Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1413: Chapter 734: Weibo Crashed_2

”They approached Su Qin, a very famous screenwriter with a lot of experience, so there won’t be any drastic changes,” said Zhou Lan. ”Su has won the Best Screenplay Award at the major three awards.”

”That’s good, at least they didn’t just find some random screenwriter to alter everything,” Zhou Yun replied. ”When you told me this news just now, I was really taken aback.”

”You don’t need to worry about this matter. Yuehai wouldn’t change the script at all just to get you to star in this drama; everyone in the industry knows you have very high demands on scripts,” said Zhou Lan. ”Right now, we haven’t even signed any tentative agreement with them, so they wouldn’t act recklessly. The last time we collaborated, they kept wanting to use more of their own actors from Yuehai; this time, they’ve completely left that out and proactively let us choose roles first.”

Zhou Yun was surprised, ”Really? That’s not possible, right?”

In such a major drama, allowing them to select roles first?

Zhou Lan said, ”You have no idea how much money ’Deep Sea’ made them, just the ads alone made them billions, not to mention the overseas licensing revenue.”

Zhou Yun shook her head.

”I really didn’t know how much they made.”

Zhou Lan, ”In short, Yuehai is lowering their stance this time. As long as we’re willing to act, we can name our conditions freely.”

”Still, let’s not be hasty. I don’t have any particular requirements either,” Zhou Yun said. ”Besides, the script hasn’t shown any sign yet, what’s there to pick for roles? Let’s wait until the script is out.”

Zhou Lan, ”I knew you would say that.”

She paused, then said, ”There’s one more thing, I’d like to consult you about.”

”Hmm?”

”It’s Xiao Jing over there. She’s received two very good opportunities, but the shooting schedules for these scripts clash, and Xiao Jing can only choose one,” Zhou Lan said. ”I’m unsure which one to choose for her. One of them is a role in Zhong Qiu’s new film. It’s not the leading role but still quite important. The other is a major New Shield production, a comedy where she’d play the second lead; the screen time is almost equal to the lead. Both opportunities are great.”

”Which role do you think suits Xiao Jing better?” Zhou Yun asked.

Zhou Lan said, ”Both roles suit her. I’m really not exaggerating; they are both striking roles, but they don’t require particularly high acting skills. Whichever she plays, she can handle it. Zhong Qiu’s film is quite niche, but he himself holds a high status in the circle. His films, regardless of box office success, always wins awards. If Xiao Jing acts in his film, there would be a significant chance for her to aim for awards. As for the New Shield comedy, it has high box office prospects and the role they chose for Xiao Jing is particularly fun. My intuition is that if Xiao Jing plays this role, she could become popular.”

If a supporting role in a comedy film stands out, and if the film becomes popular, it can also be explosive, just like Yin Zheng and Wang Zhi in ”Goodbye Mr. Loser.”

Those two rose to fame because of this film.

Take Wang Zhi, even if she hasn’t had any memorable work since that film, she still plays lead roles even after so many years.

Because being famous means being recognized, and there’s always some degree of notoriety.

Zhou Yun understood Zhou Lan’s hesitation.

Choosing Zhong Qiu’s film might have a high chance to aim for an award.

Choosing the new comedy film might significantly boost Wang Jing’s fame.

If there were a choice, of course, it would be great to take both opportunities.

But unfortunately, the filming schedules for these two productions overlap.

Zhou Yun told Zhou Lan, ”I don’t know how to choose either. If we can’t decide, let’s have Xiao Jing decide for herself.”

Zhou Lan said, ”If it’s left for her own choice, I already know what she would pick without even asking.”

”What would she choose?”

”Zhong Qiu’s art film,” Zhou Lan said. ”She’s entangled with her own desire to prove her acting skills and wants to become a capable actress.”

”Xiao Jing...why is she obsessed with this?”

”Because she’s your junior,” Zhou Lan said helplessly, ”Whenever people mention her, they can’t help but compare her to highlight her weaknesses, especially in acting. Many marketing accounts say that although Wang Jing’s acting is passable, it pales in comparison when directly compared to you.”

Zhou Yun couldn’t help but frown.

”Who’s saying such things? It’s frustrating.”

”Yeah, it’s indeed frustrating, and I feel the same. But that’s just reality, especially for people inside the industry. Unless one day she truly breaks out and makes a name for herself, everyone’s first reaction upon seeing her is that she’s your junior.”
