Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1401: Chapter 728: Treatment Disparity

Zhou Yun and Song Chi wrapped up their scenes on the same day.

After their wrap-up, the crew still needed to shoot some establishing shots and scenes with other actors.

However, with the wrap-up of the two main actors, this film was basically finished.

At their wrap party, Chen Wenjun said with great delight, ”After filming for so long, this is the first time I’ve worked with such a luxurious cast and a production with such a large investment. With a crew of over a hundred people, I expected a lot of issues to arise during filming and was prepared for them, but surprisingly, everything went smoothly without any delays. This is all thanks to you two; your acting is top-notch, keeping everyone in line and focused on their performance.”

Chen Wenjun is known for his explosive temper; his notorious bluntness within the industry is well known.

Many big-name actors ended up having conflicts with Chen Wenjun after working with him.

The biggest difference between Chen Wenjun and Yao Yuanfeng is that no matter how bad Yao Yuanfeng’s temper is, he never directs it at one person. Chen Wenjun, on the other hand, doesn’t hesitate to lash out at anyone, speaking venomously before even considering who he’s talking to.

Moreover, he is also the kind who frequently criticizes the high salaries of celebrities or big actors for impacting series production.

It’s rare for Chen Wenjun not to complain about the high salaries of Song Chi and Zhou Yun.

When working with big-name actors in the past, Chen Wenjun never shied away from criticizing their fees.

This time, he didn’t comment on the fees of Song Chi and Zhou Yun because, on the one hand, their status in the worldly society is incomparable to so-called A-listers. They are already at the top tier, and Chen Wenjun hopes to continue collaborating with them. For example, Zhou Yun’s schedule was so hard to secure even with a high fee. On the other hand, since ”Moon Sinking at Sea” announced Song Chi and Zhou Yun as the leads, every major platform was interested, with bidding wars not just domestically but also from many countries and regions abroad for distribution rights.

It’s a period drama, so there’s not much product placement, except for Zhou Yun’s endorsed brand, Lizhou Cruise, which is prominently featured—the ship in the show is produced by Lizhou Cruise. However, the platform’s offered prices have made the show highly profitable.

In all his years producing shows, ”Moon Sinking at Sea” garnered the highest bidding prices from platforms.

And everyone was attracted by Song Chi and Zhou Yun.

This couple cast is highly favored by every platform.

After wrapping up, Song Chi has another film to start shooting soon.

Zhou Yun can take a break for a while.

”Killing Song” is scheduled to begin filming in December, and until then, she doesn’t have any shooting plans.

Of course, during this period, Zhou Yun still has to shoot commercials and attend some business activities.

Especially with the release of ”Four Killers.”

Before Zhou Yun wrapped up, ”Four Killers” was released during the National Day holidays. Zhou Yun couldn’t attend the roadshow due to filming, but the movie’s box office performed well, exceeding 100 million every day for seven consecutive days. Now, the total box office has surpassed 900 million, reinforcing Zhou Yun’s status as the Box Office Queen.

Zhou Lan worked hard on the promotion, issuing numerous publicity pieces to suppress Yin Linglin.

Yin Linglin always tried to eclipse Zhou Yun, portraying herself as the leading actress.

Zhou Lan was always alert to this.

If Yin Linglin simply promoted herself, it wouldn’t be an issue, but her method of indirectly bringing Zhou Yun into the spotlight, trying to ride on Zhou Yun’s popularity, made Zhou Lan very annoyed and disgusted.

After Zhou Yun wrapped up ”Moon Sinking at Sea,” she participated in several roadshows.

New Shield bought trending topics for Zhou Yun for each roadshow, hoping to leverage her popularity to boost ”Four Killers” box office further.

This is quite a standard operation.

Zhou Yun, being the most prominent actor in the film, naturally received the best promotional resources.

However, this situation suddenly made Yin Linglin furious.

She was very unhappy with the treatment Zhou Yun received, especially when compared to hers, the difference was stark.

Yin Linglin complained to her agent, asking them to contact New Shield, threatening not to participate in any further promotional activities if New Shield didn’t change their current distribution of promotional resources.

Yin Linglin said, ”No matter what, am I not also an A-list actress with many fans? Even if Zhou Yun is amazing, New Shield cannot be so biased! If we swallow this insult, how will I be viewed in this circle? Can everyone just walk over me?”

Upon receiving Yin Linglin’s stance, New Shield immediately reported to Yao Yuanfeng.

After all, the promotional strategy was ultimately decided by Yao Yuanfeng.

But after learning about it, Yao Yuanfeng hesitated only for a moment before saying, ”Then tell Yin Linglin’s side that they don’t need to participate in any further ’Four Killers’ promotion activities.”

The staff was in disbelief when they heard Yao Yuanfeng’s words.

Of course, the staff didn’t say anything and proceeded as instructed.

When Yao Yuanfeng’s stance was communicated back to Yin Linglin’s agent, the agent initially thought they had misheard.

What’s going on?

New Shield says there’s no need for Yin Linglin to participate in further promotional activities?

This was a completely unexpected situation for the agent.

...

After learning about this, Yin Linglin was stunned for a long time, seemingly unable to accept the reality.

”You’re saying New Shield told me I don’t have to participate in further promotions?”

Yin Linglin stared wide-eyed at her agent, in disbelief.

Since her debut, Yin Linglin’s popularity has remained high.

She became a hit with her first drama, consistently maintaining high popularity and hot productions.

Unlike those who gain popularity through data manipulation, she has solid works and achievements.

She even received several Best Actress nominations.

What company or partner wouldn’t want her to be more involved in the film’s promotion?

New Shield dared to ignore her!

Yin Linglin’s mouth twitched, and she instinctively wanted to explode, even contemplating calling Yao Yuanfeng directly to ask if he was crazy and announce they should never work together again.

But some rationality still lingered, stopping Yin Linglin from doing something impulsive she would regret.

However, Yao Yuanfeng’s attitude made Yin Linglin’s anger boil.

This was something that couldn’t be easily extinguished.

Thinking it’s a series, I’ll try not to delay updates, but I’m not in a good state. Give me some time to slowly find my footing.
