Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1431: Chapter 743: Wei Weicheng (2)

His tone carried a kind of apparent lightness.

Song Chi heard Wei Weicheng say that and couldn’t help but sigh in his heart.

”You—”

”But why did you suddenly call me? It’s not just because you heard I’m back and decided to call, right?” Wei Weicheng said, ”You’re not typically a free person.”

”I have a project, the leading man previously discussed bailed on me. I heard you’re back, so I called to ask if you’re interested in looking at it?”

When Song Chi said this, he didn’t expect Wei Weicheng to agree.

Wei Weicheng had been undergoing treatment; he couldn’t stay long-term in a film crew.

Song Chi knew this.

If Wei Weicheng’s condition hadn’t improved, he really couldn’t take on a project.

Especially a web series like ”Conspicuous and Trouble,” which has a long shooting schedule.

Unexpectedly to Song Chi, Wei Weicheng actually said, ”Sure, send me the script to take a look.”

Song Chi was utterly surprised.

He said, ”Didn’t you just say you need to return to the United States for continued treatment?”

”I’ve been in the United States for the past two years, tired of it, and it’s conservative treatment anyway; returning a few months late isn’t a big deal,” Wei Weicheng said, ”I still want to act; not acting for so long has made me itch for it.”

”Then I’ll send you the script to check it out.” Song Chi said.

After hanging up, Song Chi was still immersed in shock.

Wei Weicheng’s reaction had surprised him, even leaving him a bit at a loss.

Wu Chengbao, upon learning from him that Wei Weicheng requested the script, was instantly excited.

”Did Wei Weicheng really take the script?”

”He did, but...” Song Chi couldn’t put his finger on it; he just felt something was off.

Wu Chengbao didn’t concern himself with what was off; for him, as long as Wei Weicheng was interested in the project, it was enough.

If they could eventually get Wei Weicheng to play the lead, it would turn a problem into an opportunity.

...

What Zhou Yun didn’t expect was that she soon had an opportunity to meet Wei Weicheng.

This opportunity was courtesy of Wen Xi.

Wen Xi hosted a party at home, inviting friends to join in.

Zhou Yun went with pleasure, and there she met Wei Weicheng.

Wei Weicheng was wearing just a white shirt, quietly sitting on the balcony, talking to another person.

Golden sunlight fell, shining on the two of them.

Outside the balcony, lush green trees stood.

Seeing this scene, Zhou Yun felt a cinematic beauty as if witnessing a film frame.

Wen Xi stood next to Zhou Yun and asked, ”You know him, don’t you? Wei Weicheng, he’s back.”

Zhou Yun really liked Song Chi’s looks.

Song Chi had that handsome, sunny look, with spring-summer vitality.

While Wei Weicheng differed from Song Chi, he had a tranquil demeanor.

This was Zhou Yun’s first time seeing Wei Weicheng in reality.

”He’s really good-looking.” Wen Xi said, ”When he was active domestically, many women pursued him.”

”Hmm.” Zhou Yun nodded, ”Looking like him, it’s no surprise many women liked him.”

”It’s a shame he left for so long due to illness.” Wen Xi’s tone showed a touch of regret.

Zhou Yun asked, ”What illness does he have?”

Wen Xi said, ”The specifics are unknown; many people are curious and have tried to inquire but haven’t managed to find out anything.”

”Are you close to him?” Zhou Yun asked.

”I’ve known him for a long time, but not particularly close; why?”

”Song Chi recently has a project and considers asking him to play a role; I’m contemplating whether to talk to him about it.” Zhou Yun said.

Wen Xi: ”You both are actors; even if you don’t chat about this matter, there’s plenty else to talk about. I’ll introduce you two.”

”Thank you.” Zhou Yun said with a smile.

Wen Xi led Zhou Yun to meet Wei Weicheng.

Wei Weicheng stood up, maintaining a smile.

”Hello.” He greeted Zhou Yun proactively.

Zhou Yun smiled at him.

”Hello, I’ve always wanted to meet you; finally we’ve met.” Zhou Yun said, ”I’m Zhou Yun.”

”I know; I’ve watched many of your shows.” Wei Weicheng said, ”When you were promoting ’Deep Sea’ in the United States, I also attended one of the promotional events and saw you once.”

Zhou Yun was shocked upon hearing this.

”I don’t seem to remember much.”

”I was just in the audience,” Wei Weicheng said, ”At that time, I just wanted to see if the beautiful actress in the movie was as beautiful in real life.”

”I hope I didn’t disappoint you.”

”You’ve never disappointed anyone.” Wei Weicheng said, ”Actually, we should have known each other long ago. I’ve known Song Chi for quite a while, but unfortunately, I haven’t been in the country the past two years, and never formally met.”

Zhou Yun asked, ”Since you’re back this time, are you going back to the United States?”

”Temporarily not returning.” Wei Weicheng said, ”Your partner sent me a script I’m quite intrigued by; about to start shooting, if I’m to act, I’d have to stay in the country for a while.”

”Do you plan to act?” Zhou Yun was somewhat pleasantly surprised.

Wei Weicheng said, ”I haven’t filmed in so long; when in the United States, seeing you all shoot so many films, play many roles, always stirred my heart. I’ve been pondering when I could return to continue acting. Whether it be you or Song Chi, truthfully, I’ve inwardly envied you, envied your health that lets you keep filming.”

Upon hearing Wei Weicheng’s words, Zhou Yun suddenly didn’t know how to respond.

Wei Weicheng seemed to have a straightforwardness that didn’t fear being misunderstood, and just looking at his expression, without hearing his words, one wouldn’t guess he was contemplating these things.

Not everyone who succeeds is open-minded.

That’s only self-help platitude.

Zhou Yun understood this from the start, but hearing Wei Weicheng plainly state his true thoughts was surprising to her.

He genuinely doesn’t hide at all.
