Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1406: Chapter 731: Gu Huaichun’s Thoughts (2)

To put it bluntly, they are just some insignificant awards that the industry doesn’t recognize.

Gu Huaichun carefully reads scripts and selects scripts.

He acts in the films arranged by the company, but he has also said that he is willing to act in these films in the hope that the company must support him when there is a role he really wants to play.

In recent years, Gu Huaichun’s position in Yuehai has been particularly stable.

No matter how the reputation is, his popularity remains high, with a strong fan base, highly favored by brand partners in fashion and business sectors.

Especially as his appearance is exceptionally outstanding, he is very popular in the fashion industry.

No matter how strict Yuehai is, and how strict they manage their artists, they always give preferential treatment to their most profitable and commercially valuable artists.

At Gu Huaichun’s level, the agency cannot treat him the same way as before to retain him.

When Gu Huaichun wants to act in something he desires, Yuehai does not refuse.

Anyway, as long as it’s a project that Gu Huaichun is involved in, there will definitely be investors willing to invest; funding is not an issue, nor is worrying about returns.

But Yuehai did not expect that Gu Huaichun ended up choosing a script that even had trouble passing the review process.

This script was created several years ago.

At that time, the censorship system was not as strict as it is now, but it was left unresolved due to the inability to find suitable actors, and the cast assembled was not favored by the TV station, so it was shelved.

When online videos rose, the content creation department needed a large number of scripts to expand its IP pool, so they bought the script that was already completed.

However, by the time the actors could be assembled, the story exploring male and female relationships and financial relationships became sensitive, making it extremely difficult to pass censorship.

Once a drama cannot pass the review, it’s really frustrating.

For this reason, Yuehai has been holding onto this script with no intention of shooting it.

If it weren’t for Gu Huaichun suddenly taking an interest, this script would have remained shelved indefinitely.

Yuehai found Gu Huaichun’s interest in this script very troublesome.

Because they were really afraid that this drama might not air and end up as a loss in their hands.

However, since Gu Huaichun is determined to shoot it, they can’t go against him.

They initially wanted to put Gu Huaichun on hold, waiting for him to calm down before discussing matters with him.

But Gu Huaichun has been persistently pushing the project forward.

On this day, Gu Huaichun called Lu Yuan, the general manager in charge of film and TV content production at Yuehai, to discuss the drama.

Lu Yuan became a bit stressed as soon as he received the call.

”Huaichun, I know you want to push this project, but it doesn’t have to be so soon. We just talked about it not long ago. Why are you calling every day?”

Lu Yuan asked directly, which showed that he was truly annoyed by Gu Huaichun’s calls.

Gu Huaichun said directly, ”President Lu, I’m not here to rush the progress today. I have some news to tell you.”

Lu Yuan: ”Hmm? What news?”

Gu Huaichun said, ”I’ve already secured the female lead.”

Lu Yuan’s head immediately ached upon hearing this.

”No, Huaichun, why are you so hasty? We haven’t even figured out if this drama can be shot or when it will start. How could you go ahead and find a female lead?” Lu Yuan said, ”Moreover, the company definitely has considerations for the female lead of this drama. If we finally decide to shoot this drama, regardless of anything else, the company will be taking on considerable risk. It will need to be offset elsewhere. Contacting someone personally to play the female lead could complicate matters.”

Gu Huaichun laughed lightly, as if he had expected Lu Yuan to say this: ”President Lu, rest assured. The female lead I’ve secured is one whose name you wouldn’t have a second opinion once you hear it.”

Lu Yuan frowned in confusion.

Gu Huaichun said, ”Haven’t you always wanted me to invite Zhou Yun to shoot a film for Yuehai? This time, I’ve brought her in.”

Lu Yuan’s eyes immediately widened.

He was surprised beyond belief.

Ever since ”Deep Sea” aired at the beginning of the year, Yuehai had enjoyed the success and tried hard to sign Zhou Yun for another contract. However, all the scripts sent to Zhou Yun’s studio were rejected, even ones with big-name directors and writers and top-level paychecks, failing to impress her.

Yuehai was struggling to find a way to continue collaborating with Zhou Yun, knowing that ”Deep Sea” was still the drama with the highest advertising revenue this year.

Lu Yuan asked in amazement, ”Are you saying that Zhou Yun agreed? Not just agreed to read the script?”

Gu Huaichun said, ”She agreed and has reserved her schedule for me.”

Lu Yuan immediately made up his mind.

No need to say more; it doesn’t matter if it won’t pass the review. Even if it can’t pass, with some edits and revisions, it can pass. Besides, there’s also the vast overseas market.

As long as Zhou Yun is starring in it, even if it doesn’t release in the mainland, the drama won’t suffer a loss.

They had already tasted the success with ”Deep Sea”.

”Deep Sea” is still continuously earning Yuehai licensing fees.

Lu Yuan said, ”Huaichun, since you managed to bring Zhou Yun aboard, I’ll immediately give this project the green light and push it forward at the fastest speed.”

Although Gu Huaichun had already anticipated Lu Yuan’s reaction, actually hearing Lu Yuan suddenly acting like he had obtained some rare treasure, fearing it might be snatched away by someone else, made him feel a bit like coldly laughing inside. But at the same time, it further strengthened his resolve to transition, to become a true leading actor, not just a so-called popular idol.

To truly carve a niche for himself in this industry, he must insist on transitioning, doing what a true actor should do.
