Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1412: Chapter 734: Weibo Crashed

The person who initially coordinated with Li Rui on behalf of Seapool Film and Television was Windsor.

Wen Bing’s ex-girlfriend.

Actually, Zhou Yun was quite surprised when she heard that Seapool Film and Television had reached an agreement with Li Rui.

Mainly because of the positioning of Seapool Film and Television as a company.

Seapool Film and Television is primarily known in the domestic film and television industry for producing TV dramas.

There is actually a big difference in production between TV series and movies. A company responsible for content production rarely spans both fields and generally focuses on one of them.

Seapool Film and Television does invest in films but seldom takes charge of the production process.

When they acquired ”Above the Dust,” they were genuinely aiming at the production aspect.

Producing this type of movie, which basically has no market prospects, for a big company like Seapool Film and Television, is most likely not about box office returns. Some want to sign the director, some want to train the director’s experience, and some are aiming for awards. There are various reasons, after all, theatrical release is not the only way to make money.

After being in good contact, suddenly they decided not to invest, what Seapool Film and Television is planning, is really unclear.

Zhou Lan inquired about it, and then she discovered that it was really Seapool Film and Television that stood Li Rui up.

Zhou Lan said: ”I heard that during a new round of evaluation, Seapool Film and Television believed shooting this film would lose money.”

Zhou Yun, hearing Zhou Lan’s explanation, was dumbfounded and surprised, ”Huh?”

Zhou Lan shrugged and said, ”For a production company, this is actually quite common. In fact, when Seapool Film and Television originally favored the script ’Above the Dust’ and wanted to give it the green light, I found it unusual. Do you know what I mean? This kind of script is generally independently produced. If it weren’t for your interest and your decision to produce this movie, I think Seapool wouldn’t have noticed it at all. But then, after roping in Li Rui, they suddenly realized that this script might not make money at all, and they lost their previous interest.”

Zhou Yun said, ”What Seapool Film and Television did is really too much. And Chen Wenjun approved of this?”

”I’ve said it, this kind of thing is not uncommon, and no one knows if any film can be completed smoothly before it’s done.”

”Then why would Li Rui think I was the one behind sabotaging his project?”

”Don’t know, who knows, maybe Li Rui just imagined it himself.” Zhou Lan has always looked down on Li Rui, ”A person like him, always relying on his talent, regards himself highly in front of anyone. How could he possibly think it’s because of himself or the script that others abandon cooperating with him? Surely someone must have meddled, which is why others would give up such a well-written script.”

Zhou Yun was momentarily annoyed.

She furrowed her brows.

”If Li Rui is slandering me without any evidence, then I’m really a bit angry.”

”Are you only just now getting a bit angry? I’ve been angry for a while.” Zhou Lan complained, ”In my opinion, we should just issue a statement and forcefully strike back.”

Zhou Yun thought for a while, and said to Zhou Lan: ”It’s still a bit inappropriate for us to respond directly to this matter ourselves. Sister Lan, why don’t you go find someone from Seapool Film and Television and have them make a statement to clarify the situation? I still have another show waiting to be aired with them, and they wouldn’t want to see me entangled in such a scandal.”

Zhou Lan nodded.

”Alright, I’ll communicate with them.”

”Also, you should communicate with Li Rui too. If he’s hinting at us and we don’t contact him, it might seem like we’re admitting it.”

”I’ve already messaged him, but he hasn’t replied to me. I can’t get in touch with him,” Zhou Lan said, ”Actually, the best solution to this matter is for Li Rui to clarify. He should say that what he mentioned has nothing to do with you and wasn’t insinuating you. However, his words are already quite explicit, and even if he clears things up, few people will believe it. There’s no way around this.”

”Whatever happens, happens. I haven’t done anything wrong, and I have nothing to fear,” Zhou Yun said.

Zhou Lan nodded.

”One more thing, about the script from Gu Huaichun’s side, I heard that even though Yuehai is pushing it forward, they’ve found another screenwriter to make changes.” She said to Zhou Yun, ”The current script is likely not going to pass the review.”

”Modify the script?” Zhou Yun frowned upon hearing it, ”They won’t just alter it blindly, will they?”
