Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1424: Chapter 740: Event_3

”This news was leaked by someone inside New Shield. The ’Four Killers’ series is created by Hou Mengjie. If they really plan to make a sequel, New Shield will definitely prioritize having him continue directing. After all, the movie doesn’t only feature Zhou Yun as the lead, and I’ve heard that Zhou Yun wasn’t very interested in filming the sequel before. After this incident, she’ll probably be even less interested,” He Xuran analyzed. ”So, I think this news is fairly reliable.”

Yin Linglin’s eyes shifted as she asked, ”So, with Zhou Yun withdrawing, is New Shield planning to cast someone else in her role or just remove her character altogether?”

He Xuran replied, ”I guess they wouldn’t dare to let someone else take Zhou Yun’s role, as it would greatly impact the film’s reputation. I’m guessing it’s probably the latter option. If that’s the case, you’d be the sole female lead in this movie.”

Yin Linglin clearly understood He Xuran’s implication.

’Four Killers’ previously achieved such high box office results, so the sequel’s box office performance surely won’t be low.

Having several such sequels would ensure she has impressive output for the coming years.

Moreover, she’d be the sole female lead of the series, eliminating any competition from Zhou Yun.

Yin Linglin’s mood instantly brightened, feeling a surge of excitement.

As she was thinking this, she suddenly looked at He Xuran with guarded suspicion.

”Why are you willingly sharing this news with me?”

He Xuran shrugged helplessly and said, ”Why do you always assume the worst of others? Can’t I just share some good news with you?”

”Well, this might be good news for me, but not necessarily for you,” Yin Linglin replied. ”Doesn’t everyone think that this movie’s huge success is mainly due to Zhou Yun starring in it, riding on her fame?”

”I’ve never thought that. If Zhou Yun had such power, then why didn’t ’Behind the Scenes’ sell billions at the box office?” He Xuran retorted. ”In our industry, people love building myths, and you know that. Why bother caring about what people say? The key is considering actual benefits, isn’t it? Regardless of whether Zhou Yun continues acting, the sequel’s box office is sure to perform well. Besides, others might not know, but you surely do—the ’Four Killers’ film was mainly controlled by Hou Mengjie. Zhou Yun had no say on set and followed his direction entirely. As long as he remains the director, the sequel will definitely be good.”

”So?” Yin Linglin asked.

He Xuran smiled and said, ”Don’t you think this is a win-win opportunity for us too?”

His gaze suggestively lingered in Yin Linglin’s eyes.

Yin Linglin still looked at He Xuran suspiciously.

She wasn’t sure what his intentions were.

...

”The other two actors from ’Four Killers’ are over there, aren’t you going to greet them?” Wen Xi teased Zhou Yun as she approached in a dazzling silver sequin dress.

Zhou Yun glanced at the two people in question and smiled faintly, saying, ”We’re on different paths, no need to conspire together.”

”Then why help them when you were in Venice?” Wen Xi asked.

Zhou Yun replied, ”I was only helping the movie.”

”But now this movie seems to have become a hassle for you,” Wen Xi joked.

Despite her words, Wen Xi seemed convinced that this situation posed no real trouble for Zhou Yun, speaking very casually.

Wen Xi knew Zhou Yun’s influence.

This sort of thing wouldn’t affect Zhou Yun.

Zhou Yun smiled.

”Is Song Chi not here today?” Wen Xi asked.

Zhou Yun shook her head.

”He’s filming, dealing with a mess of his own.”

”Well, honestly, having a relaxed mindset, why wouldn’t work come with some issues?” Wen Xi laughed. ”I noticed you and Ning Yao chatting constantly. When did you two become so close?”

”Not really,” Zhou Yun shook her head. ”We were just chatting casually, not that familiar. But I feel like she and I have a bit of mutual appreciation.”
