Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1569: Chapter 796: Tossing and Turning (2)

”Stop, for the next three months, you’re not allowed to ask me about Lin Zhiping.”

Zhou Yun: ”Why?”

”Because I don’t want to talk.” Zhou Lan said, ”I am indeed in contact with him, and during this process, I don’t want to be influenced by anyone. I just want to think it through myself.”

Zhou Yun listened to Zhou Lan and made an OK gesture.

”Then I’m relieved.”

Zhou Lan gave her a sidelong glance.

Zhou Yun said very earnestly, ”Sister Lan, I’m really not trying to be nosy, I’m just afraid you’re avoiding it again.”

Zhou Lan shot her a sharp look.

”Sigh, speaking of which, it’s a bit of a pity. We originally agreed to meet Director Yu Zhihe, right? Didn’t he say his new film features a Chinese person? A couple of days ago, I talked to Konosuke Harada—you know, the Japanese guy you met at Paris Fashion Week, the general manager of the Japan Matsushige Film Company. I spoke to him on the phone, and he apologized, saying the script had been revised and the female lead was changed back to a Japanese person. Finally, it was decided to find a local Japanese actress to play the role.”

Zhou Yun nodded at this, ”It’s a bit of a pity, but oh well, it’s quite normal.”

”Director Yu Zhihe is a director you’ve always wanted to collaborate with. There will be opportunities in the future, and you must work with him at least once.” Zhou Lan said, ”Actually, I have a little ambition. I hope you can collaborate with all the famous masters in the world.”

Zhou Yun showed a surprised expression.

”Sister Lan, that’s not a small ambition.”

Zhou Lan: ”I know it’s hard to achieve, but I’m treating it as a work goal. Next, I’m going to establish connections with film companies around the world, not just Hollywood, but all countries. I want to find you the best scripts, the best directors.”

Zhou Yun: ”Sure, I’ll leave it to you.”

”Sigh, speaking of which, after signing with Mowesen, assigning them your overseas agent business, they haven’t brought you any good projects, not proactive at all in their work.” Zhou Lan complained.

”Well, the roles suitable for me overseas are quite rare anyway. Such scripts and roles are hard to come by, we should not force it.” Zhou Yun said.

”That’s true, as I told you before, I’ve decided not to renew the contract with the Blink brand, right? When Mowesen heard the reason we were not renewing, they immediately arranged for someone to negotiate with Blink’s headquarters about this matter. Now Mowesen is asking me to temporarily hold off on deciding the issue, as it seems their headquarters wasn’t very aware of the situation beforehand. With Mowesen’s interference, it looks like their headquarters is starting to understand the specifics and Mowesen says they’re considering elevating your ambassador status to a global level.”

Zhou Yun was greatly surprised.

”Can it work?”

She knew how high Blink esteems itself—of course, it’s not just self-esteem, the brand itself, whether in history or style, is indisputably a top-tier brand.

Zhou Lan: ”Who knows if it can work anyway, but if the result is still just a Greater China Region ambassador role, then forget it, no renewal. It’s a joke, looking at the whole of Asia, how many actresses in recent years have better achievements than you? You’re about to have a big production like ’Killing Song.’ Anyone can see how high your commercial value is, are they big shots and we’re not great too?”

Zhou Lan’s words were indeed accurate.

Zhou Yun nodded in agreement.

It’s just that nobody knows what Blink will ultimately decide to do.

Suddenly, Zhou Lan’s phone rang.

”Hmm?” Zhou Lan became surprised when she saw the caller ID, ”Why is Xu Jinbo calling me?”

Xu Jinbo, the executive producer of ’Deep Sea.’

Zhou Lan answered the call.

”Hello? Brother Bo, what do you want from me?” Zhou Lan said happily, ”We haven’t met for a long time, we must find a time to get together and have a meal, or we’ll lose touch. You’re so busy with important matters every day, but don’t forget you have a little sister like me thinking about you.”

Xu Jinbo said something that made Zhou Lan laugh heartily.

Zhou Yun knew Zhou Lan too well, instantly recognizing that Zhou Lan was fake laughing.

”...”

Being an agent isn’t easy.

In the workplace, who doesn’t have a bit of acting skill?

Who says only actors have skill?

Zhou Lan sighed, ”Oh Brother Bo, you really are putting me in a tough spot. Xiao Yun never shoots sequels, even her self-produced ’Under the Grand Dress’ is like that, not to mention anything else. Yes, I understand, ’Deep Sea’ is very popular and I know many people in Europe and America like it, but this isn’t a matter of salary. Xiao Yun has so many roles lined up after this.”

Zhou Yun heard Zhou Lan and roughly guessed Xu Jinbo’s intent.

Still wanting to persuade them to start filming ’Deep Sea’s’ sequel.

Zhou Lan said, ”If Paimon wants to do a sequel, that’s not our concern. Brother Bo, Xiao Yun’s character I understand, and I’ll put it to you straight, she absolutely won’t perform a sequel, so stop trying to wear me down with this. If there was even a slight possibility, would I reject you so firmly?”

Zhou Yun took out her phone, ready to browse Weibo.

Suddenly, Zhou Lan’s voice raised eight pitches: ”What? You mean if Xiao Yun doesn’t perform, you’ll have another actor play her role? Brother Bo, that’s just not right. I know, it’s not your idea, I’m not directing my words at you. I know, it surely must be those money-blinded people at Yuehai, desperate and undiscriminating!”

Zhou Yun looked up.

Zhou Lan gestured at her to stay calm, ”I myself strongly oppose this decision. If you want to make a sequel and some spin-offs, I have no objections, but if you’re getting another actor to continue playing Xiao Yun’s role, honestly, this move is going to make us very unhappy. If you do that, you might as well find another actor for Yuk Chu’s role too.”

...

The phone call lasted nearly half an hour.

The call ended.

Zhou Yun asked, ”What’s Yuehai doing? They want to recast the actors to continue playing roles from the first film?”

”Yes.” Zhou Lan nodded, ”I have clearly expressed our opposition.”

Zhou Yun said, ”If they’re doing this, it’s just so frustrating.”

But if Yuehai insists on doing this, they really can’t stop them.

The contract doesn’t state the role can only be played by Zhou Yun.

Zhou Lan: ”Yuehai always likes to pull these troubling stunts, it’s exasperating.”

”If they proceed this way, let’s suspend any future cooperation.”

”You’re talking about ’Flower City’?” Zhou Lan asked.

Zhou Yun nodded.

Zhou Lan pondered for a while, ”Let’s wait and see, we’ll see what they ultimately decide to do.”
