Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1475: Chapter 759: Some Upheavals (Part 3)

As a result, Liang Yuanpu just quit.

Zhou Yun didn’t want to offend him because of this matter.

It was an unforeseen disaster.

Obviously, during the first collaboration, she got along quite well with Liang Yuanpu.

”What should we do next?” Zhou Yun asked.

Zhou Lan frowned and said, ”It depends on whether you want to act in this film or avoid offending Liang Yuanpu.”

”Whether or not to act in the sequel to ’Two Tigers’ is secondary. You know I don’t have such deep feelings for this movie; if it hadn’t been for Wen Bing back then, I wouldn’t have done the first one,” Zhou Yun said. ”But as for not wanting to offend Liang Yuanpu, it’s not really that. I think he isn’t that narrow-minded, and I don’t need to bow down for something unrelated to me.”

”If he’s not narrow-minded, why does he mind your role getting bigger?” Zhou Lan didn’t agree with Zhou Yun.

But Zhou Yun said, ”Sister Lan, don’t judge actors like Liang Yuanpu by ordinary standards. Think about it, would I be unhappy because someone’s role increased?”

”Everyone’s different; if everyone were as magnanimous as you, that would be great.”

”No, Sister Lan, I’ve met Liang Yuanpu and interacted with him; I roughly understand him,” Zhou Yun said. ”I’m not saying whether he’s that kind of person, but think about it from another perspective: if the sequel to my ’Female Assassin’ suddenly had a male lead with equal screen time, how would you feel?”

Zhou Lan was silent.

”This series was originally built around Liang Yuanpu. He was the absolute lead in the first film. It’s not that he has something against me; he just can’t accept his movie being shared with someone else. Not to mention, from his perspective, the script allotting screen time like this might not be the film he wanted to make,” Zhou Yun said. ”This movie’s overseas box office was good, selling several million dollars in the United States, United Kingdom, Japan, and Korea. New Shield wants to use my name to boost the ’Two Tigers’ series, but Liang Yuanpu might not be willing. He’s the true core of this movie. You don’t need to say it’s because of me that we sold so many tickets overseas. Even if that were true, he wouldn’t care about those ticket sales. Even if he isn’t famous abroad, it doesn’t affect his status in our domestic film industry, don’t you think?”

Zhou Lan was persuaded by Zhou Yun.

”That’s why, for me, Liang Yuanpu not wanting to act in the sequel is him giving me face. If he didn’t want to give me face, he’d slam the table and scold New Shield,” Zhou Yun said, empathizing with Liang Yuanpu’s feelings.

Back when making the first ’Two Tigers’ movie, New Shield’s Yao Yuanfeng had to try very hard to invite him, giving a new director the leading role, which led to this movie.

Otherwise, with such a large production budget, a new director—even one who filmed ’Life,’ a box office miracle in the art film sector—who would risk investing if Liang Yuanpu hadn’t taken on the leading role?

That art film’s box office miracle topped out at just a few billion.

How can it compare to such a large production?

Now, because Zhou Yun has become popular, they want her to pick the fruits and become the leader of this series, which doesn’t sit right no matter how you put it.

Zhou Yun fully understands Liang Yuanpu.

After discussing with Zhou Lan, Zhou Lan made special arrangements.

Coincidentally, there was a brand activity to attend the day after tomorrow, and Zhou Lan arranged for a familiar reporter to ask Zhou Yun about the sequel to ’Two Tigers’ on the spot.

”Xiao Yun, the first ’Two Tigers’ performed so well at the Spring Festival box office, and I hear the sequel is being launched. Will you be acting in the sequel?”

Zhou Yun responded with the script Zhou Lan wrote in advance: ”If Mr. Liang Yuanpu is still the lead, then I’ll act.”

This gave Liang Yuanpu enough face in front of outsiders.

If Liang Yuanpu performs, she performs; the order of precedence was clear.

Upon seeing Zhou Yun’s interview, Yao Yuanfeng was so angry in his office that he smashed an ashtray.

Afterward, he called the company executive producer responsible for the movie and gave them a stern scolding.

The way they handled this, neither the male nor female leads want to perform, so what are they going to shoot!

Wen Bing was especially pleased and said that since Liang Yuanpu didn’t agree to the script in the short term, the film couldn’t be made. He had a script he always wanted to film and directly sent it to Yao Yuanfeng.

”Give me just twenty days and I can finish filming,” Wen Bing said confidently.
