Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 749: Chapter 509: Who Cares About Them_2

”Whether Zhou Yun is as bad as those marketing accounts on the internet describe her, in an era where everyone has a voice, shouldn’t we do more investigation and collect more evidence before drawing a final conclusion about someone? Instead of interpreting their intentions based on a single comment or out-of-context snippets?

When I was a guest at someone’s house and saw the host coming at me with a knife, I was terrified, thinking he was going to kill me. But then I found out he was just preparing to cut a watermelon for me. We should not jump to conclusions, and even less should we allow some baseless matters to affect an actress who is working hard on her films.

If Zhou Yun is really just pretending to be dedicated, and this pretense indeed makes her overcome all difficulties to return to the film set, and if Zhou Yun is really just pretending to be humble, and this pretense makes her fans see the meaning of humility, then what’s wrong with such pretense?

Talking about films, how many years has it been since Chinese-language films won a major award at the Cannes Film Festival? Do you still remember the pride and excitement in your hearts the day when ’Behind the Scenes’ won an award? Zhou Yun, an actress who was lucky enough to step onto the international stage and start getting noticed, could have led Chinese-language films to greater international presence and onto the world stage. And now, she is being unfairly judged for no reason? Forgive me for being blunt, but I do not accept this.

Go watch ’Behind the Scenes,’ and you will understand how fortunate we are to encounter an actress like Zhou Yun at this time.”

The article from ”Movie Album” has received a fierce wave of shares on WeChat.

And this sharing has spread Zhou Yun’s name to demographics not typically covered by Weibo. The majority of Weibo’s user base is young people, while WeChat reaches a more comprehensive audience.

Many people did not know the name Zhou Yun.

Many young people shared the article, and their family members saw it and clicked through, vaguely understanding what had happened after reading it. Plus, the previous disputes on Weibo had not spread wide enough for them to be aware, they emotionally believed in the inclination of this piece—how a young girl, who brought glory to her country, suddenly got slandered and maligned right after winning an international award! Outrageous!

To be precise, this share brought many viewers to ’Behind the Scenes.’ Unknowingly, this report also informed them of the film, and that it had won international honors. Winning international honors is considered bringing glory to the country in the eyes of the older generation, and they always have a pure passion for anything that accomplishes that; even if they normally are not interested in films, they would be willing to support it.

Because of these people, the box office of ’Behind the Scenes’ rose slightly in the two days following its initial three days, which garnered around fifty million.

At this time, ’Behind the Scenes’ faced its first drop in box office—tomorrow is Monday.

Generally speaking, after the first weekend ends, a film’s box office typically faces a significant drop, which is an additional effect of the weekend phenomenon.

In fact, although the box office broke twenty million both on Saturday and Sunday, this performance was still lacking for a film starring a top actress, not to mention that the movie was acclaimed. According to previous patterns, even the most lackluster art film could break a hundred million if it won a major award.

And looking at the box office figures for ’Behind the Scenes’ during its first weekend from a data standpoint, it lacked staying power.

Zhou Yun and Shi Luoqi held an online meeting.

Zhou Yun said, ”I’ve been silent for too long, but my silence hasn’t made the film’s performance any better; it’s still being dragged down because of me.”

In the video conference, Zeng Lili took the initiative to comfort her, ”Xiao Yun, don’t say that. You can’t blame yourself for this, it’s those who blacken your name who are despicable.”

You Jiang also nodded, saying, ”Don’t take all the guilt upon yourself.”

Zhou Yun, however, said, ”I have an idea, I’m not content to let this film be discredited like this; it deserves better box office results and deserves to be seen by more audiences.”

”What do you want to do?” Shi Luoqi asked.

Zhou Yun said, ”To erupt in silence, or to perish in silence.”

This is a quote by Mr. Lu Xun. Zhou Yun applied it here.
