Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1487: Chapter 673: Preparations (3)

”This time, Wen Bing and Zhou Yun are collaborating on a new movie. Many people in the company are talking about it,” Zeng Xiuyan evidently knew why Zhou Lan came to have afternoon tea with her. After finishing the topic of ”Left Hand,” she began discussing Zhou Yun and Wen Bing’s new film with Zhou Lan. ”Especially those at the script review meeting, they are quite pessimistic about this film, saying the box office will definitely tank, even with Zhou Yun and Wen Bing working together. I’ve not read the script; is it that bad?”

Zhou Lan: ”It’s not bad; it’s just different from the traditional story structure. There’s nothing more to say about this. For creators like Wen Bing and Zhou Yun, before a project is released, no one should view their creation with a shallow gaze. If they were that easily understood, they wouldn’t be who they are.”

Zeng Xiuyan nodded.

”You’re right.”

She smiled warmly and said, ”I find you really trust Zhou Yun a lot.”

”Of course.” Zhou Lan said, ”I’ve known her for so many years now. Every choice and decision she makes proves to be correct in the end, many of which I initially doubted. This shows that my judgment on picking roles isn’t as good as hers, so there’s nothing else to say; I just trust her.”

Zeng Xiuyan said, ”That’s the nature of creation. The same thing handled by different people yields different results, but there’s always someone in the company trying to figure out a formula to mass-produce films that achieve high box office returns.”

”It’s not surprising they want to do that.”

”Yes, but it’s annoying.” Zeng Xiuyan smiled. ”Actually, President Yao often said that with those who genuinely create, we can’t use our methods to deal with them or measure them, but some people just won’t listen.”

Zhou Lan: ”Because everyone wants to prove their skills are better than others’, right?”

”That being said, I admire Zhou Yun. Many people praise her acting skills, saying she has an aura and luck. But if you ask me, her most remarkable trait is her insight. Look, why has she reached her current status in just four years? It’s because every choice she’s made has been correct,” Zeng Xiuyan said. ”It’s truly amazing and magical. Is there anyone like her without a single failed project? Even though ’Under the Grand Dress’ doesn’t have a great reputation, the show set a record for the most lucrative advertisement revenue in television dramas over the last five years, without a doubt a commercial success. With such a track record, which production wouldn’t prioritize Zhou Yun?”

Zhou Lan smiled.

”I heard you guys want to make a second one. Is that true?” Zeng Xiuyan asked.

Zhou Lan pondered for a moment and said, ”It’s not a second one; we’re planning to tell the stories of other characters within the same story background.”

”So, Zhou Yun won’t be acting; the focus will be on other characters?” Zeng Xiuyan nodded. ”I was wondering, since this series doesn’t improve Zhou Yun’s reputation much, why would she act in a sequel? Your maneuver is quite smart.”

Zhou Lan laughed and asked, ”Why do you ask? Are you interested?”

”Of course I’m interested. If possible, I’d like to share in the success,” Zeng Xiuyan said. ”Isn’t this the production you’re leading?”

Zhou Lan said, ”I’ll check it out later. Although I’m involved in this project, the main production is still under He Yong’s team, and originally this is a VX brand integration drama.”

”Alright.” Zeng Xiuyan nodded. ”I’m not greedy, just want to share a little piece.”

Zhou Lan laughed.

”How much are you planning to invest?”

Zeng Xiuyan said, ”I’ve got about five million at hand.”

”Okay, I’ll check it out later,” Zhou Lan said. ”Not necessarily, but if there’s a bit available, I’ll prioritize keeping it for you.”

”Waiting for your news.”

...

It’s evening again.

Zhou Yun sat in a deck chair, lost in thought.

Wen Bing and a few others were inside the house discussing how to decorate it.

They had already rented this courtyard they set their eyes on.

Once they finalize the setup plan, they’ll start decorating.

She was comfortably drifting into a daze when suddenly she heard a gentle voice asking her, ”Do you eat candy?”

Zhou Yun opened her eyes and saw a charming young girl, blinking her lively eyes while looking at her.
