Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1458: Chapter 750: Night Talk in Paris

Who is lurking in the shadows, watching her?

And who is shooting arrows in the dark?

Zhou Yun’s mind was in turmoil. It was still early, but she couldn’t sleep. She couldn’t focus on anything, so she could only do yoga in her room, trying her best to achieve a state of inner peace.

”Knock knock.”

Suddenly, someone knocked on the door.

Zhou Yun walked to the door in surprise and looked through the peephole. She relaxed slightly when she saw that the person knocking was Zhou Lan, and opened the door.

”I knew you weren’t asleep.” Zhou Lan smiled, holding two bottles of red wine, ”Let’s have a drink together.”

Zhou Yun nodded.

She needed to distract herself.

”Are you scared inside?” Zhou Lan asked immediately after entering the room.

”Scared.” Zhou Yun nodded, ”Honestly, it’s more a feeling of terror, not knowing who’s hiding behind the scenes shooting arrows at me.”

Zhou Lan: ”I’m just like you. Sometimes, I’d rather face an enemy who confronts me directly than one hidden somewhere unknown.”

”Yes.” Zhou Yun nodded, smiling slightly.

She thought of something and said, ”Sister Lan, did Jerold Sanchi say something to you that made you uneasy?”

Zhou Lan smiled helplessly.

”You really can’t hide anything from you.” Zhou Lan said, ”Jerold Sanchi said that anyone capable of pulling this off isn’t ordinary.”

”I had thought of that.”

”Well, many actresses actually encounter these things — obsessive fans, pursuers, pathological admirers, and so on. But I didn’t expect you to face it too.”

Zhou Yun said, ”Why would I be an exception?”

Zhou Lan said nothing.

”But no matter what, I’m going to find this person.” Zhou Yun’s eyes suddenly gleamed with determination. ”Originally, I had been easily distracted and couldn’t concentrate; many things have taken my focus. But now that something like this has happened, knowing someone wants to make my life difficult, I have to fight back. I can’t let them succeed!”

Zhou Lan was stunned.

She couldn’t believe that Zhou Yun had become so invigorated, especially because of this incident.

Zhou Lan was bewildered and asked, ”It’s good that you can get motivated, but... I’m shocked by you. Normally, wouldn’t someone become more anxious and worried when faced with these situations? How come you’re instead spurred to fight? I’ve known you for so many years, yet you can still surprise me.”

Zhou Yun: ”I don’t even know what’s wrong with me recently. There’s always this feeling of lethargy. I don’t know if I’m trapped in fatigue or... if I’ve reached a point where I can’t progress any further. Especially after filming ’Moon Sinking at Sea.’ This feeling is very strong. Actually, I still hadn’t come to my senses even when I was at the airport. While resting in the room this afternoon, I had nightmares, but just when you told me that there’s someone behind this incident pulling strings, someone wanting to harm me, I was suddenly awakened, enlightened. I regained my fighting spirit. I think I had lost a clear goal before, but now I have one.”

”Your goal now is to find that person?” Zhou Lan asked.

Zhou Yun nodded, ”Finding that person is secondary. I just suddenly remembered why I insisted on being an actress.”

”Huh?” Zhou Lan looked confused. She couldn’t understand the logic behind it.

What does this have to do with Zhou Yun’s persistence in being an actress?

Zhou Yun said, ”Sister Lan, I may say I don’t care about winning awards, or about the high or low pay, or even my status, but deep down, I’m very aware — I can’t lie to myself. I do care about these things. I should confront my heart directly. I need to clarify one thing: I’m not as indifferent to fame and fortune as I claim to be. I need to understand that when problems occur, when results don’t align with my expectations, when things don’t progress as I hoped, there’s no point in getting stuck in misery. Previously, I seemed to put myself in a low position, yet I internally believed my judgment was better than anyone else’s. This incident suddenly woke me up — even if I considered myself the top actress, even if it’s true, it doesn’t matter. There will still be people who don’t like you, people who will target you, people who truly believe you don’t deserve it.”
