Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1418: Chapter 737: Empress (Part 2)

Song Chi: ”Seapool Film and Television originally thought you would be involved in this project, but Li Rui rejected you without notifying them first, leaving Seapool Film and Television caught off guard. When they looked at the script and saw it was an art film, they lost interest in investing and producing, found an excuse to end their cooperation with Li Rui, and hinted to Li Rui that they did this to avoid offending you.”

”The person in charge? The one representing Seapool Film and Television in negotiations with Li Rui was Windsor.”

”Hmm? Wen Bing’s girlfriend?” Song Chi was stunned and asked surprisedly.

”Yes.” Zhou Yun said, ”Either Windsor shifted the blame onto me, or Li Rui is lying; these are the only two possibilities. Previously, we approached Seapool Film and Television to ask them to clear things up for me, but they remained silent. Now, it seems that the first possibility is more likely.”

”If it’s Windsor, is it possible she has a personal grudge against you and deliberately shifted the conflict onto you?” Song Chi asked.

”It’s possible, maybe.” Zhou Yun said, ”I don’t really get along with her. When she was dating Wen Bing, I didn’t like her. According to Wen Bing, she doesn’t particularly like me either.”

”Why doesn’t she like you?”

”Maybe she feels Wen Bing is too close to me.” Zhou Yun said.

”Wen Bing is a director, and the nature of his work requires him to be close to many actresses. If she can’t handle that, she shouldn’t date him.”

”That’s true, but people are always prone to jealousy.” Zhou Yun said, ”Enough about that, are things going smoothly on your end?”

Song Chi was filming, and Zhou Yun had heard that there were frequent troubles on that set.

Song Chi said: ”The director and the production company have serious conflicts. I’ve heard some rumors that they’re looking for another director to urgently take over.”

”Huh?” Zhou Yun asked in shock, eyes wide open, ”It’s that serious?”

”Yes.” Song Chi said, ”No one expected it, but the conflicts between the two sides are indeed very big. The producer, supervisor, screenwriter, and director have argued on the set several times. I never expected it; I’m quite bewildered.”

”For such a big production to turn out like this, it’s rare.” Zhou Yun said, ”Will it delay filming?”

”It’s alright, although the arguments are intense, filming hasn’t stopped. It’s just that there’s a lot of dispute over how the rest of the film should be shot.” Song Chi said, ”The director wants to follow the original script, but the production company and producer had the screenwriter change the ending of the script, and that’s what’s causing intense disagreement.”

Zhou Yun asked: ”Can you accept the revised script?”

”The ending of the script is a tragedy. The director wants artistic value in the tragedy ending, but the producers are afraid the audience won’t accept a tragic ending, so they want to change it to a less tragic ending.” Song Chi didn’t directly express his opinion and said, ”From a scriptwriting standpoint, regardless of whether it’s a tragedy, it doesn’t really affect the overall completeness of the story; it’s just that both sides have their own considerations.”

Zhou Yun: ”Your opinion is very important to them.”

”That’s why I can’t speak up casually.” Song Chi said.

Things were chaotic on Song Chi’s end.

After Zhou Yun finished the call, she immediately received a call from Yao Yuanfeng.

Yao Yuanfeng started by criticizing Hou Mengjie.

”Xiao Yun, I don’t know what’s gotten into Hou Mengjie, forwarding Li Rui’s Weibo. I had no idea about this; don’t misunderstand.”

Zhou Yun said: ”I understand, President Yao, I don’t think Hou Mengjie was acting on your behalf.”

”Sigh, I called him too, but this guy is really stubborn.”

”It’s alright.” Zhou Yun said calmly, ”He didn’t really say anything. Maybe Li Rui is his friend, and he needs to support his friend.”

Yao Yuanfeng: ”Don’t worry, I’ll help you clarify this matter. Saying you suppress newcomers is ridiculous; you’re the most supportive of new actors I know.”

Zhou Yun didn’t reply.

Yao Yuanfeng seemed unsure of what to say next.

”President Yao, let’s just forget about the second installment of ’Four Killers’.” Zhou Yun said, ”Given the current situation, it wouldn’t be appropriate for me to continue with the second installment. Don’t you agree?”

This time, Yao Yuanfeng finally gave up on trying to persuade her.

He sighed.

Yao Yuanfeng said: ”Without you starring, there’s no point in making the sequel.”

Zhou Yun: ”Not really, the first one had such high box office; surely some people would want to see the second one.”

Yao Yuanfeng: ”This Hou Mengjie doesn’t even realize what opportunity he’s passing up.”

Zhou Yun chuckled, without saying anything.

Just how much influence does Zhou Yun have?

This question became particularly intriguing and a point of interest for marketing accounts.

Many people were writing various analytical posts and articles, with numerous participants.

The first story brought up was about how Zhou Yun single-handedly enabled Yin Linglin and the other three to rejoin official activities at the Venice International Film Festival.

Secondly, Zhou Yun’s network was discussed.

According to their analysis, all the major domestic film companies and platforms have substantial collaborative relationships with Zhou Yun.

From New Shield to Yuehai, from Seapool Film to Chestnut Video.

Moreover, Zhou Yun also has Song Chi’s network and connections behind her. Overall, Zhou Yun has become almost the most powerful woman in this entertainment circle.

After Zhou Yun saw this analytical post, she was both amused and frustrated.

According to their narrative, she could command the entertainment industry, rally multiple responses, and ascend as the Empress.
