Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1429: Chapter 742: A Burning Emergency

”It would be great if Zhou Yun could make a cameo in our movie.”

The producer wasn’t sure how many times he had mentioned this to Song Chi.

Song Chi smiled and said, ”She’s been busy lately and doesn’t even have time to visit the set. How would she have time for a cameo? It seems I’m not really popular anymore, huh? I’m starring in this movie, and you’re not confident about it selling tickets?”

The producer naturally would never say that.

”Not at all. It’s just that people nationwide want to see you and Zhou Yun on screen together. So, if Zhou Yun could make a surprise appearance, it would definitely excite everyone.”

Song Chi: ”This isn’t a holiday film. Why would we need so many surprises?”

The producer laughed twice, knowing Song Chi still wouldn’t agree, so he let it go.

In front of Zhou Yun, Song Chi is gentle, but outside, Song Chi is not easy to push around.

Song Chi is a person with a temper.

After chatting with the producer, he got up and went back to his trailer to rest.

Today’s shooting went smoothly, without any other issues, no fuss.

The reason he took on this movie was mostly to return a favor.

Running his own company, he owed a lot of favors.

He knew what the producer was thinking.

If they could get Zhou Yun for a cameo, the topic would definitely explode further.

But, why should he agree?

Exploiting him and still wanting to exploit Zhou Yun?

Song Chi’s attitude towards this film was very indifferent, focusing on doing his job earnestly and playing the role well, and all other factors were outside his considerations.

Beyond that, most favor debts were paid off, and it was time to do what he truly wanted.

After getting in the car, the first thing Song Chi did was pull out his phone and call Wu Chengbao.

”You told me this morning that there was a problem with ’Conspicuous and Trouble.’ What kind of problem?”

Wu Chengbao said, ”Previously, we had decided on He Xuran as the male lead, right? His agent suddenly contacted me and said he couldn’t align his schedule for the upcoming months and wants to withdraw.”

”Withdraw? The intent contract was signed, and he wants to withdraw at this point?” Song Chi frowned instantly. ”Why can’t his schedule be aligned? Do you know the specific reason?”

Wu Chengbao said, ”I asked, but his agent wouldn’t say. I inquired from multiple sources, and it seems he’s been offered a movie.”

”A movie?”

”Yes, probably because ’Four Killers’ did well at the box office, many people are sending him scripts. ’Conspicuous and Trouble’ is an online drama, and to him, it’s just a schedule filler. If he has a better option, giving up ’Conspicuous and Trouble’ is understandable.”

”But if I remember correctly, initially ’Conspicuous and Trouble’ was also something he proactively approached us to collaborate on, right?”

”Yes, his agent came to us. Apparently, his agent really liked the original novel and specifically approached us. At the time, we thought having He Xuran as the lead would ensure investment and platform purchases, so we decided on him.” Wu Chengbao said, ”I’m currently looking for a male actor with a suitable schedule. We’ve already signed a contract with Chestnut Video, and the film needs to be edited and delivered to them by next April. I can negotiate the timing with them, but it can’t be delayed for too long. We must quickly find an actor who can step in.”

”Do you have any candidates in mind?”

”The timing is very tight, and the next month we need to start shooting, making it difficult to find someone whose schedule fits.” Wu Chengbao said, ”Unless we go with a newcomer, but Chestnut Video definitely wouldn’t agree. Initially, with He Xuran starring, changing to a newcomer would directly downgrade the rating. I’ll contact all the top male actors and try to find someone to step in.”

”Okay, you start contacting them, and I’ll also check on my end.”

Song Chi hung up the phone, thought for a moment, and went through all the suitable male actors in his mind.

If He Xuran doesn’t act, Liu Jin alone won’t hold up the show.

After all, Liu Jin was able to play the female lead in this film because she’s a signed actress with the company, benefiting from the proximity advantage.

If the male lead isn’t someone strong, Chestnut Video might even back out.

Song Chi was a bit upset.

The main issue is that in this industry, contractual spirit is important because if someone breaches a contract, it can cause a chain reaction. This chain reaction is like dominoes, leading to widespread negative influence on a movie, a group of people, a project worth billions.

Song Chi believes that He Xuran, as a top-tier actor, should adhere to such contractual spirit, knowing his breach would have a significant impact on this project and film.

He admitted that it was because He Xuran felt acting in that movie would bring more benefits than this online drama.

It’s understandable why he thinks this way.

But if He Xuran made this decision before taking on this show, Song Chi would absolutely not be upset.

The key issue is, He Xuran breached the contract.

”He Xuran is really crossing the line with this.”

Zhou Yun heard about the matter and expressed dissatisfaction in support of Song Chi.

Zhou Lan: ”Song Chi hasn’t told you about this yet?”

”No.”

”That’s typical. Knowing your personality, he knows if he told you, you’d definitely want to help out. But he doesn’t want you to worry about his affairs.”

”Sister Lan, do you know who might have a free schedule recently?” Zhou Yun asked.

Zhou Lan said, ”The male actors who have been active and popular lately definitely won’t have schedule availability temporarily. But there’s an actor who hasn’t shot any films in the past two years, and many thought he had left the industry. In reality, he was sick and went to recover. If he could take on this role, he should be able to solve this urgent problem.”

Zhou Yun’s eyes lit up upon hearing this.

”Who?”

”Wei Weicheng.”

Upon hearing this name, Zhou Yun immediately recalled the person associated with it. The reason was simple: the person was just like Song Chi, one of the young male actors in the film industry who was highly regarded, but suddenly disappeared from the scene two or three years ago.

”Was he sick?”

”Yes, it’s a secret never known to the media. He was treated abroad all along, but I heard he returned to the country last month,” Zhou Lan said. ”If you can persuade him to take the role, the platform and investors would likely be satisfied.”

Zhou Yun understood Zhou Lan’s meaning.

”Considering he was so popular before, Song Chi should know him. I’ll discuss this with Song Chi and see if there’s a way to contact him.”
