Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 741: Chapter 506: Between Friends_3

Celebrities who are well-known and popular are always in high demand.

Money alone isn’t enough, as everyone is splurging, but what really matters is whether your show is popular or not.

His show was neither a sequel nor a remake of any popular show, so naturally, it failed to draw everyone’s attention.

Today, Zhou Yun not only showed up but also brought Song Chi along, knowing it was a work-related meeting, and didn’t bring his agent or assistant.

Zhong Qiu certainly didn’t think that this was Zhou Yun giving him face; he understood it must be because of the close relationship between Zhou Yun and Gu Huaichun. Zhou Yun trusted Gu Huaichun, hence he didn’t bring his agent and assistant. Once Zhong Qiu realized this, he understood why Gu Huaichun had to make everything clear to Zhou Yun over the phone beforehand.

If he had been misled into thinking it was just a friendly meal without other agendas, it would definitely upset Zhou Yun.

Gu Huaichun said, ”Let me introduce, this is Zhong Qiu, my friend, currently a variety show director at Chestnut Video.”

”Hello,” Zhou Yun greeted politely.

Song Chi also nodded at him.

Facing the two big celebrities, Zhong Qiu was somewhat nervous and exhibited a very humble demeanor. He said, ”Teacher Song, Teacher Zhou, hello.”

”Oh, we’re not teachers at all, please stop calling us that, it’s embarrassing,” Zhou Yun laughed, ”Gu Huaichun mentioned that you have a show you would like me to record?”

”Yes, yes, that’s right,” Zhong Qiu was genuinely nervous, even stammering.

Zhou Yun asked, ”Could you introduce me to what this show is about?”

Zhong Qiu explained, ”Here’s the thing, I used to deal mainly with cultural programs as a director, but this time I’d like to do a role-play mystery show. Detective programs have been popular these years, always in demand, so I wanted to combine our country’s classic literature with mystery elements. We’ve created twelve finely polished scripts as everyone knows you love reading mystery novels and are a fan of mysteries. The show fits you perfectly, and I hope to have you record it.”

Hearing this, Zhou Yun nodded and asked, ”So you’ve gathered many of our country’s ancient detective stories for the scripts?”

”Ah, no, we’ve based it on classics like ’Journey to the West,’ ’Water Margin,’ ’The Scholars,’ using their settings and characters for secondary creation to craft suspenseful crime story scripts. The characters will be played by guests who will seek out the truth through role-playing.”

Zhou Yun expressed his surprise and approval, ”That sounds really great, very creative.”

”Thank you,” Zhong Qiu, seeing Zhou Yun’s interest, sighed in relief.

”But—” Zhou Yun added, expressing what Zhong Qiu least wanted to hear, ”The thing is, I’ve already taken on many roles, and I have lots more to shoot, so I don’t think I can record from start to finish all twelve episodes. I don’t have the time. But since you’re a friend introduced by Gu Huaichun, I definitely want to support it. How about this: I’ll speak with my agent, and you talk to my agent about scheduling. If the timing is right, I can be a guest on a few episodes.”

Upon hearing this, Zhong Qiu felt as if he’d stumbled upon a ray of hope.

He had thought Zhou Yun was going to refuse, but Zhou Yun agreed to help record a few episodes.

Zhong Qiu nodded, replying, ”Great, that’s wonderful, thank you!”

After the meal, Song Chi and Zhong Qiu chatted upfront while Gu Huaichun quietly explained to Zhou Yun at the back, ”He’s a really good friend of mine, but since I am in Yuehai, I can’t go record for Chestnut Video’s program. So he asked me to help get in touch with you, and that’s why I made the call.”

”That’s fine, you personally made the call, how could I refuse?” Zhou Yun remarked, ”But if the schedule really doesn’t work out, I can only apologize.”

”Of course,” Gu Huaichun smiled, ”I haven’t even congratulated you yet, you’ve won another award.”
