Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1447: Chapter 746: Control_5

Huang Zicheng and Lu Zhongting both joined crews and started filming.

Everyone was working hard at their own jobs.

Ironically, the previously busiest Zhou Yun had suddenly become much more idle during this stretch of time.

Every few days she would drag her friends out to see exhibitions, chat, and she’d also organize some get-togethers, joking around and having fun.

Her circle of friends wasn’t made up solely of artists; from editors to reporters, from screenwriters to photographers, there were practitioners from all walks of life.

Before, Zhou Yun had never had the time to round this big group of people up for a gathering; now she finally had a moment.

Because of Wen Xi, even though Wen Xi didn’t come, Zhou Yun still invited Jin Su.

She knew Jin Su was very much in need of opportunities right now, so she didn’t mind offering him some help within the scope of what she could do.

Letting Jin Su meet more people at this gathering would also be beneficial.

What Zhou Yun hadn’t expected was that someone would actually come over and say to her, ”Xiao Yun, is that Jin Su a friend of yours? He’s a bit strange, you might want to be careful.”

”Mm? What’s wrong?” Hearing her friend say that, Zhou Yun instantly felt a bit tense inside.

Her friend said, ”I heard him keep telling people that you and he are very close, hoping they’ll look after him more. How should I put it, it doesn’t really sound like the way someone talks when they’re genuinely close to you, otherwise he wouldn’t need to keep stressing it to every single person. I’m just worried he’s going around in front of others, waving your name as a banner and causing trouble for you.”

Hearing this, Zhou Yun was utterly stunned.

The way her friend relayed it was surely already very euphemistic.

Zhou Yun didn’t even dare imagine that this was how Jin Su had been talking about her in front of them.

It felt as if someone had stabbed a hole in her chest and the wind was roaring through.

The people she’d invited today were all folks she’d worked with before, acquaintances she was relatively familiar with.

She knew that if Jin Su really used her name to ask them for help, many of them would actually help.

Zhou Yun regretted it endlessly; she shouldn’t have called Jin Su over.

But now, anything she said would be too late.

All Zhou Yun could do was think of a way to minimize the negative impact of this whole thing.

She had no choice but to discreetly explain to every friend who’d come why Jin Su was there, and when everyone sat down to eat together at the end, she even raised her glass deliberately and said, ”Everyone, let me introduce someone. This is Jin Su, Wen Xi’s junior from school. Wen Xi was supposed to come too, but she’s abroad at Fashion Week right now, so only Jin Su came on behalf of his senior. He’s also working as an actor; if you happen to have any good opportunities, please keep him in mind.”

By saying this, she was clarifying Jin Su’s background for everyone, so they wouldn’t misunderstand and think he and she actually had some special relationship.

Everyone exchanged a knowing glance and clinked glasses.

Jin Su didn’t pick up on what Zhou Yun’s real purpose was in saying all that; he thought Zhou Yun was deliberately introducing him to everyone and was even a little excited.

After the gathering ended, Zhou Yun hesitated over whether she should call Wen Xi and tell her about what had happened.

After a brief consideration, she decided to let it go.

If Zhou Yun told Wen Xi about this, it would put Wen Xi in a tough spot too.

After all, inviting Jin Su today wasn’t something Wen Xi had asked her to do; it was Zhou Yun who thought of Jin Su, knew he needed this kind of opportunity, and invited him.

This was a lesson Zhou Yun could just swallow herself.

Silently, she added Jin Su to her blacklist.

When Zhou Lan heard about this, she burst out laughing and said, ”You’re just too good to your friends sometimes. Since Wen Xi never even asked you to do her this favor, why did you take the initiative to help him? If Jin Su were really worth cultivating, Wen Xi wouldn’t be acting this way. Think about it—Wen Xi herself probably feels helpless about him. If she distances herself, it looks like a senior who’s unwilling to help her junior out; but if she really does pull him up, he’s not someone worth supporting either. So she can only leave things hanging like this.”

”You’re right.” Zhou Yun nodded.

Zhou Lan said, ”Anyway, it’s not that big a deal; you don’t need to dwell on it.”

”I’m just reflecting on myself.” Zhou Yun smiled. ”I feel like I’ve been a bit out of control lately.”

Zhou Lan was startled.

She asked in shock, ”You feel out of control? Wait, are you joking with me or being serious? You’re telling me you feel a bit out of control in such a calm tone... I’m telling you, you really scared me.”

Zhou Lan knew that actors were often psychologically fragile, especially actors in a position like Zhou Yun’s. The first ten years after they enter the industry are the ten years when they’re most prone to having issues.

They throw themselves in one hundred percent, and it feels like there are many different personalities inside them; and the roles Zhou Yun took on were each more complex and profound than the last.

Zhou Lan had always been worried that something might go wrong with Zhou Yun.

Hearing how agitated Zhou Lan was, Zhou Yun knew what she was worried about. She laughed and said, ”Relax, it’s not the kind of mental issue you’re thinking of. It’s just that I feel like I can’t quite get a grip on my life anymore.”

Zhou Lan frowned in confusion.

In Zhou Lan’s eyes, Zhou Yun’s life was about as simple as it could get.

She had no family; in her life, aside from Song Chi, it was just a few friends—extremely simple.

She didn’t really have any other circles either; her social life was even simpler.

Zhou Lan couldn’t understand why Zhou Yun would feel a loss of control over her life.

If even Zhou Yun felt out of control in her own life, then what did that make the rest of them?

Zhou Lan had a lot of questions she wanted to ask, but she didn’t voice any of them.

Because she knew there was no point in asking.

All she could say was, ”It’s okay, we’ll take it step by step. If you feel like you can’t manage your life anymore, let’s first see what exactly is going on.”
