Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1549: Chapter 784: Scandal Exposed (2)

When it was first announced that the female lead in ”Killing Song” was Zhou Yun, it sparked quite a discussion.

At that time, Zhou Yun’s ”Life” was released, receiving praise from many people. Later, Zhou Yun’s ”Behind the Scenes” and ”Deep Sea” were very popular in Europe and America, and many of her international fans expressed their support for her after seeing this topic.

Especially in France, Germany, and Italy, ”Behind the Scenes” was being released.

This film suited their tastes. In the first three days, the box office in these three countries all exceeded one million dollars, which was a pretty good result.

Zhou Yun had not become a genuine global movie star.

However, she already had a group of dedicated fans in each country.

Before the actress replacing Zhou Yun was revealed, Zhou Yun received support from a large number of people.

Because there was no competitor challenging her.

This incident happened when it was noon in the United States.

The department responsible for public relations and media at Mélando detected this matter and reported it immediately.

The executives organized a meeting right away.

Among them was Brillanch, who initially chose Zhou Yun for ”Killing Song.”

As soon as the meeting began, Brillanch was the first to speak: ”Previously, when you wanted to replace Zhou Yun with Gediyah, I said that this would definitely face resistance from many people. You underestimated the power of Zhou Yun’s fans. She is a leading actress in China, and if we’ve already announced her role and then replace her without any incident, it would certainly cause a lot of negative publicity.”

”This is also considering the box office. Zhou Yun is indeed a very good actress, but her fame in our major markets is not as extensive as Gediyah’s, which is an undeniable fact, isn’t it?”

”Then don’t forget, I mentioned before that the original novel of ’Killing Song’ features a Chinese girl. If you change the script to an American girl, it would not only displease the fans of the original work but also raise suspicions of racial discrimination. You’re changing the role of an Asian girl to an American girl,” Brillanch said, ”What kind of spell did Gediyah cast on you that makes you want to change the script for her?”

”That’s a very serious accusation. This has nothing to do with what Gediyah did. We just believe that using Gediyah would be a safer bet for the box office!”

”According to your logic, ’Harry Potter’ shouldn’t have cast those kids as the lead roles but instead used familiar faces that everyone recognizes,” Brillanch said, ”Please figure this out. ’Killing Song’ is already a well-known and popular novel. What we need to do is find the right actress for the story, not adjust for so-called market and box office considerations. If that’s the case, we shouldn’t have made this story into a movie at all!”

The meeting was very heated.

”A few days ago, Zhou Yun’s agent called me. I didn’t reveal this matter at the time, but now that Variety has exposed it, we must make a decision immediately. Are we going to break the contract with Zhou Yun and use Gediyah?” Brillanch said, ”Anyway, it’s up to you to decide. My opinion doesn’t count, but I strongly oppose the replacement of the actress!”

...

On the filming set.

Everyone saw the trending news.

It seemed that Zhou Yun was about to be replaced in ”Killing Song.”

Nobody felt comfortable joking or chatting in front of Zhou Yun.

They didn’t even know what to say to her, whether they should acknowledge knowing about it or pretend they didn’t.

Zhou Yun knew about the matter as soon as she got up in the morning.

Zhou Lan and Song Chi both called her.

Song Chi called to ask what was happening.

Zhou Yun said she didn’t know either.

Zhou Lan called to tell her to remain silent and not to respond to anything. She had officially submitted inquiries with Mélando and was waiting for their response.

During breakfast, Gu Huaichun looked at her, wanting to say something but kept hesitating.

Zhou Yun couldn’t stand their behavior any longer. She rolled her eyes at him and said, ”I don’t know what the situation is with this matter yet. Stop looking at me like you have something to say but won’t. If you want to say something, just say it.”

Gu Huaichun made an innocent face and said, ”I don’t know what to say either.”

Zhou Yun said, ”Ignore this matter. Let’s do what we’re supposed to do.”

Gu Huaichun asked, ”Aren’t you worried?”

”Worried about what? That I really will be replaced?”

”Yeah,” Gu Huaichun said, ”After all, this is such a rare opportunity.”

Zhou Yun said, ”I am worried, but worrying now won’t help. I also don’t want to keep thinking about it, so let’s just let it be. I’m not going to see my career collapse just because I don’t act in ’Killing Song.’”

Gu Huaichun nodded, ”That’s true.”

He nodded again and said, ”You really are impressive. You’ve got such a good mindset. If I encountered something like this, I would be at a loss and wouldn’t be able to keep calm.”

Zhou Yun said, ”Actually, I feel that way inside now, but I don’t want to feel that way, so I have to distract myself.”

This morning, Zhou Yun took Gu Huaichun to dig up radishes.

It was Gu Huaichun’s first time doing this kind of work.

He watched Zhou Yun’s skilled movements and asked, ”Did you learn this just recently?”

”You don’t need to learn this. After a few times, you’ll get the hang of it,” Zhou Yun said, ”I’ll make a lamb and radish soup for lunch. It’s a bit cold today; a bowl of lamb soup can warm you up.”

Gu Huaichun said, ”You can even make that? Your cooking skills have really improved.”

Zhou Yun said, ”I have learned to cook quite a few dishes, and I’ve even started researching my own recipes. Cooking is really quite interesting.”
