear arrogant—of course, maybe he’s just really good at hiding it.

In any case, as the meal came to an end, everyone was in high spirits.

Everyone was filled with anticipation for the shooting the next day.

Roger Dale told Zhou Yun, ”After I watched ’Life,’ I really wanted to collaborate with you on a film.”

Zhou Yun looked at Roger Dale in surprise, ”Really? Thank you.”

”In that movie, you showcase a pure, nostalgic beauty, like a fairy,” Roger Dale said, ”I really liked that film.”

”Thank you.”

”It’s a pity that movie wasn’t promoted well, otherwise your performance in it deserved an Oscar nomination for Best Actress.”

”For foreign films like ’Life,’ especially for us Asian actors, it’s very difficult to get an Oscar nomination for acting awards,” Zhou Yun said, ”I don’t have particularly high hopes for that.”

Roger Dale said, ”The tide has changed over the past few years, especially in the last two years. More and more Asian actors are getting recognition and becoming visible in mainstream awards. I often hear people discussing you at events and parties. Everyone knows you now; you should seize this opportunity and push yourself further.”

Zhou Yun didn’t expect Roger Dale to say these things to her.

Zhou Yun said thank you. This feeling is indeed strange. How to put it? These past two years, she’s met many people, and many of them would say, you need to work hard, keep pushing while you’re at your best.

She’s not yet out of ”this time,” but now these few years have been defined by others as ”the best time.”

This feeling is actually a bit strange.

But she doesn’t know who to talk to about this strangeness.

This involves an actress’s career path, golden periods, and non-golden periods. She doesn’t like it, but objectively it exists. Unless you’re famous, once you pass thirty, forty, you’re pretty much phased out by the market, and can only play motherly roles.

The golden period for actresses really is before thirty; that’s a fact—if you haven’t achieved enough fame or reached enough heights before that time, it’s very hard to get good opportunities later. The market will have many roles for fifty-something male protagonists, far more than the same-age female roles—this inevitably leads to a bad result where there are no roles to play.

Zhou Yun doesn’t want to seem too sensitive about this, or to speak too much on it; it’s a market issue, also a choice issue. Even if many women call for change, it’s not as effective as having a legitimate film focusing on a forty-year-old woman’s perspective be a hit; market is profit-driven.

So, she really doesn’t want to define these years as her best years.

She feels that she is still so young, just at the beginning, and there is so much more time to reach a higher peak.

But that’s just a mental block.

The people saying these things to her are simply stating an objective fact.

The commercial shoot went smoothly, finishing half an hour early.

Zhou Yun bid farewell to the production team and returned to Beijing.

After landing, Zhou Yun realized that Beijing had already started snowing.

The white snow fell leisurely in the night sky, through the car window it looked just like a dream.

Zhou Lan parted ways with her at the airport as someone had come to pick her up.

Although Zhou Lan didn’t say who it was, Zhou Yun knew it must have been Lin Zhiping.

Actually, on the way back after dinner last night, Zhou Yun had noticed a clue.

When Zhou Lan looked at her phone, she suddenly sat up straight, as though receiving a long-awaited reply, and let out a surprised ”Hmm!”

When Zhou Yun asked what was wrong, Zhou Lan just shook her head and said it was nothing.

But Zhou Yun saw it clearly, there was already a smile spreading at the corner of Zhou Lan’s mouth, a different kind of smile.

Zhou Yun suddenly really missed Song Chi.

A strange impulse even grew inside her, urging her to fly to Song Chi tonight to see him.

Of course, reason pulled her impulsive thoughts back from the brink.

Downstairs, when Cao Jun was about to get off to help her with her luggage, Zhou Yun said, ”You don’t need to see me upstairs, I can manage on my own. You all should go back early and get some rest.”
