Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1453: Chapter 748: Investigation_2

She looked at Jerold Sanchi with great interest and asked, ”How long have you been in this line of work?”

Although Jerold Sanchi didn’t look like a greenhorn fresh out of the gate, he was obviously quite young and not yet in the mature and steady category.

Experience is undoubtedly crucial in this profession.

Jerold Sanchi said, ”How long I’ve been in this business doesn’t matter. What’s important is that I can dig up the truth you want, no matter how deep it’s buried. Didn’t Louis tell you about my capabilities?”

Louis was the intermediary between them.

Zhou Lan could hear the pride in his voice.

Zhou Lan wasn’t repelled by a person’s self-pride.

To some extent, it also reflected a person’s confidence.

”Louis only reminded me to be careful not to question your abilities, or you’d get very angry.”

Zhou Lan smiled slightly.

”Jerold, is it okay if I call you that?” Zhou Lan asked.

Jerold Sanchi shrugged noncommittally.

”Louis should have roughly introduced the situation to you. I hope you can quickly investigate who the man who assaulted Zhou Yun at the airport is and why he attacked her,” Zhou Lan said to Jerold Sanchi, ”I’ll transfer you ten thousand dollars upfront. I hope you can provide me with some news soon. If there’s anything else needed, contact me anytime. We’re only here for three days, so I hope you can clarify this within that time. After it’s done, I’ll pay you another thirty thousand, but you’ll need to sign a contract with us, including a confidentiality agreement. Zhou Yun is an artist; we want to keep this matter completely confidential.”

Jerold Sanchi shrugged as if he didn’t take the matter seriously at all.

”The case isn’t a problem, but a flat rate, sixty thousand dollars, no negotiation,” Jerold Sanchi said. ”This isn’t an ordinary case; it involves a celebrity artist, and hush money is separate. I think that’s quite reasonable, right?”

Jerold Sanchi winked at Zhou Lan and smiled slightly.

Zhou Lan: ”Protecting clients’ privacy, shouldn’t that be your professional ethics?”

Jerold Sanchi: ”I never believed in that stuff. I only believe in cold, hard cash.”

”...” Zhou Lan didn’t know what to say.

However, what Jerold Sanchi said made her change her view of him a bit.

Zhou Lan always preferred to trust those who were bold enough to name their price in advance.

”Alright, deal,” Zhou Lan said. ”Sixty thousand it is, but if this leaks, the penalty won’t be as low.”

”Uh-huh.” Jerold Sanchi shrugged again.

...

Zhou Yun took a nap in her room.

It was a short nap, and she suddenly woke up.

She opened her eyes wide, feeling her heart palpitate.

Another nightmare.

In the nightmare, she was imprisoned in a dark room, calling out for help, but to no avail, with no one coming to rescue her.

After waking up, Zhou Yun realized her mental state might really have an issue.

Once or twice might just be emotional or coincidental, but lately, she’s been frequently troubled by nightmares.

The key is that most of the time, she doesn’t actually feel anything.

Neither much stress nor a sense of helplessness.

Just occasionally, as if struck by lightning in life, something like this happens, reminding her of her fears.

Zhou Yun told herself not to be nervous, not to be afraid, then took a deep breath, grabbed her phone, and searched for her name, finding the attack video shot by a fan on-site.

Face the fear.

Zhou Yun said to herself deep down.

She played the video, not looking at anyone else, only focusing on the attacker.

No mistake, it wasn’t her illusion.

This person was indeed smiling with satisfaction.

Even the comments section had many bystanders saying that the attacker’s smile and eyes looked very frightening.

Zhou Yun took a deep breath.

Okay, at least now she knew one thing for sure; she wasn’t experiencing subconscious hallucinations.

Her mental state wasn’t the problem.

Now, the second question needed to be addressed.

What exactly was the attacker’s motive?

Currently, Zhou Yun couldn’t believe this person simply hated Asians and thus targeted her, an Asian celebrity, to intimidate her.

She even felt that this person was just using this excuse to carry out the act.
