Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1435: Chapter 744: Unable to Start Filming (Part 4)

”So, he only has issues with the choice of the lead actress?”

”He also has a lot of suggestions for script changes,” Song Chi said. ”We’ve already got the screenwriter working on revisions.”

”Ha, this guy really is a big shot.”

”There’s no other way. If we want him to act, we have to agree to his demands,” Song Chi said. ”Actually, when others invite us to act, don’t they also pay these kinds of costs?”

”I’ve never made such outrageous demands,” Zhou Yun said.

Song Chi laughed.

”That’s because you have a strong sense of morality, but he’s different. For him, the play is the greatest thing, and everything must give way for it.”

Zhou Yun responded with a hum.

”Dealing with him, he really is quite stubborn.”

...

When Zhou Lan heard that the lead actress of ”Conspicuous and Trouble” was going to be replaced, she immediately became interested.

”How about letting Xiao Jing try?” she suggested, ”Pairing with Wei Weicheng would definitely not waste Xiao Jing.”

Zhou Yun said, ”Wei Weicheng has high standards. I and Song Chi can’t influence him. You can let Xiao Jing try, but if Wei Weicheng isn’t satisfied, we can’t help Xiao Jing win him over.”

”Understood.” Zhou Lan nodded.

Originally, Zhou Lan wasn’t particularly interested in ”Conspicuous and Trouble.”

After all, it was just an ancient-style web drama. Wang Jing was now moving towards a high-quality route, with popularity being secondary.

But now, with the male lead changed from He Xuran to Wei Weicheng, the prestige of the drama instantly transformed.

Partnering with Wei Weicheng would be a great boost for Wang Jing’s career.

In this industry, the status of your co-stars often reflects your own status.

For a young actress like Wang Jing, this was precisely a pivotal moment. If she could partner with Wei Weicheng, this experience would easily help her stand out among peers.

Not to mention, if the drama became a big hit, Wang Jing would rise to fame overnight.

However, despite Zhou Lan’s daydreaming, the outcome was less than ideal.

On site, Wei Weicheng bluntly said that Wang Jing’s acting was too exaggerated, not to his liking.

Wei Weicheng’s words left Wang Jing flushed with embarrassment, not daring to retort.

When Zhou Lan heard this, she cursed Wei Weicheng for his lack of manners.

If you’re not satisfied, fine, but why criticize someone?!

Because Wei Weicheng was selecting a lead actress, news of his return quickly spread through the entertainment circle.

In no time, both those with availability and those without were reaching out for the role.

Even Xu Siyao came forward, boldly recommending herself.

”I have great acting skills. If I play the lead role, I’ll definitely be better than others,” she said brazenly, right in front of Wei Weicheng. ”If you choose me, you won’t regret it.”

Wei Weicheng recognized her and said, ”I’ve seen your work; it’s indeed good, but you don’t fit this script, so thank you, but no.”

Xu Siyao was stunned.

”Not suitable?”

”The lead female character in ’Conspicuous and Trouble’ is someone with high knowledge, composure, and intellectual elegance. You’re too far removed from this image, and it’s not something that acting skills can compensate for.”

Xu Siyao rolled her eyes in anger on the spot.

Hearing Wei Weicheng’s critique of Xu Siyao, a bit of Zhou Lan’s previous anger dissipated.

”That mouth... really is cursed with venom,” Zhou Lan complained.

With the start date for ”Conspicuous and Trouble” approaching, the lead actress still hadn’t been decided, making everyone anxious.

Wu Chengbao approached Wei Weicheng, suggesting that if they really couldn’t find a suitable actress, they couldn’t just keep delaying indefinitely.

Wei Weicheng remained calm and said, ”If we can’t find anyone satisfactory in the end, then we’ll forget about it.”

Wu Chengbao froze.

”What do you mean by ’forget about it’?”

Wei Weicheng said, ”We won’t shoot.”

Wu Chengbao almost couldn’t believe his ears.

He looked at Wei Weicheng in shock and said, ”Are you saying that if we don’t find a satisfactory actress, you won’t shoot?”

”Yes,” Wei Weicheng nodded. ”If we don’t find a satisfactory actress, I can’t act either.”

”Wei Weicheng, do you realize how much money has already been invested in this production? If you say you won’t shoot, how much will we lose?”

”I don’t know, and I don’t want to know,” Wei Weicheng said indifferently. ”That’s something you all need to consider, but not me.”

Wu Chengbao was so angry that his chest heaved up and down.

Yet, he couldn’t really bring himself to confront Wei Weicheng head-on.

Wei Weicheng’s attitude angered Wu Chengbao.

Fuming, Wu Chengbao said, ”I refuse to believe we can’t find anyone else to play in ’Conspicuous and Trouble’!”

After Song Chi learned about their dispute, he said nothing, pretending nothing had happened.

It’s not that Song Chi wasn’t upset or frustrated.

The main thing is that he knew clearly that even if he got involved, he wouldn’t be able to solve the problem.

Even though he had known Wei Weicheng for a long time, he couldn’t change Wei Weicheng’s mind.

Either they found a replacement male lead, or they found a female lead that satisfied Wei Weicheng.

These were the only two paths forward; otherwise, the outcome would lead only to ”unable to begin production.”
