Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1439: Chapter 745: She Has Never Failed

Song Chi said, ”Didn’t I promise you before that I’d prepare a script for you and Yu Zhiyang? I finally found that script.”

”Are you serious?” Zhou Yun said in surprise.

Song Chi: ”I’m serious. And I really like this script myself.”

”What, are you going to act in it too?” Zhou Yun asked.

Song Chi said, ”I want to direct it myself.”

Hearing what Song Chi said, Zhou Yun was even more shocked.

”You’re going to direct it yourself?” Zhou Yun asked. ”Are you joking with me, or are you serious?”

”I’m serious,” Song Chi said. ”I’ve been brewing this idea for a long time, but before this I kept feeling the timing wasn’t quite right. After I found this script, that impulse came back.”

”I get it,” Zhou Yun said. ”Then let’s do it. For your directorial debut, I have to be in it.”

”Mm.” Song Chi smiled.

Zhou Yun heard his laughter.

Zhou Yun had no idea what kind of script Song Chi had set his sights on.

But since Song Chi planned to direct it himself, there was really nothing more to say.

Even if it ended up being a complete disaster, Zhou Yun would still stay with him and see this project through.

What’s more, Zhou Yun had a lot of faith in Song Chi’s taste in movies.

...

The day Conspicuous and Trouble officially announced Wei Weicheng, the internet exploded.

Wei Weicheng’s comeback and return to filming unsurprisingly grabbed all the attention that day.

Just as they’d expected from the start, almost everyone’s focus was on Wei Weicheng.

Before he left, he’d been ridiculously popular, and he had a huge body of work that made people remember him.

Wei Weicheng, like Song Chi, was an actor with a lot of work piled up behind him, which meant that no matter how long they were away, they could always come back by stepping right into everyone’s memories.

Wu Chengbao, as the representative of the production company, held a press conference to publicly announce the news and took questions on site.

The first question was: ”How did you persuade Wei Weicheng to come and shoot this film?”

Wu Chengbao answered with a smile: ”It was actually an accident. We originally had another male actor set, but he bailed on us, so we had no choice but to find a male actor who could step in at the last minute. Song Chi sent the script to Wei Weicheng. After he read it, he decided to take the role.”

The second question was: ”So Wei Weicheng was invited back by Song Chi?”

Wu Chengbao said: ”Rather than saying Song Chi invited him back, I’d rather say that Weicheng himself already really wanted to come back to acting. Because of personal reasons, he hasn’t filmed anything for the past two years, but he’s an actor who is absolutely obsessed with acting. I haven’t known him that long, but in the few times we’ve communicated, I’ve deeply felt his passion for performing. I’m really looking forward to the level of acting he’ll bring everyone in this project. It’s definitely going to exceed expectations.”

The third question: ”If Wei Weicheng is playing the male lead, who’s the female lead? Is it Zhou Yun?”

Wu Chengbao said: ”Please allow us to keep that confidential for now. But what I can tell you is that our female lead is also an Actress who is not inferior to any other Actress.”

The suspense Wu Chengbao dangled there basically made everyone conclude that the female lead had to be Zhou Yun.

There was only Wu Chengbao attending this press conference.

Neither Song Chi nor Wei Weicheng was there.

But both of them had recorded a VCR.

Song Chi said in the VCR: ”I’m very happy to be able to share this good news with everyone. Yes, my good friend, and an actor I respect tremendously, Wei Weicheng, he’s finally back! I’m especially happy that the first project he’s doing after his return is a collaboration with me. I hope this is a signal that after this film, we’ll have even more chances to work together.”

Wei Weicheng said in the VCR: ”Hello, long time no see, I’m back. I haven’t met you all in a long while, and I’ve really missed you. I wonder if you’ve missed me just as much. I haven’t acted for several years, and I’ve constantly been nostalgic for the feeling of being on set—especially in these past few years, when so many outstanding actors have emerged. They often make me feel inspired, like I need to hurry up and come back, or everyone is going to forget about me! Anyway, let’s cut to the chase. This time I’m acting in Conspicuous and Trouble because I got an invitation from Song Chi, and also because I love this story. It’s a type of character I’ve never played before, and a genre I’ve never tried. I’ll be bringing this film with me as I come back in front of you all again. Please look forward to it.”
