Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1463: Chapter 751: Scrambling for Seats (Part 3)

Everyone exchanged email addresses and left each other their numbers.

Konosuke Harada said, ”Miss Zhou, if you come to Japan in the future, you must let me know, I’ll make the arrangements.”

Zhou Yun said with a smile, ”Mr. Harada, you’re too kind, thank you.”

”Being able to host a talented actress like Miss Zhou Yun is an honor for Pine Branchi Movie.”

After they finished chatting, the group broke up.

Zhou Lan leaned to Zhou Yun’s ear and whispered, ”Xiao Yun, do you feel like Konosuke Harada is being a bit too polite to you?”

”Yeah, but I don’t know why either.” Zhou Yun said, ”Logically, he’s the boss of a film company, and they’ve got actresses like San Yuanqing, he really doesn’t need to go out of his way to butter me up like this.”

”Maybe that’s just how people from Japan are.”

”Could be.” Zhou Lan said, ”The people from Japan I know all seem like that.”

”But anyway, if it’s a new film by Director Yu Zhihe, we definitely still need to find a way to fight for it.” Zhou Lan said, ”A master-level director like him — working with him is a huge plus for you too. To put it bluntly, it’ll further solidify your position in Asia’s film scene.”

”Uh, okay.”

”You’re the one who said you have to accept your own vulgar side, so even though what I just said sounds tacky, you’ve got to accept it.”

”Got it, got it, I’ll accept it.” Zhou Yun said helplessly.

She couldn’t go back on what she herself had said.

”Mm-hmm, isn’t that the one who stole your seat?” Zhou Lan suddenly glanced in one direction and said.

Zhou Yun heard this and looked over.

Up ahead, that young woman with brown hair and blue eyes was holding a wine glass, standing beside a handsome middle-aged man, playing some eye-contact flirting game with him.

Zhou Lan said outright, ”So gross.”

Zhou Yun asked, ”Sister Lan, do you know who she is?”

”Gilan Stuer, a young supermodel who’s blown up these past two years. She’s got tons of fans and is super active on social media — the most influencer-like among the current crop of supers.” Zhou Lan said, ”She’s also a partner supermodel of D, has a very close working relationship with them. But she often posts discriminatory comments and has been boycotted by a lot of people.”

”Mm-huh? If that’s the case, why would D still invite her to walk their show?”

”Because she’s got a huge fan base, over ten million followers on Twitter.” Zhou Lan said, ”The market’s bad right now; even a house like D needs influencers like her to boost the brand’s exposure.”

”And who’s that man?”

”Who knows. Just one look and you can tell he’s not any decent type.” Zhou Lan said irritably.

For the moment, Zhou Yun couldn’t tell if Zhou Lan was just venting or what.

But just then, Gilan Stuer suddenly spotted Zhou Yun.

She let her gaze linger on Zhou Yun for a brief, slightly provocative moment, then lazily withdrew her eyes.

”Why is she so damn annoying just to look at?” Zhou Lan muttered under her breath.

”Hey, Xiao Yun!” Suddenly, Wen Xi appeared.

”Hey, Wen Xi!” Zhou Yun looked at the suddenly appearing Wen Xi in surprise and asked, ”Where did you come from? I didn’t see you in D’s runway show just now.”

”I don’t have any jobs with their house this year, but I knew you were here, so I came to the party. Well? How was their show today?”

”Really impressive.” Zhou Yun said sincerely, ”I loved it, those clothes were gorgeous.”

”Yeah?” Wen Xi said, ”D’s designs have been getting somewhat lukewarm reviews these past two years. Looks like they pulled off a comeback this time.”

”Haha, really? I had no idea.” Zhou Yun said.

Wen Xi: ”It’s true.”

She chatted with Zhou Yun for a bit, then her expression suddenly changed. Frowning, she said, ”Didn’t expect her to be here too.”

”Her? Who’s ’her’?” Zhou Yun didn’t understand why Wen Xi had that attitude and asked, somewhat surprised.

Wen Xi gestured subtly toward Gilan Stuer and said, ”That one. Be careful with her. She looks down on Chinese, and she often attacks our country on social media. I can’t stand her.”

”Huh?” Zhou Yun was stunned.

She said, ”When we were watching the show just now, she even swapped out my seat.”

”What do you mean?” Wen Xi froze and asked.

Zhou Yun told Wen Xi everything she’d just gone through.

”She does crap like that too? She really has some next-level thick skin.” Wen Xi said angrily, ”How can someone be that shameless!”

Zhou Yun said, ”Anyway, I’ve already told Joanna about it. Let’s see how D handles it. If D doesn’t plan to do anything, then forget it — I just won’t attend D’s events in the future.”

”Don’t act on impulse.” Wen Xi said.

”It’s not impulse. It’s just — if I swallowed this quietly, that’d be it. But I’ve already told Joanna what happened. If they don’t respond at all and I don’t react either, then I’d be selling myself way too short. People live on dignity.” Zhou Yun said.

Wen Xi stared at her in surprise.

”This is D we’re talking about.”

”Whatever.” Zhou Yun said, ”I’m fine. I’m not purely working in the fashion world anyway. Even if I don’t give them face, what can they do to me — ban me?”

”Of course they wouldn’t go so far as to blacklist you. It’s just, you know, D is still one of the world’s top brands. If you stop working with them, it’s a big loss for you too.”

”Then I’ll just dial it down a bit and not make it sound so absolute.” Zhou Yun said, changing her tune in an instant. ”But I can’t pretend nothing happened. I won’t allow myself to do that.”

”Of course, absolutely.” Zhou Lan said, ”Besides, you’re now China’s finest actress. They can’t treat you like this.”

”Let’s just hope D comes up with a decent way to handle it.”
