Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1411: Chapter 733: Waves Rising Again (Part 3)

Song Chi said, ”I’m actually the same, many actors have a script selection team, but the key lies in the standards each team uses to choose scripts. To be honest, many teams choose scripts by playing it safe, checking if a famous screenwriter wrote it, whether there have been blockbusters with similar works in the market in recent years, and if the script’s values align with social hotspots and have resonance. They have many criteria, even scoring standards. I just let the team give their most intuitive feelings: is it worth filming or not? If it’s worth it, then hand it over to the marketing department for assessment.”

Lew Qing said, ”It sounds like both of you are really diligent in selecting scripts. Actually, for actors like you, even if you don’t select scripts, big-name directors and screenwriters’ scripts come to you anyway.”

”I still want a sense of freshness,” Zhou Yun said. ”I want to work with directors I admire, but I also want to work with new directors. This industry is destined for constant renewal. I’m also very welcoming of new and young directors sending scripts to my studio. I can’t promise every script you send will reach me, please forgive me. I really don’t have the energy to read them all one by one. However, I promise that my team will seriously read every script you send. I specifically hire them to help me read and select scripts. We absolutely won’t throw your scripts in the trash or leave them unopened. Even if they’re not suitable for me to act in and you can’t find investors for a while, you can still come to me, and I’ll do my best to help everyone.”

Zhou Yun’s words drew a hearty cheer from the audience.

But there were also people in the audience wondering whether Zhou Yun was being real or not.

Is it an act?

At this moment, Song Chi also said, ”Everyone is welcome to submit scripts to my company too.”

The atmosphere at the scene grew even more lively.

Their attitude stirred significant reactions at the event.

Especially Zhou Yun’s open statement, which drew eyes from across the industry.

Zhou Yun’s thought was quite simple. She had money, network resources, and influence. If she could give someone a push, why not?

The industry trusted her vision, so she might as well use it to its full potential.

...

However, at this moment, a new director who had dealt with Zhou Yun stood up to subtly mock her for being troublesome and not as magnanimous as she seemed.

Zhou Yun had previously interacted with a new director named Li Rui.

His self-written script ”Above the Dust” was very much liked by Zhou Yun. She even met him specifically for this.

However, Li Rui’s character was a little too arrogant and very hard to communicate with.

While Zhou Yun was still hesitating about investing, Li Rui suddenly informed that he chose to collaborate with New Shield, thus rejecting her.

At the time, Zhou Yun just felt a bit regretful but didn’t take it to heart.

Later on, Zhou Yun didn’t pay any attention to how that project was progressing.

Who would have known this person suddenly came out, accepting an interview, saying: ”Initially, Zhou Yun contacted me first. She wanted to invest, but I was also talking to others. Later, New Shield promised me better terms, so I accepted New Shield’s invitation. Of course, I admit that I indeed wasted her time and didn’t end up collaborating with her. However, this is normal behavior, right? Everyone hopes for better support for their work, but I didn’t expect the matter to not go smoothly. I rejected her, which offended her, and after a few months, New Shield actually decided to breach the contract and not invest anymore.”

Li Rui’s interview caused a massive uproar.

Li Rui was implying that Zhou Yun sabotaged his collaboration with New Shield.

Zhou Lan was so angry that she cursed, saying, ”This brainless idiot, now he’s learned to slander people out of thin air, huh? Being so cryptic here, if you’ve got guts, make things clear! Does Xiao Yun need to destroy your cooperation with New Shield? Arrogant and such a fool.”

Many media outlets paid attention to this matter.

Many also called wanting to interview Zhou Yun for her side of the story.

Zhou Yun’s side simply responded that she indeed had contact with Li Rui, but she was not aware of the specifics of Li Rui’s collaboration with New Shield and did not participate in it.

Zhou Yun said, ”Sister Lan, find out what’s going on between Li Rui and New Shield, alright? Things seemed to be going well before, so why did it suddenly fall apart?”
